Scarborough's Sop to Hillary: 'You've Opened Your Heart Even More'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 09/18/2007 5:51:21 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Even as the words were leaving his mouth, Joe Scarborough acknowledged that he was going to get "killed by conservative bloggers." And being the obliging sorts we are here at NewsBusters . . .

Joe's interview of Hillary Clinton on today's "Morning Joe" was one long paean to her greatness coupled with a mea culpa for the wrongs that he and other Republicans visited on her during the '90s.

View video here.

Excerpts:

In return for his adulation, Hillary graced Joe with numerous patronizing head pats of the "great question" and "oh, Joe, I think that's incredibly true" variety.

Clinton even had the audacity to claim that the hardships she's suffered have "made me a little less quick to jump to conclusions, perhaps a little more open to making sure that all sides are heard," and later that "it's kind of hard to be pointing fingers. Instead we should be rolling up our sleeves and getting to work together."

This from the woman who just last week, with her "willing suspension of disbelief" line, effectively called the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq a liar to his face. Joe naturally didn't jeopardize the good vibes by raising that.

..."take your kid to an emergency room anywhere in America at 11 o'clock at night, and then tell me there aren't two Americas."

I've been to the ER at that time of night and always there was always medical staff on hand to assist me - granted the medical attention wasn't free, I didn't expect it to be, but there was no two Americas, the ER staff treated me quickly and professionally.

I always say tell them: take your kid to an emergency room anywhere in America at 11 o'clock at night, and then tell me there aren't two Americas.

That's actually a great line, whether you agree with the sentiment or not. Chris Matthews comes from that sort of background and comes up with great lines, too. It would work great in a speech or a debate. You could even come up with more "examples" and stretch it out.

I don't understand this: I've taken my son to the ER at 10:00 PM and gotten excellent care. I've taken my wife at midnight, and gotten excellent care. It wasn't as quick as I would have liked, but then they weren't life-threatening situations either.

Did I just miss the 11 o'clock shift change, or is this clown just making stuff up to whine about?

One of the things that first soured me on the Republican Party was the revelation that so many of its former leading "conservative" figures never actually believed the words they were saying - it was all a tactic to get re-elected. Democrats do the same thing, spouting fiery leftist rhetoric to appeal to the revolutionary proletariat, then governing exactly like RINOs. Scarborough is one of the primary examples.

But he and Hillary are both members of the RINO/DINO-joint venture known unoffically as the Federal Government Party, so it shouldn't be too surprising to see them holding a lovefest. The danger is that, increasingly, anyone who tries to set a course different from where the Federal Government Party wants to take the country ends up becoming a marginalized and ridiculed figure.

How the mighty have fallen. I remember Joe, the young turk after the 1994 Revolution.

My guess is Scarborough knows his show won't last, and despite his departing the house for financial reasons, he is angling for a new job in a Hillary! administration.

I hope I've grown a lot, because again, the traumas of the 1990s, which were so horrible for you and your husband, and I would say for America. Talk about how your different person today. Cause, God, I think that everybody who went through that has to be a better person if they inspect what we went through.

That phrase is redolent of Marxist/Maoist hyperbole from the salad days of communism.

And yeah, Joe. I do know the linguistic turns very well.

Any bets that her handlers spoonfed him that phrase to be inserted at some point in the interview.

This woman scares me more and more. She’s Marx personified.

And Hillary’s response of her willingness to hear all sides was laughable. She wants to hear all sides’ comments, unless they are from the likes of people like General Petraeus—then she feels the need to call them liars.

‘Do they have enough viewers to even rate on the scale?’

I watch for the simple reason Fox and Friends is way too lightweight in the mornings. I’m fairly certain if Gretchen Carlson thinks really really hard her eyes will remain crossed....the other two are simply clowns and I don’t have the patience first thing in the morning for that crap.

Outside of that, its a great show....

If scarhead likes communism so very much, he should move to Russia and get the “real thing”. Midnight in an emergency room does show two Americas... one for all US Citizens... black, white, yellow, red, blue with pink polka dots... and then there are the illegal invaders that get free health care and priority over US CITIZENS.

hildebeast will cause a hot civil war to break out in America... because some of us will not surrender to communism and sharia law!

As the author of the article [Finkelstein = governs] I can assure you that NewsBusters receives no subsidy from MSNBC. I do acknowledge that there is something of an odd symbiotic relationship, though. Even as we criticize, we are also publicizing their programs. That’s the price we pay for exposing their liberal bias.

There are actually 3 Americas:

The hard working, just trying to make a better life without being interfered with by the government - America; The worthless, “beaten down by the man”, somebody owes me - America; and the “hate America” fairy land that most far left liberals and Hollywood/media elites live in.

Everytime I see Scarborough, I get a queasy stomach.

In trying to curry favor with the hard left at MESSNBC, he constantly takes cheap shots at Conservative Republicans. When he isn't busy sliming Republican's in Washington DC, he's poking fun at the salt-of-the-earth people in the Panhandle of Florida by refering to the area as the "Redneck Riviera," and by extension reinforcing the leftist critique that the Panhandle folks are a bunch of ignorant hayseeds.

He is beyond despicable.

Few politicians from either party, few reporters, few business people, etc., will overtly confront or cross Hillary.

They don’t want to be on the receiving end of her retribution should she actually win the 2008 election.

They would rather softball question now than potentially face her wrath after January 20, 2009.
