Pro-Bush Group Airs Ads Denouncing Liberal Anti-Petraeus Ad
Associated Press via Fox News ^ | September 14, 2007

WASHINGTON — A political group supporting President Bush's Iraq war strategy with a multimillion-dollar ad campaign is airing a new TV ad denouncing a liberal group's sharp criticism of Gen. David Petraeus.

The campaign is the second rollout of ads by the group, Freedom's Watch, and capitalizes on Democratic Party unease over a newspaper ad run this week by MoveOn.org, one of the leading anti-war voices among liberal activists.

Click here to see the advertisement that Freedom's Watch plans to run (.pdf).

The MoveOn ad appeared Monday in The New York Times on the morning of Petraeus' first appearance before Congress to testify about conditions in Iraq. The ad accused Petraeus of "cooking the books" for the White House. "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?" it asked, playing off his name.

The ad has become a rallying point for Republicans, who have demanded that Democrats disavow it.

Some Democrats have voiced concern. On Monday, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., called the ad "over the top."

The Freedom's Watch ad states: "Name calling, charges of betrayal it's despicable. It's what MoveOn shamefully does — and it's wrong. America and the forces of freedom are winning. MoveOn is losing. Call your Congressman and Senator. Tell them to condemn MoveOn."

Pro Bush group? Why isn’t Moveon.org refered to as a Pro Clinton group?

The transparent bigotry in the AP’s “news” reporting is simply sickening.

Odd that Kerry thinks that’s over the top. Moveon.org was just following the lead of the Senate Dems in attacking Petraeus.

The Winter Soldier himself, infamous for slandering the American fighting man, says this ad was "over the top"? This ad was nothing compared with Kerry's own demonisation of his compatriots in Vietnam. There is a General Betrayus, and he's in the Senate.

One of Bush’s ex-staffers heads the group. I don’t think moveon is similarly structured that way. Two Berkely moonbats started moveon in 1998 during the impeachment stuff. This pro-mission group was recently started by a big time Bush aide (I think speech writter, who’s name I should know but can’t recall).

delete the last symbol in the URL, it should end in “f” for the .pdf file to load.

Maybe even kerry knows something the Dems dont want to let on to: That moveon and the far left are going to hurt the Dems’ cause, even if it is not noticeable just yet, because this whole incident has fired up conservatives and alienated some swing voters. Or so we can hope.

Sorry about the running together. It looked liked it had paragraphs before I hit the “post”.

The ad should have just called the general Ghenis Khan and Kerry would have been OK with it

Yep. That old HTML thing for paragraph breaks is a bother sometimes. It bags me every time I get wrapped up in a good post.

I doubt Kerry thought the ad is "over the top." He did the political calculation after the fact to chose his position.

First, let's address MoveOn's smear of Petraeus. Copying (not linking, it uses my bandwidth) of this cartoon is encouraged.

At least as importantly, though:

MoveOn.org is an anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic hate group.

Here, for example, is what MoveOn had to say about Pope Benedict in 2005:

and there is a huge list of MoveOn.org Action Forum hate speech at my linked Web site, http://moveonpleasemoveon.blogspot.com/ It's vital that we spread the word on this as widely as possible. I'm the person who crippled MoveOn by forcing it to take down its hate-filled Action Forum last year, but I didn't get enough publicity for the scandal to deliver what should have been an organizationally fatal blow--like the one that took out the Million Mom March in 2000 (exposure of its misuse of 501(c)(3) tax exempt money to fund Al Gore's political campaign, the group had to liquidate in the following year).

If the information stays at Free Republic, we will have fun reading it but it won't hurt MoveOn.org
