I don't see pale, but he has lost weight, as he's been working out daily to get in physical shape for the campaign.
Sorry I misread your post. I’ve seen that sentiment expressed in exactly the same way by some Fred bashers here on FR.
I don’t think we have anything to worry about. :) Go Fred!
Moderators:
Please delete my post, it has been grossly misinterpreted as a slam on FRed and I’m a supporter of him.
Thank you.
It’s okay. Fred aged pretty rapidly, as some men do. I don’t watch Law & Order or any such thing, so the last time I had seen Thompson before his presidential run was in a movie called “Necessary Roughness”...he looked strong and powerful then, a marked contrast to now. The most robust Republican candidate is clearly Romney.
I wasn’t attacking you. You asked if anybody had noticed what you had, and I answered.
They know that they’re running for the second spot, they just can’t admit it in public.
Woohoo.
New tagline time.
great tag
I don't think he was a member, I got some bad info. I 'googled' it (CFR members), and the site that I went to said he was. But then I 'googled' a couple more sites, and he was not listed.
Condi Rice, Newt Gingrich AND Dick Cheney were members, though.
I apologize for not corroborating it with at least a few others sites. But Condi Rice, Dick Cheney, Newt Gingrich and 3 of the last 4 Presidents before Bush43 WERE members.
Ok so what’s this have to do with my post?
I agree. There are certain issues today that a politician could go "all in" on and create a near-landslide.
As you'll recall, the clear reason why the GOP lost in '06 was that their voters stayed home. Any successful Republican candidate needs to get these voters back to the polls in '08.
There are three issues that, as a package, would do it:
1. Victory in Iraq and the War on Terror.
2. Effective border security and domestic enforcement
3. Make the Bush tax cuts permanent.
Everything else is ancillary to these issues. Corruption, crime, family values, judges, the economy, etc. all orbit around these three planets.
The voters want something important accomplished! A candidate proposing to actually accomplish something important has an opportunity.
In many respects, this is like the 1980 election -- when the same ol' shit wasn't going to hack it. Y'all recall who won that election? And why?
Identify the media as an enemy of your campaign.
Most Americans recognize the bias in the MSM and disapprove of it. You won't lose any votes by doing this.
At the same time, you might alter the media's behavior. Some will engage in deep-dish navel gazing and conclude that you might have a point -- moderating their coverage...a little. >[? Others will go insane -- declaring their hatred and sliding their coverage further toward the edge. That won't hurt, either...
At some point, GOP politicians have got to call a spade a spade.
