(1) Assault weapons are already banned. What the dorky PC Chiefs’ outfit is asking for is most likely an “ugly weapons ban”.

(2) Gun bans are unnecessary. All that is needed is to pass a law banning criminal behavior.

(Makes sense to any idiot, psychotic or Liberal)

Actually not. The term "Assault Weapon" just means whatever gun the politicians want to ban. Sometimes they are "too big", or shoot "too fast" or "load too easily" or are just "too ugly". The definition of "assault weapon" varies from state to state and ban bill to ban bill.

Assault rifles on the other hand, have a DoD definition: "“short, compact, select-fire weapons that fire a cartridge intermediate in power between submachine gun and rifle cartridges". They are machine guns (IE. select fire) which have been tightly controlled (Unconstitutionally of course) since 1934. Assault rifles, and other machine guns, produced after 1986, have been (unconstitutionally) banned for civilian purchase since that year.

The Assault Weapons Ban, the old expired one, or the new one trying to get out committee in Congress, has nothing to do with Assault Rifles.
