Ex-Va. ACLU Head Sentenced For Child Porn
CBS News ^ | Sept. 8, 2007 | AP

Posted on 09/08/2007 8:10:19 AM PDT by DTogo

(AP) A man who for 12 years served as president of the Virginia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union was sentenced to seven years in prison for downloading what authorities said was some of the "most abhorrent" child pornography they have ever seen.

The prison term for Charles Rust-Tierney, 52, of Arlington, is one year less than the minimum sentence suggested under federal sentencing guidelines, and more than the five-year term defense attorneys wanted.

Rust-Tierney said depression and "plummeting self-esteem" led him astray.

Interestingly, the Free Thinker pedos have petitioned the ACLU because they want to have the age of consent lowered or removed entirely.

“Plummeting self-esteem” caused him to download illegal child porn? Did viewing child porn improve his self-esteem? Maybe his “popularity” in prison will improve his self-esteem as well.

The Washington Post headline on this was a little coy about the ACLU perv: “Man get 7 years in child porn case.” Typical. I’m surprised they even allowed the word “porn” in the headline.

Ellis said Friday that the pornography downloaded by Rust-Tierney "was of the most abhorrent kind," including torture and sexual assaults on children as young as 6.

Rust-Tierney paid hundreds of dollars to subscribe to multiple illegal child pornography Web sites at least as far back as 2004, authorities said. When he was arrested, police found roughly 850 still images and 36 videos of child pornography.

Hopefully, many horny prison Bubba's will pass this scum-bag around daily.

Alexandria, Va. (WUSA) -- A public defender from Arlington now finds that he is the accused. Fifty-one year old Charles Rust-Tierney appeared in United States District Court in Alexandria Wednesday.

He’s accused of receiving and possessing child pornography, and investigators outlined what they say they found after searching his home.

They say Rust-Tierney had video showing, among other things, the sexual torture of infants and toddlers. The judge said she’d never heard of child pornography that vile and said because of that, Rust-Tierney would stay behind bars until his trial.

Rust-Tierney is a father himself and also a coach of Arlington-area youth little league and soccer teams. In court, dozens of his friends and family members voiced support for him. They say they have never suspected him of improper contact with kids.

More from O'Reilly at Human Events. He focuses on the media suppression angle.

One of the images Tierney was in possession of showed a little girl tied up and screaming while being violently raped.

"I know what I have done is wrong, morally and legally," he said Friday. "My conduct in paying the producers of this material is reprehensible. I am filled with contrition, remorse and shame."

The POS doesn't own up to his sickness, only vaguely alluding to "paying producers." He's a disgusting excuse for a human being.

Several dozen people wrote letters to the judge on Rust-Tierney's behalf, and more than 20 people attended Friday's hearing to support him...

All who "support him" are condemned by me as enabling, disgusting, filth, just like the ACLU pervert.

Ellis said Friday that the pornography downloaded by Rust-Tierney "was of the most abhorrent kind," including torture and sexual assaults on children as young as 6.

Rust-Tierney paid hundreds of dollars to subscribe to multiple illegal child pornography Web sites ...

< Prosecutor Edward McAndrew...suggested in court papers that many of Rust-Tierney's supporters would be less likely to stand with him had they actually seen the type of pornography that Rust-Tierney was receiving.

He should get at least 25 years, imo.

More than one "postie" counted this guy as a very close friend and confidant.

They're quakeing in their boots over there, all the way to the Board Room.

This is consistent with the deal some years back where the top guys sent a team down to the quadrennial Boy Scout Jamboree to talk sex with some of the boys.

That problem, too, went all the way to the top. The Board tried to make an appearance of dealing with the problem at that time. This time, though, I think the ACLU guy is going to rat them out trying to get his sentence reduced.

One of the facets of this type of crime that I find particularly horrifying is that so many people come to the defense of such a person.

“In court, dozens of his friends and family members voiced support for him. They say they have never suspected him of improper contact with kids.”

Those who do this sort of thing would have you believe that they are just like you and me. They are not. And just because they act “normal” around you and me does not mean that they are not a danger. Of course they are “normal” with you and me, because we are not children.

Even if they try to use the argument that they only look and never touch, that means nothing to me. The fact that they look means there is a market for their twisted perversion. That market severely harms children. There is no excuse for a person like this.

“Low self-esteem”?! Give me a break. The cure for low self-esteem is to go out and do something worthwhile. Something that you can be proud of. Wallowing in scum is just the opposite of what he should have been doing. Maybe the porn is what caused his low self-esteem and not the other way around. I’d have low self-esteem, too, if I did something so scummy.

“All computers assigned to or belonging to ACLU staffers need to be examined.”

I agree totally.

I am also very concerned about the incestuous relationships among lawyers and judges. (no pun intended) They all look out for each other because they know each other so well. Wrongdoing by “one of their own” seems to be punished far less severely than wrongdoing by a random member of the public. If anything, the opposite should be true. Lawyers and judges should know better and be held to a higher standard, not a lower one. Same goes for Congressmen (who are mostly lawyers, anyway.)
