To: dashing doofus

“I feel bad for the few conservative areas in upstate NY that are left. Long Island used to be pretty solid republican (how D’Amato stayed in office so long, despite his inability to carry a tune on the Senate Floor), but now that has gone lefty too.”

D’Amato was on Fox News today speaking glowingly of Fred Thompson. I was glad to hear it, and also wondered how much bad blood there was between himself and Guiliani. I would have guessed he’d have backed a fellow NY’er. I didn’t think D’Amato was a core conservative.

Just made me wonder what the real deal is.

I’m not sure, but I think what passes for a conservative in NY is someone like Bloomberg. A real conservative is unelectable in a statewide election.
