No charges will be filed against a middle school administrator whose toddler daughter died last month when she was left in the back seat of her mother's SUV during a heat wave, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

Leaving the child in the car for the work day was "a substantial lapse of due care" but did not meet the definition of reckless conduct necessary for prosecution, said Clermont County Prosecutor Don White.

Brenda Nesselroad-Slaby, 40, is assistant principal at Glen Este Middle School, about 20 miles east of Cincinnati. Authorities said she left her 2-year-old daughter, Cecilia, strapped into a car seat for about eight hours on Aug. 23 while she was at work at the school.

Temperatures outside reached about 100 degrees.

So, an “assistant principal at Glen Este Middle School” isn’t even smart enough to not leave her kid in the car for 8 hours. Hmmmmm.....

while she was at work at the school.

No doubt busy creating a curriculum that includes "gay studies" and "global awareness indoctrination" not to mention "abortion information" to mold young minds.

Not prosecuting the perp teacher is a “substantial lapse of prosecutorial responsibility”....

My God, 8 hours in a car with high temperatures, unbelievable

"Brenda Nesselroad-Slaby, 40, is assistant principal at Glen Este Middle School,..."

This woman is an assistant principal to your children and leaves her own 2 YR OLD strapped in a car seat, inside her parked car in front of school?

As awful as that child abuse was, she now will receive NO punishment?

Where has America gone?

Sure sounds like there's one set of rules for our lords & masters in government, and another set for the rest of us.

Is there any doubt that a Mrs. Schmoe with no governmental connection would be facing charges?

The law in Ohio does not provide for charges to be filed when a ‘mistake has been made.’ The woman thought she’d taken the child to the sitter before she stopped for a huge box of donuts. She forgot the child was in the car.

I can’t understand why this wouldn’t fall under neglect or child endangerment.

My God, this child was in her life for TWO YEARS, and it didn’t even register that she was in the car!

Unbelievable.

The unintended consequences of “car seat madness” and regulations mandated by some “well meaning” but stupid, know nothing bureaucrat.

When you were ALLOWED to put the seat in the FRONT SEAT folks never “forgot” that the kid was in the car.

BUT, the nanny crats didn’t like that idea. Kids got killed because Big Brother Mandated air bags crushed them.

I wonder how many kids really died before air bags and all this “good intention”.?

Seems more kids die from being burned up on a hot day, than ever flew through the windshield.

Seems the more the nanny crats tinker, the more kids die.

If the father did this, he’d be serving time.

I have sympathy for this mother. I can see how this could happen. Maybe her husband usually takes the child to a sitter, and she had to do it instead this day. She was thinking about work, the child was sleeping and the motherjust plain forgot the child was in the car.

Very sad, but give the woman a break.

So she remembers to get donuts and forgets her child.

These stories just overwhelm me with despair sometimes.

In other news, Officer Lovejoy of the Chandler Police was arrested and charged yesterday in the accidental death of his police dog under the very same circumstances

I’ve tried to tell myself that losing her child and living with the fact that SHE could have prevented it is more punishment than anything the law could dish out.

It isn’t working for me, but I’ve tried.

The mom:

Did Brenda Nesselroad-Slaby Get Away With Murder?

She's too pretty to go to jail. I think that's the problem here.

I could never trust this person again around children, she is unfit to perform her job. This is a classic case of double standards.
