Chris Matthews Sexually Harasses Erin Burnett
MrArbitrage

Posted on 09/13/2007 9:32:40 AM PDT by MrArbitrage123

Another example of liberal hypocrisy

Why is it ok for Democrats to sexually harass employees in the workplace?

Here we have an example of Chris Matthews sexually harassing co-worker Erin Burnett of CNBC on national television. They are indeed co-workers as they both work for the same parent company.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=xKBDOLdU-Ug&mode=related&search=

Granted, Mathews’ speech is slurred and his face is quite red so we could give him the benefit of the doubt and postulate that he had a few too many cocktails at lunch time; however, being inebriated on the job wouldn’t exactly mitigate the circumstance.

Most workplace sexual harassment cases are “he said, she said” (or vice versa) because I would venture to guess most perpetrators of “sexual harassment” wouldn’t dare to brazenly do it in public, much less on national television.

Creepy though this flirtation is, it might seem rather innocuous to Americans long removed from the workplace. However, the people who brought us political correctness (Democrats & their bed fellows the trial lawyers) have formed a corporate world where a furtive glance could be enough to cost an employee their career and cost an employer hundreds of millions of dollars.

The bottom line is that if Erin Burnett wanted to retire ultra-wealthy, this case would be a slam dunk for any predatory lawyer worth his or her salt.

Even so, I doubt that any feminist will be calling for the head of Chris Matthews, “one of their own”. It’s just another example how the elite liberal Democrats think they are above the agenda they promulgate and only believe applies to their scaffold - “the little people”.

Thy say (in the mandatory classes I have to take) that the standard is that if it makes the recipient uncomfortable, then it’s harassment. Far be it from me to contradict the “experts” and in this case she is clearly VERY uncomfortable.

Harris Interactive® survey revealed over a third surveyed (34%) say being asked on a date by their supervisor of the opposite sex is welcome flirting, while 47 percent say it is uncomfortable attention. In addition, 42 percent say being complimented on their body or physique by their supervisor of the opposite sex is welcome flirting, while 36 percent say it is uncomfortable attention.

Working men and working women perceive actions differently
In general, men (66%) appear to be more flirtatious in the workplace than women (52%) and tend to be more tolerant about what is considered flirting as opposed to sexual harassment.

Although men are less likely (17%) to experience sexual harassment than women (35%), the ones who have felt harassed are more likely to do nothing in response (60%), versus 41 percent of women.

Sixty-one percent of men believe that being complimented on your body or physique by a female supervisor is welcome flirting, compared to just 20 percent of women when complimented by a male supervisor.

We could all send Matthews an on-line Home Study Course on what constitutes Sexual Harassment in the workplace. ;)

there are two sets of rules. One for liberals...and one set for the rest of us.

Its always been that way. It always will be that way.

"Your so full of it. I am not defending him but its no where near what you call it. It was human interaction nothing more nothing less." No, I'm not "full of it". You're just obtuse. I think most people here would understand that my intention wasn't to hold that sexual harassment allegation out as my OWN PERSONAL VIEW. What I do believe is that if we apply the "standards" implemented in the workplace by the hypocritical liberals, that is indeed sexual harassment. I have been indoctrinated by enough HR Departments in corporate America to know that telling a co-worker she is "beautiful" and telling her she is a "knockout" is unexceptable. I didn't say I think it is right. An evil white male of all people is NOT allowed to tell some broad in the office, unsolicited, how attractive he thinks she is or that he thinks she's a knockout. It's only tolerable if the white male is a left-winged pseudo-journalist. If you are that far removed from today's reality, I cannot help you. :) MrArbitrage

Her body language showed embarrassment, after he explained why he wanted her closer to the screen. She fell for it, and her eyes looked down. He made her uncomfortable with the “compliment” and laughed about it. She could not think fast enough to respond back, which showed she was uncomfortable with the comment. She should have said. Psst! Chris, did you know your fly was down? That would have shut him up. She has to fight her own battles, and be quick on her feet if she is to be successful in her co-host spot.

His wife, Kathleen, will address it, if she feels the need. She’s a successful professional and was a past co-anchor in the same type of media environment.

I said Matthew’s wife or Burnett will take care of it, if it becomes an issue. We do not know if they jest like that off cameras as well. We know nothing about their working relationship. It was uncomfortable which is clearly seen asking her to get closer and closer to the camera as she is a beautiful woman. It could have been a “gottcha” type remark. They both laughed about it. What else could she do, she was on camera. Play along to get along.

I am just stating that companies frown on this as a legal pt of view.

Nothing wrong with my life. How’s yours doin’ ? ;)

Is that the best reply you’ve got?

They’re probably sleeping together.

I doubt it. If she was going to sleep with a tubby married old guy from her own network, she wouldn't be sleeping with another talking head - let alone one with a lower-rated show than hers.

She'd be sleeping with Phil Griffin or some other top executive who could actually boost her career.
