Organized protests against the appearance of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the U.N. began even before he arrived in New York City.
A group of about 40 elected officials and civic leaders gathered Sunday outside Columbia University, where Ahmadinejad is scheduled to speak on Monday.
Some carried placards with slogans such as "Don't give a platform to hate," and "Go to hell," while denouncing Ahmadinejad as a "Hitler wannabe" and a Holocaust denier.
Said New York state Assemblyman Dov Hikind: "There is no excuse to invite this madman, this little Hitler. "This is immoral. This is outrageous. This is sick. Do we have to invite him into our community? ... There is absolutely no justification."
Added city Councilman David Weprin: "This invitation is a slap in the face to all New Yorkers and especially to those families who lost loved ones on Sept. 11 right here in New York City."
Among the protests scheduled:

I heard on the radio on the way in this morning that he plans to go to the World Trade Center site anyway. How is that weasel not confined to quarters?
This is a pure evil death cult focused on world domination and the left wing socialists either support it, are too stupid to understand or BOTH.
And girls.
I hope there are enough voices to shout down this Jew-hating, woman-hating, civilization-hating, terrorist-supporting, Islamofascist bastard child of swine.
Go to Hell, Ahma-nutjob.
Who issued his visa?
Apparently there is a law that allows UN diplomats to travel protected in a radius of several miles (someone posted about it here a few days ago).
Then he should be trailed by goombas and beggers every step of the way.
If I were a New Yorker, I’d be unhappy about all the security for this bum and the resultant traffic jams and major disruptions in our lives. I know when some famous person comes here, the whole city shuts down. It’s a royal pain the keister, not to mention how the local economy suffers as people can’t get to work or can’t shop.
I thought all this time that Bush was Hitler?
I'm so confused - did they move the goal post again??
One of the things I thought about from the beginning announcement of GZ.
Why was the press all set up wayyyy ahead of time?
I know he requested the GZ trip three weeks ago, why was that held back?
Why did Bloomberg (dumb question), think we were stupid and lie to say his Col. speech was cancelled?
There are radicals all through Columbia btw.
If I didn’t know better...
What the heck, in true form, the evil twin Hugo will have his honeys back on Wednesday here.
He is a “Hitler wannabe” and a Holocaust denier, and that is bad enough, but he is much much worse. He has American blood on his hands. How many of our young men and women won’t be coming home from Iraq alive because of him?
No, cowards like him convice the imbiciles and fanatics among them to take such steps, but he’s not as stupid as that.
“I would not be surprised if he is here as a suicide bomber”
oh please ..wusses like him if you havent noticed are big on prodding suicide bombers and the glory of it...but never them.
It’s comforting to know there are people who protest this man and what he stands for.
Remember the commando raid on our soldiers where they were abducted and executed by commandos wearing US uniforms? - that was Iran. All of the arms, included the armor piercing shaped charges, EFP which are deadlier than the run of the mill IEDs, yeah they’re sent by Iranians to kill our soldiers, the 50 top of the line Austrian sniper rifles being smuggled in that we were fortunate enough to catch - Iran, the safe haven and training Iran supplies to the Mahdi Army, etc., etc., etc. Iran is killing our boys and girls and this guy is allowed a New York publicity tour and invited to an American College so “open minded” types can hear “his side of the story?”
This is shameful BullS**t
If I were the NYPD and FDNY I would surround the site and claim there is a gas leak and no one is to come within 1,000 feet of the site.
“Its comforting to know there are people who protest this man and what he stands for.”
You can bet the protestors will include many Iranian Americans who can’t stand to see what had happen to their country since the fall of the Shaw.
Which means that
,if we actually allow him to come near the WTC footprint,
Then we are betraying our Armed Forces that fighting for Liberty & Peace even more than CodePink, Cindy Sheehan, Madea Benjamin, Rep. Kucinich, Sen. Kennedy, etc.
According to the UN rules, visas allow visiting Diplomats to travel within a 25 mile radius of the UN property.
However, US law enforcement agencies do not have to provide security for them.
They should drive him to a demolition site in the South Bronx, tell him it’s the Twin Towers then leave him there.
Nothing could be of less interest to the faculty and administration of Columbia University (unless they could use them to hurt the Republican Party). Most of the students there would probably burn the flags on their caskets.
This holds true for most American universities I fear.

