Congressman Ron Paul spoke at the memorial service for Aaron Russo Friday morning in West Hollywood, California.

Mr. Russo had a long and accomplished career in the entertainment industry and was a leading advocate in the freedom movement. He was one of the first public figures to endorse Dr. Paul for president in January of this year.

Russo also sounded off on 9/11, openly airing his view for the first time that it was a complete inside job.

"People know that 9/11 was an inside job," said Russo, "look what they did here in America, look at 9/11, look what they did - they killed thousands of Americans - people jumping out of windows from a hundred floors up - they don't care," said the director.

"There's no way that Building 7 came down without a controlled demolition, it takes weeks to do the controlled demolition, they couldn't have done it in a few hours like Larry Silverstein said - it blows the whole game - concrete doesn't turn to powder unless its exploded."

Didn’t he also attempt to get the mental health testing of all of the children in school and all Americans stopped? You know the mental health testing that was put in the Health Disabilities Act. I thought he also attempted to get it defunded with a bill put before the senate.

Here’s the thing: you have to GO to a memorial service willingly. It’s probably because Russo endorsed Ron Paul for President earlier this year.

Ron Paul went to the memorial service of a guy who was a part of the Libertarian Party since 1999. Beforehand, after running for Governor of Nevada and finishing second in the Republican primary...he turns around and ENDORSES the Democrat candidate (former Las Vegas mayor) Jan Laverty Jones, who lost to Republican Kenny Guinn.
True, Guinn was a RINO, but you know all you need to know about Jones: she endorses Hillary Clinton for President. Heck, she’s going to co-chair her campaign’s “National Women’s Business Council”.

And of course, there’s his trutherism.

For all Ron Paul’s talk about how he doesn’t get his marching orders from Al Qaeda, he sure hangs out a lot with folks who think America had more to do wth 9/11 than Al Qaeda.

As a long-time third-party activist (original Constitution Party, running for Libertarian nomination, running for governor of Nevada, etc.), he probably got to know Ron Paul in that way.

His film on the decline of privacy and the rise of police-state methods (America: From Freedom To Fascism) seems to be the focus of his recent work.

I notice his Wiki page doesn't even mention his Trutherism views and the PrisonPlanet article it's from seems to indicate that his Trutherism is merely a component of his broader political agenda.

Mr. Speaker, all Americans mourn the death of President Ronald Reagan, but those of us who had the opportunity to know him are especially saddened. I got to know President Reagan in 1976 when, as a freshman congressman, I was one of only four members of that body to endorse then-Governor Reagan’s primary challenge to President Gerald Ford. I had the privilege of serving as the leader of President Reagan’s Texas delegation at the Republican convention of 1976, where Ronald Reagan almost defeated an incumbent president for his party’s nomination.

I was one of the millions attracted to Ronald Reagan by his strong support for limited government and the free-market. I felt affinity for a politician who based his conservative philosophy on “… a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom…” I wish more of today’s conservative leaders based their philosophy on a desire for less government and more freedom.

Ronald Reagan was one of the most eloquent exponents of the freedom philosophy in modern American politics. One of his greatest achievements was converting millions of Americans to the freedom philosophy; many he inspired became active in the freedom movement. One of the best examples of President Reagan’s rhetorical powers was his first major national political address, “A Time for Choosing.” Delivered in 1964 in support of the Goldwater presidential campaign, this speech launched Ronald Reagan’s career as both a politician and a leader of the conservative movement. The following excerpt from that speech illustrates the power of Ronald Reagan’s words and message. Unfortunately, these words are as relevant to our current situation as they were when he delivered them in 1964:

It's time we asked ourselves if we still know the freedoms intended for us by the Founding Fathers. James Madison said, "We base all our experiments on the capacity of mankind for self-government."

This idea - that government was beholden to the people, that it had no other source of power - is still the newest, most unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man. This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.

You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man's age-old dream - the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order, or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism.

Regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have embarked on this downward path. Plutarch warned, "The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits."

The Founding Fathers knew a government can't control the economy without controlling people. And they knew when a government set out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. So we have come to a time for choosing.

One of the most direct expressions of Ronald Reagan’s disdain for big government came during a private conversation I shared with him when flying from the White House to Andrews Air Force Base. As the helicopter passed over the monuments, we looked down and he said, “Isn’t that beautiful? It’s amazing how much terrible stuff comes out of this city when it’s that beautiful.”

While many associate Ronald Reagan with unbridled militarism, he was a lifelong opponent of the draft. It is hardly surprising that many of the most persuasive and powerful arguments against conscription came from President Reagan. One of my favorite Reagan quotes comes from a 1979 article he wrote for the conservative publication Human Events regarding the draft and related “national service” proposals:

 “...it [conscription] rests on the assumption that your kids belong to the state. If we buy that assumption then it is for the state- not for parents, the community, the religious institutions or teachers- to decide who shall have what values and who shall do what work, when, where and how in our society. That assumption isn’t a new one. The Nazis thought it was a great idea.”

I extend my deepest sympathies to Ronald Reagan’s family and friends, especially his beloved wife Nancy and his children. I also urge my colleagues and all Americans to honor Ronald Reagan by dedicating themselves to the principles of limited government and individual liberty.

Ron Paul is a good man and Aaron Russo has some very interesting videos on youtube. While I don’t agree with Russo’s notion that 911 was a conspiracy, I do find his IRS views quite intriguing. I am glad that at least one presidential candidate (Paul) is talking about making the US Government smaller, particularly when it comes to the IRS.

If you read the Wikipedia article about him, you would see that Mr. Russo had quite a career. His ideas on government, taxes, Nafta, national identity, etc. seem to agree with RP. Given his accomplishments, he was probably very well off and may have been a significant contributor to RP for a long time. Do you think it is RP’s duty to vet all of his contributors?

Hagel is retiring because Bunning has taken all his republican support from him and was going to defeat him for the GOP nomination. Hagel is retiring, so he is not defeated. Hagel owns words have caused him to retire. The same thing will happen to Paul. Republicans hate this guy now and deservedly so. You Libertarians can not save his arse when he runs for reelection. I have a large family presence in south Houston that in Paul’s district that has voted for him in the past that will not now. My brother travels in republican circles there and there is no support for him in the GOP. Libertarians yes, but his largest voting bloc he needs, he has alienated and pissed off and he will not get that back.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Democratic Party was considered the War Party. Wilson got us into WW I, FDR got us into WW II, Truman got us a no win situation in Korea, Kennedy/Johnson got us into Nam.

Actually I don’t think RP cares about whether or not he wins the next election, he is more concerned about doing the right thing.

Even if you Ron Paul h*ters don’t like some of his positions, you should admire him for his consistent, principled stands on the issues. You should also admire him as the most honest politician, or at least in the top 5 of the most honest politicians in recent history.

It will be interesting tonight to see what time slot O’Reilly gives Ron Paul on his show. The later the slot, the more he thinks RP will bring an audience.

I do not really post here anymore as it is my mothers account and I feel that if I even respectfully gave my point of view or attempted to debate my mother would get a warning.
