Again I’m early, this time by about 3 hours, but...
Howie Carr Show live ping. On the show yesterday Howie’s
producer played “Gimme Three Steps” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
as bumper music and Howie quoted the lyrics: “Gimme three
steps toward the door...” then said “maybe Tom Petty’s
‘I Won’t back Down’ would be a good choice, too, Happy.”
—Last night a “working” version of the new WTKK webpage
was leaked. A new logo and at the top there were pictures
of the WTKK staff—including Howie. The site was still
apparently there this morning complete with working “Listen
Live” link. But it has since been pulled.
—A listener to WTKK’s Sports Huddle heard host Eddie
Andleman close his show by saying “listen to 96.9
on Thursday at 5:30 am”.
—I’m supposing Entercom’s gag order (of sorts) on Howie
means he can’t come out and say he’s leaving though he
has thrown hints (cue Winky the elephant here) and nothing has appeared in the papers. While legal problems probably
still exist it could well be that Howie’s last show
on WRKO will be tomorrow and he could debut on WTKK
FM 96.9 as soon as Thu. morning
—What about the affiliates? They’re probably wondering what’s going on, too. My guess is that if Howie moves,
the show will continue for a short while with substitute
hosts though the words “Howie Carr” won’t be mentioned.
Stations would then one by one pull out of the show
(as WCRN already has). Hopefully Greater Media, WTKK’s
owner, will find a way to syndicate the show.
Hope they have better streaming audio than RKO.
So did Howie really neglect to nail down the
enforceability of his non-compete agreement
long before before heading for the door?
These sorts of terms are common in the media
and entertainment industries, and by now it
should be well known how they’ll stand up in
court.
Talking about free college tuition for illegals. AARGH!!
