Analysis: The antiwar Republican congressman from Texas poses a serious threat to Hillary Clinton and potential Democratic rivals in the general election.
The presidential race has to a great extent turned into a two issue campaign, immigration and the war in Iraq. Democratic candidates are capitalizing on popular antiwar sentiments among the public but are swimming up stream by apparently supporting President Bushs policy of turning a blind eye toward illegal immigration and unsecured borders.
Republicans running for president, unless sentiments change, are generally positioned against public opinion with their support for the war, however, they are riding the tide of public opinion when it comes to securing the borders and stopping illegal immigration and terrorists from entering the country. (Even if half of them are faking it)
Two Presidential candidates, Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul, clearly support protecting U.S. borders from illegal immigration and terrorist attacks. Both candidates have opposed President Bushs seeming support of the Council On Foreign Relations plans to replace the United States with a North American Union by integrating North America and erasing national boundaries.
Ron Paul sets himself apart from other Republicans by being decidedly antiwar. In a general election this may actually put Paul at a decided advantage over Hillary Clinton and most of her Democratic rivals. Paul will likely steal the thunder from Clintons antiwar rhetoric since he voted against the Iraq war that Hillary Clinton voted for.
At least among those voters that believe the Iraq war was a mistake, including Democrats, Paul will demonstrate his foresight was better than Clintons.
In a general election on the issue of protecting U.S. borders, Paul would likely ride public opinion with his support for protecting U.S. borders while Clinton would be positioned against public opinion.
Paul is generally considered more credible with his popular positions on the war and immigration than his Democratic rivals.
Paul certainly isnt the only Republican that would give Clinton a run for her money he is however, the only Republican that would be getting energized support from both Republican and the Democratic base voters.
Of course, winning the Republican primary is still an uphill battle at this point, unless of course Paul can effectively argue that he is the most likely Republican to win a general election, which only GOP primary voters can decide.
The writer’s last name is Fester.. his topic is Ron Paul..
‘nuff said..
ping
Heck, I thought this would be about Peter Paul.
thoughts? (from a purely political perspective)
Now you have done it. I am craving an Almond Joy.
LOL!
Just what Hillary doesn’t need, a new new threat. lolol
Dangit... Why is it that the Friday Silliness Thread is starting so early in the week?
Am I in the top ten at least?
So, in kooksville fantasy land.
Haha ...
Was Fester the one with the arrow clean through his neck?
ping (blacklist opportunity) :)
I would vote for Charles Manson before Paul or Hitlery.... whoops spelling..... Kankles.
Either way, Manson is more sane than Paul and more trustworthy than the queen, “Her Fat Ankles”
Maybe he and HRC should be on the same ticket. She certainly agrees with him on the war more than most Republicans do.
“Paul Poses Serious Threat to Hillary Clinton in a General Election Match up”
Aliens pose serious threats to US.
Just a likely also.
koolaid ping :)
Aliens as in those from outer space that is........
LOL, yeah, all the moonbats would vote for him instead. It's a pity primary ballots are partisan. I would love it if the rats could vote for Paul in the primary.
After reading many opinions here I suspect the majority of posters at FR would support Hillary over Paul.
This is the left’s plan(Fester’s) for dividing the Republican base?
LOL..Ron Paul ain’t no Ross Perot...OK...LOL.
The media wants to hype him(like they did McCain)....
‘nuff said’
Firtunately, it is extremely doubtful that will come to fruition.

There, it's now accurate.
Fester is an idiot.
mullah picture ping :)
LOL.
Well, there’s a Larry Fester who’s given money to Emily’s List. Not sure if this is the same guy, but, what the heck, here’s the link for the last couple years:
Thorazine ping :)

In the movie I think, not sure about the tv series.
It's past your bed time!
:)
Done! :-)
Which candidate would you support given the choice between Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Paul?
Would be an interesting campaign. IMHO there is no presidential candidate more passionate on the issues of restoring/preserving the individual rights and liberties of citizens, nor more opposed to taxes, budget deficits and big government than Ron Paul.
If Iraq were not an issue in this election, and hopefully it won’t be forever, I think Ron Paul would be an unbeatable candidate. It may be 2012 or some later time when voters look back and wish they had voted for him.
LOL!
I just remembered, it was Doc with the arrow in his neck and Fester was telling the marshall. It was in the song.
Mr. Paul is not going to win the GOP nomination. That’s like saying Kucinich will win the Dem nod. It’s not a player.
I was thinking of the Addams Family, ooops that’s Uncle Fester too, huh? lol
Hillary vs Paul? That’s easy. There’s a little Italian village I know well. Far from the reaches of government and jihadis. I’ll move there and wait it out. There is lots to do in the area, and I could write the great American novel. If America survives whichever fool gets elected I’ll move back after the term is over, maybe.
I’m not saying that Congressman Paul will win the GOP nomination, I’m just asking which candidate most FR posters would support - Hillary or Dr. Paul?
Well, No FReeper is going to support Hillary, but you could put any freak in there and get the same response. It’s an argument that is irrelevant. (To me anyway) :^)
As of post #39 no one has answered the question.
We used to leave those images on ground to air radios all over the place. That’s a hoot. ;^)
its just not realistic enough to be a hypothetical, plus we’d find a pro-war independent somewhere
I may have made the question too tied to the personalities in question. Whose positions do you support, Hillaries or the Congressman’s? Limited or unlimited goverment?

Uncle Fester! Been wondering what you've been up to lately!
Limited government, I’d vote for Ron Paul over Hillary. However, I’d probably deeply regret it if Ron Paul won, mostly because it’s great to have ideas, it stinks when you can’t field a team to do anything with them. And he’s as charismatic as my stamp collection - great for a stamp fan, just glue and paper to any normal person.