[Then he should be trailed by goombas and beggers every step of the way.]
They should arrange an “unfortunate” security lapse “MISHAP”, ala Janet Jackson.
Re: Ahmadinejad Ground Zero Visit Still On?
AFP confirms:
Ahmadinejad appeared surprised by the storm over the wreath-laying, telling CBS television: “Why should it be insulting?” He said he would not insist on visiting the site if city officials could not arrange it.
But foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini insisted a visit to Ground Zero was still on the itinerary.
“The visit to the site of the twin towers to pay tribute to the victims is part of president Ahmadinejad’s program even if some people are trying to have it cancelled,” he said.

Can we have an ongoing thread for this day where all info on it can be gathered & followed?

"Could [9/11] be planned and executed without coordination with intelligence and security services - or their extensive infiltration? Of course this is just an educated guess. Why have the various aspects of the attacks been kept secret? Why are we not told who botched their responsibilities? And, why aren't those responsible and the guilty parties identified and put on trial?"
Update: 11:45am Eastern blogging from CU
Update 11:46am Eastern. Allah passes word via PJM that Ground Zero was cleared of anti-Mahmoud protesters this morning.
Meantime, were stationed at Columbia at the front gates on 116th and Broadway. I just interviewed CU undergrad Jacob Kriegel, president of the student Jewish organization LionPAC. Theres a sizable crowd gathering. Many Persian students raising their voices in opposition to Ahmadinejads presence. Well have video.
Here are a few pics of the scene on Broadway, which is lined with media:
>>>>>I heard on the radio on the way in this morning that he plans to go to the World Trade Center site anyway. How is that weasel not confined to quarters?
There are enough folks here a GZ and that wont happen. I may need bailed out but its the price of freedom.
See post 38. What bother’s me is did they clear the protestor’s to make room for the evil one?
I’m surprised that some think we are bound to follow “UN rules” even if letting an enemy whom we are at war with have free reign to not only visit our country but take a sightseeing & propaganda tour while they are here.
If we choose to follow a UN rule so be it. But I question the constitutionality of us being bound by any rule or law of a foreign country or group of foreign country. I’m sure these rules are part of a treaty we signed. But treaties are broken all the time. And if the national security of one’s own country is involved I can see no better reason for breaking it. The president could have stopped this and did not.
Also, did he bring his own driver and limo? Is he sleeping on a sofa in the UN? Don’t forget that some hotel offered him lodging, some restaurant is allowing him to eat there and some American is driving a limo with him in it. I can only assume that those Americans offering him food, lodging and transportation have the option to refuse to do so and have not.
I’m hard to miss...I think I’m the only disabled scooter down here with a laptop mounted on it. Right now I am at corner of West and Liberty. Undercover cops must number in hundreds.
You’re my new hero.
Kudos to the protesters with the “Go to Hell” signs!!!
These wannabe hippies at Columbia should get a spanking by their parents.
Ward Churchill would be proud....
“Churchill wrote titled “Some People Push Back: On the Justice of Roosting Chickens,” written shortly after the Sept. 11 attacks. In it, he describes the thousands of American victims who died in the World Trade Center inferno as “little Eichmanns” (a reference to notorious Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann) who were perpetuating America’s “mighty engine of profit.” They were destroyed, he added, thanks to the “gallant sacrifices” of “combat teams” that successfully targeted the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon.”

Interesting how the far left is on the side of the Islamofascists.
Been trying to find out what’s going on. Did you see any motorcade with the monster?
Thanks for the link Cal! Seems he has yet to step out
