warned before that although the shamnesty behemoth was slain, Congress would try to sneak piecemeal shamnesty into legislation this session.
Well, its baaaaaaaack. Reader E.M. e-mails about the return of the DREAM Act, which gives illegal alien students special in-state college tuition discounts not available to native-born American students and legal immigrant students:
The DREAM Act, previously S.774, has been introduced as an amendment to H.R. 1585, National Defense Authorization Act (Defense Authorization Bill) as SA 2237, Title XXXIII (National Defense Stockpile), Sec. 3301 (Authorized Uses Of National Defense Stockpile Funds). It is number 254 of 353 proposed amendments.
Who but our corrupt and pandering senators would think of incorporating the DREAM Act into stockpile provisions buried at the end of the lengthy Defense Bill?
Dick Durbin is the sponsor.
Keep your eye on this one.
A true hater of the USA...
Here we go again.................................
crooked traitorous ba$tards!!
“Who but our corrupt and pandering senators would think of incorporating the DREAM Act into stockpile provisions buried at the end of the lengthy Defense Bill?”
Bush would.
Remember in 1996 the Immigration Reform Act did away with anchor babies. US citizen minors were sent out of the USA with the parents because “custody follows the parents” not the citizenship.
HOWEVER with this Dream Act AMNESTY, you now turn ALL minors regardless of citizenship into anchor babies. All they have to do is attend a PUBLIC TAXPAYER FUNDED school for two years.
Dream Act = AMNESTY
.
Michelle is a little behind. The STRIVE Act is currently in a Judiciary Committee of the House. It incorporates the DREAM Act right along with amnesty. The worst of all bills are in the STRIVE Act.
every ILLEGAL ALIEN in the public schools becomes an anchor baby for those 15 million.
It is a mad rush to enrol illegals into public school.
(what about public adult education do they count too?)
this is a Dream Act AMNESTY is a flood gate law for serial immigration of illegals.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

Exactly!
Can anyone get this Durbin AMNESTY effort to Rush’s attention?
Thanks for posting the detailed specifics of this detestable attempt to violate the so recently expressed determination of the people to prevent this pirating of our treasure. I had already called both of my Senators today, but I called back with this information.
It’s called... we give you freebies... we get your vote.
Bush would.
BINGO!!
If the can get either one through to committee they will attempt to join them together and pass them.
The DREAM Act is already a part of the STRIVE Act.

Conservative lawmakers who say the American people need a signal that Congress is serious about cracking down on illegal immigration pushed Wednesday for more border security funding in a defense spending bill.
The Senate gave a nod to one of those efforts, agreeing 94-3 to an amendment to the Defense Department appropriations bill providing $1.83 billion for 370 miles of triple-layered fencing and 461 miles of vehicle barriers on the U.S.-Mexican border.
The defense bill is far from final. A vote on the larger spending bill is pending and if passed would have to be reconciled with the House bill.
The Senate immigration bill authorizes construction of 370 miles of fencing and several more miles of vehicle barriers but does not provide funding for them. The House has authorized but not funded 700 miles of fencing.
More shenanigans:
Senate Votes Down Funding Of Border Fence
Democrats Vote Against Funding Border Fence
And I know...they had passed some funding in the 2007 DHS bill for the fence...$1.2B...BUT they withheld $950M until the Appropriations Committee approved the fence design (see Border Security Fencing Infrastructure and Technology section of the DHS bill here), so the money that everyone thinks is there for the fence hasn't actually been released yet. So while everyone is screaming at Bush to build the fence, Congress is laughing at you all.
Now Congress is apparently playing frigging hide and seek games with the Defense Appropriations bill again. Call your Congresscritters now and force them to remove all immigration measures from this Defense bill. Immigration measures should pass in the light of day on their own!
Yep!
“Michelle is a little behind.”
She isn’t a very big person physically.
Excuse me...but you are wrong...see Post #18, I have been griping about this for a long time! You are playing right into their hands by blaming Bush.
please explain
explain what?
So, would Senor Bush be against it?.
Also, my other point was that we can't blame Bush for the fence because Congress hasn't released the money yet (additional fence funding is in this Defense bill as well). There is a difference between authorization for the fence and appropriations (funding) for the fence that some people just don't get and the appropriations outlined in the 2007 DHS bill had a stipulation on release of the money that the plan for the fence had to be approved by the Appropriations Committee first. No approval, no $950M. That's one reason I won't vote for Duncan Hunter for President, because he keeps posturing and telling his supporters the money is there for the fence when it clearly is not..and if he doesn't understand the appropriations process as outlined by the Constitution, he has no business being President.
“Also, my other point was that we can’t blame Bush for the fence because Congress hasn’t released the money yet (additional fence funding is in this Defense bill as well).”
Well, Bush has a proposed fiscal 2008 budget in the mix. Wonder how much he requested for the fence in his budget proposal?
We’ve also had promises from Chertoff on how many miles of fencing will be built by certain times. What did he plan to use for funds if none were there? Lots of double talk going on concerning the fence.

Well, that doesn’t clear anything up. Two of your links (AZ Star and “Senate Votes Down Funding of Border Fence) are from 2006, BEFORE passage of the Secure Fence Act in October of 2006. The other reference from 7/13/2007 states that the House voted down a proposal to provide FULL funding for 854 miles of double fencing.
Those links don’t add up to no funds for the fence authorized in 10/2006, and they don’t relate to anything happening in the Senate or House since they returned from the August recess. Partial funds authorized for the 10/2006 bill might well be there, and your links don’t relate to that, but to attempts to add more funding for the 854 miles of fencing authorized in 10/2006.
Your links also don’t relate to what Bush did or did not request in his 2008 budget. We need to know what’s being done now, not a year ago. It seems the Dream Act and Strive Act are currently under consideration, and they relate more to amnesty schemes than to the fence.
Still no clarificaiton
bump for cloture vote tomorrow
