Political correctness 'allowed gay foster couple to abuse young boys'
Last updated at 16:11pm on 5th September 2007
Social workers were reluctant to investigate two gay foster parents who were later convicted of abusing children in their care for fear of being seen as prejudiced, an independent report published today found.
The report was ordered by Wakefield Metropolitan District Council after Craig Faunch and Ian Wathey were jailed last year for sexual offences against four boys who were placed in their care.
The inquiry found the children had been let down by "failures in performance", both by individuals and in systems put in place by the council.
The report's authors concluded that some staff were not up to the job of dealing with Faunch and Wathey, who had 18 children placed with them between August 2003 and January 2005.
"It is clear that these foster carers proved challenging to a number of professional staff, some of whom were ill-equipped for the task of working with them and supervising them in their care of children," the report said.
The document said that council workers had "anxieties" about their actions being viewed as discriminating against gay people.
"The fear of being discriminatory led them to fail to discriminate between the appropriate and the abusive," says the report.
Elaine McHale, Wakefield Metropolitan District Council's corporate director of family services said: "We welcome the completion of the independent inquiry carried out at our request by Brian Parrott.
"We are grateful for all his work and for the recommendations he has made as a result of his investigation, which we are using to improve our fostering services now and for the future.
"The report will be presented to the full meeting of the council on September 12. Until then, it is not appropriate for us to comment further."
Wathey and Faunch were found guilty of abusing four boys aged between eight and 14 following a two-week trial at Leeds Crown Court.
Yep, proving once again that gays are normal people, just like you and me......
Jesus had some harsh things to say about people who would corrupt an innocent child. Those who would put a child in a gay household will burn for eternity.
We know from media reports that gay people make ideal parents because they have no sexual interest whatever in young folks. Therefore, this obviously didn’t happen. Must be right-wing propaganda.
Recall Jeffrey Dahmer being stopped by police with one of his naked, bleeding, underage victims. The police let him go, because they figured it was just a lovers’ quarrel.
These poor kids had no advocates. So sad.
Bring back the orphanages
Give in to their constant complaints of being discriminated against and this is what you get.
This must have seemed like a delivery service to the pedophiles.
PC is all about allowing specifically described groups be held exempt from rules and standards the rest of us have to abide by.
How many of these children were confiscated from their natural parents who were deemed “less worthy” (i.e. not wealthy enough) than this gay couple?
Craig Faunch (left) and Ian Wathey , were jailed last year for sexually abusing young boys
Do you remember in 1994 when Newt said that and the media went insane?
Newt was a big-mouth embarrassment, but the two who did this should hang.
If you fall for the liberal media spin.
Yep. Worse is the call to the police by a woman whose daughter went to school with boy. She pleaded with the police to intervene, saying there is no way this child was an adult, her daughter knew him from school and he was just learning English. The D*** cops just blew her off.
You still need safeguards in place. The orphanages of the victorian era were hell holes and breeding grounds for criminals.
How about the pregnant woman in England who has been notified that her infant will be confiscated as soon as it is born, because she might possibly commit "emotional abuse" at some indefinite point in the future? UK social services has become nothing more than a baby-snatching conspiracy for the benefit of wealthy homosexuals.
I read recently that more than one-quarter of the people in England now work for the Government at some level. They form an unbeatable voting bloc in favor of higher taxes, less freedom, and busybody intervention in everyone else's life. As in all countries, government workers tend to be the stupidest and laziest people, with the most worthless college degrees, and the greediest sense of entitlement to other peoples' money and children.
I am starting to think that the spectacle of a million jobsworths hanging from lamp posts would be a salutary improvement. Certainly the nanny-state tyranny will never be eradicated at the ballot box, not when so many people depend on the Queen's shilling. The decent citizens who actually produce goods and services for their fellow man, raise families, and pay the tab for the useless eaters in government, are going to have to take some very harsh action if they want to preserve the British way of life.
Don’t forget Jesus say the item about the millstone around the neck.
The favorite straw-man of the homo crowd is, “a child is better off with a ‘loving’ gay family than with an ‘abusive’ heterosexual family.”
Then they use this as an excuse to confiscate children from loving heterosexual families in order to place them with abusive gays.
Didn’t England just kick Catholic organizations out of adoption services for failure to accommodate same-sex couples?
I'd settle for about 10 minutes, sans fire extinguishers.
Yes that really got them in a uproar
The UK Government has said that adoption agencies should not discriminate against gays when choosing foster parents. The Catholic organisations (which make up a very significant proportion of them) are fighting it, but it looks like a losing battle.
Personally, if I was them I’d pull out completely. The state wants to pick up the slack, let the state explain the tax hike to the electorate.
