GOE III Mega-Thread
Right on the Right ^ | 9-13-07 | Justin Higgins

In case you're wondering if my site is going to be all Gathering of Eagles, all the time, until after the event, the answer is yes. This is going to be my mega-thread, with all the information running up to my live coverage. E-mail me if you'd like to be included.

I have a poll running, asking about how many people will show up to GOE III.

Front Page Magazine has an interview with Chris Hill, the National Director of Operations for the Gathering of Eagles. Chris has had a busy week, leading some veterans and others to speak to Congress on Monday, and has spent the rest of his time organizing for Saturday's event.

The Washington Times also had an article in the Metro section, which included scathing criticism of the ANSWER nitwits and praise for the Gathering. Here's part of what the Times chose to print:

Fortunately, the nitwits will be blunted in part by the pro-America, pro-soldier, pro-victory group known as the Gathering of Eagles. It is a shame that we live in an upside-down time, when it is necessary to have a group pointing out that we live in the best nation in the world, period, and that millions of poor souls want to come here and nowhere else.

On the blog front, Michelle Malkin is doing an amazing job promoting the event and outlining the reasons this rally has to happen. She's been covering acts of desecration and vandalism, and in case you missed it, her most recent post includeds this video report:

(Video at Link)

In addition to Michelle Malkin's report on the vandalism, Free Republic has a thread about Michelle's post with plenty of insight and commentary, including a link to a Human events post also about the vandalism.

In other blog coverage, Screw Politically Correct B.S. has a pretty long diatribe standing in support of the Eagles and bashing Sheehan and the ANSWER commies.

On the internet radio front, Political Pistachio Radio had a show last night covering 9/11, six years later, and talking about the Gathering of Eagles. He'll also be bringing updates from DC in on his Saturday show, which is worth listening to.

Chickenhawk Express has a post up about the vandalism, which is being downplayed by the National Park Service and others. The post is appropriately entitled, "Cleaning Accident My Foot." I have to agree.

National Review Online correspondant Mark Hemingway has a report online which includes some pictures from the protesters that walked the halls of Congress Monday. He also noticed that the anti-war protesters didn't rule the day. Here's one part of his coverage:

Of course, the protesters didn’t rule the day. Because what few protesters were there had competition. Jim on the left is a Navy veteran who came all the way from his house in Belize to show his support for the war effort. Larry, on the right, is a former Navy SEAL who spent 27 years in service to his country. He doesn’t want the “far Left to dominate the debate the way they did in Vietnam”

There are pictures on the NRO site. Apparently lots of local sites are covering both sides of the protest. DCist has a report on both sides up.

Keep checking in on this thread, as it's going to be constantly updated with more reports on the weekend events. Eagles up!

Very Good Recap. Hopefully you’ll have a lot of Pics of GoE III.

And I voted.

We have 7 of us car pooling down from the Haliburton funded Olney Compound. Five locals, one from Philadelphia and one from SC.

Bump & Update: The Washington Times is running another scathing critique of ANSWER and another piece praising the Gathering. Excerpt:
It's no secret that ANSWER supporters are among the most radical fringe of the antiwar movement. An ANSWER founder is Ramsey Clark, a former U.S. Attorney General, a member of the Communist World Worker's Party and one of Saddam Hussein's defense attorneys. And we can't forget Mrs. Sheehan, from CodePink, who referred to terrorists as "freedom fighters." ANSWER's Web site is plastered with ads for Che Guevara shirts and urges readers that "protesting is not enough." Indeed, the movement is lurching toward civil disobedience, since they can't seem to drum up enough support for their cause among mainstream Americans.
Kat from CatHouse Chat is on her way to GOE III. Being one of the various Wide Awakes Radio bloggers heading there, I should be following her updates very intently. Melanie Morgan has written a column in WorldNetDaily. It's mostly a well-deserve diatribe against the MoveOn.org crowd, but she does bring up some GOE III issues. Here's an important note:
I can't guarantee I'll read all the death threats and foul language e-mail from the "peace crowd." I'm too busy co-emceeing the patriotic Gathering of Eagles rally in Washington, D.C., which will be broadcast on C-Span this Saturday.
Black Cat Bone has blogged on GOE III and they regret they can't attend. Wild Bill from Passionate America is inbound to D.C., partially because of donations made here at ROTR. Thank you for that! Excerpt:
Excited doesn’t even begin to describe the mood I am in. I am headed for Washington DC to attend and support the Gathering Of Eagles as we stand up against the anti-American, anti-war protesters that will be stinking up our nation’s capital on Saturday, September 15th. If you can make it to Washington DC on Saturday I hope to see you there.
GOE has friends in Colorado. Plenty of pics and videos are online from a pro-troop rally in Colorado. It includes some pretty funny videos and some great photos. Check it out. Blogger Chris Dickson is urging folks to join the Gathering on Saturday morning. I echo his sentiments. The title of his post is awesome: "Eagles Up! Chickens Down!" A blog called Kowabunga has a post up about both the ANSWER rally and GOE III. It's obvious the author is on our side, saying the following about the Gathering:
Meanwhile, over the same weekend, the Gathering of Eagles is also staging a pro-Victory protest. I really wish I could attend this event. "Operation Eagle Justice," as the GOE event is called, has been in the planning for months now. I suspect that there may well be far more of them than of the pro-terrorist protestors in D.C.
Need some more logistical information? I got a map up in a previous post outlining where Eagles will be meeting and rallying. Bump to the Top & Update: Welcome Michelle Malkin readers! President Bush has just finished speaking, telling the country that we need to unify and stand for victory. He is also speaking directly to the Iraqi people. It's looking good. Task Force Eagle results are in, and the members of GOE who decided to take to the halls of Congress had plenty of progress, meeting with Senator Mitch McConnell and many others. A report from Niles, Illinois on the "Fight for Victory Tour" is up on Free Republic. Make sure you read it all. The amazing Michelle Malkin is once again chiming in, bringing all the important logistics information to the world in yet another front page post. This event is going to be huge.

Bumping this.

I hope this has the same draw as GOE I. That was a blast, even if we did freeze parts of the body I didn’t know could freeze.
