In 77 I was making twelve dollars a hour in the union tending masons. Masons made fifteen. Today those numbers are 26 and 28. Thats about a 60% increase?

Here's one calculator, as mentioned there are many out there using a variety of metrics.

http://www.westegg.com/inflation/

What cost $12 in 1977 would cost $41.06 in 2006. Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2006 and 1977, they would cost you $12 and $3.51 respectively.

What cost $15 in 1977 would cost $51.32 in 2006. Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2006 and 1977, they would cost you $15 and $4.38 respectively.

Inflation is winning. My paycheck is not keeping up with it.

Over half that wage increase has been in the past ten years since the illegals took over the trades.
