The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Committee today announced that veteran actor and director Robert Duvall, along with his wife Luciana, are supporting Mayor Rudy Giuliani for President of the United States.
The Duvalls will also host a fundraiser for the Mayor at their Virginia home later this month.
Rudy has consistently proven hes ready to confront tough challenges, said Duvall. I dont normally get involved in politics, but I think the stakes are too high this election. Mayor Giuliani has the executive experience, proven record and bold vision needed to lead our country. Luciana and I are proud to support him.
As a fan and an admirer of Mr. Duvalls work for some time, I am honored to have Robert and his wife Lucianas support and help on our campaign, said Mayor Giuliani. Their willingness to not only offer their support, but to open their home is a tremendous contribution. I am excited to have the Duvalls on our team.

Mr. Duvall, please reconsider! Thompson - or even Ron Paul - is better!
Still, Rob't Duvall's one of my favorites. I LOVE the smell of Napalm in the morning. That's bold talk for a one-eyed fatman! I have a special practice, I work for only one client.

Duvall does kinda look like him. Just put on some glasses and add a lisp, and he could be a rudy double.
To: freedomdefender
Duvall’s one of the finest actors hollywood has ever produced.
I don’t really care what his politics are. Im just happy he is a republican.

Obviously he does not value his gun rights. He was never a wartime consigliere.

Maybe this is a ruse - the plan’s to take Rudy to a Nevada brothel and get him liquored up.
To: freedomdefender
At least its not yet another hollywood-Democrat endorsement.

Robert Duvall is a Republican, not a conservative.
One guy who is a conservative and has been an actor, is the same guy Duvalla dn his wife will be voting for in Nov2008. Fred Thompson.

I saw Giuliani on the Hannity-Colmes show tonight, after Pres. Bush’s speech, and I have to say he came across very well - strong on national defense and strong on taking on the dems - but I just couldn’t help imagining him in a dress. I don’t know why that is.

Whenever an actor of any political stripe publicly endorses a politician, remember that actors often do so out of a personal favor, or because they are cronies.
Ask yourself, what is Duval's connection with the Rooty?
I like DUval as an actor but know little of whether he is politically savy or not. Most actors are not politically savy, and are real flakey people when it comes to supporting a politician.
Clint Eastwood is politically astute, even though I do not agree with his politics most of the time. Barbara Streisand is a moonbat. Matt Damen is a moon bat, etc. The Governator is politically astute, but has his flakey moments which we have seen lately.
If I were Rooty, I would not be too flattered that an actor endorses him. Its a very mixed record on whether it is positive or not.
I wouldn't vote for Rooty if John Wayne emerged into life again and endorsed him.

Hey, Hollywood is STILL Hollywood, they feel much more at home with the "Pro-Choice," "Pro-Gay" views of Rudy than they ever will with anyone who supports LIFE and "Man and Wife."
No matter how you cut it, most "conservatives" in Hollywood stars, music stars and actors, would really qualify as RINOs (libertarian-lites.)

Great actor! At least he isn’t licking the derrierres of people like John Kerry...
My favorite line from his movies (on par with “I love the smell of naplam...” is from the movie “Open Range” when he gave a toast:
“Good health to them who has it comin...”

Who cares? How can anyone get excited about any of these assclowns? Thompson, Romney, Giuliani, Clinton, Obama, Edwards. Americans can all mourn that NONE of these individuals represents the best and the brightest amongst us. Possibly the most mediocre and uninspiring group of presidential candidates in history.

strong on national defense and strong on taking on the dems Yes...he is certainly NOT liberal on many issues.
If he would leave some of those socially liberal issues to the states, I could definitely vote for him.
To: BBell
Here's another one of his movies that I thought was great. The Great Santini. I've watched some of Alfred Hitchcock's tv shows and Duvall stared in at least one of them.
Well, he certainly has a star studded ancestry...George Washington and Robert E Lee. I'm even more impressed with him. It's a shame he never had kids of his own. And I think he was an only child.

Duvall is a great actor. Politically he is not very involved, and his views are best described as mostly (small “l”) libertarian, but definitely not progressive / liberal.
I saw an interview with him where the subject came up - he has a head screwed on right.
