LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Auto and construction job cuts pushed Michigan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate up to 7.4 percent in August, 0.2 points higher than July's rate, the state announced Wednesday.
Michigan's unemployment continued to lead the national rate, which held steady last month at 4.6 percent.

and that hits the nail squarely on the head. People are totally unwilling to leave 'home' to get a job. Home IMHO is where your job is.
Boy is socialism working there. Not
Tell me something I don’t know. My little one gave me my older daughter’s work number. I finally caught up with her. Thanks to Uncle Sham hiking the minimum wage, her hours have been cut down, and she’s looking for a second job. Well hey, someone’s got to keep her worthless bf in mousse and tattoo ink :/
Does anyone know where Reed City is? I googled, but I’m not familiar with the area. At least this winter they have a working heater. In a trailer....
Normally, I would request that Freepers posting state news append the state to the headline, like so: “State Jobless Rate Highest Since 1993 [MI].” But somehow I knew what state this would be about.
Hold up your left hand, if you have one, with your palm facing away. Make sure the fingers are tight together and your thumb is sticking out from the hand at about an 160 degree angle. Note that it is a close approximation of the lower penninsula of Michigan. Reed City is inland from the little finger side of the penninsula about halfway between the end of your wrist and the tip of the mitt and about the first joint of your ring finger. Reed City is close to the Paris Fish Hatchery.
“Say big boy, you didn’t happen to bring any cigars with you did you?”
I read somewhere recently that something like one out of every six or seven unemployed Americans lives in Michigan, and that the national unemployment rate would be 0.1 or 0.2 points lower if Michigan were taken out of the mix.
Don’t worry, She’s going to fix everything by raising the income tax from 3.9 to 4.6%, adding sales tax to services, and who know what else. Hey Jenny, get a clue, you don’t make this state attractive to anyone by taxing the hell out of the survivors of your failed policies. I moved to TX in 1992 and came back in 1995. I think it’s time to move again. By the way, I’m a highly skilled, highly paid engineer. Why would Jenny want me to stay here?
I think that your number for Mao may be a little low!

Twenty-something MILLION Hispanics did just that.
Hold up your left hand, palm outward. Reed city is just above the knuckle of your index finger. :-)
keep electing democrats and you will be at 10% unemployment
How much of the unemployment rate can be directly or indirectly attributed to the UAW and other union entities? I suspect a large percentage.
Don’t blame “Uncle Sham” for your daughter’s financial woes - if she wasn’t supporting a deadbeat boyfriend, she might could afford a bit better living conditions...
Keep voting Democrat. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
