Apparently you're seeing things which aren't there (if you're only basing what you saw on the video of the attack).

The attack on the boy--based only on the video--is no more, and no less, racist than the Rodney King beating by police. You aren't going to consider that beating racist, are you?

You see a light skinned boy being beat up by dark skinned boys, and then from what you see, it is racially motivated?

But if you see a dark skinned man being beat up by light skinned men, then what you see is not racially motivated?

Rodney King's beating was not racist.

This boy's beating might be racist, but there is too little information.
It is not at all apparent or obvious that this was a racist attack.

Oh good grief.

The city of LA differs in opinion with you. They found the Rodney King beating trial itself to be racist when they officers were found to be “not guilty”. And then there were a whole of lot reactionary assaults on non-black people (including a hispanic man who was beaten and had his genitals spray painted black while cameras rolled).

The belief of a significant number of Californians is that if Rodney King hadn’t been black, he wouldn’t have been so severely beaten.

I think that you tend to misunderstand something when these discussions come up. There is a definite double standard on how crimes involving people of different races are handled. If you are white and engage in crimes against people of other nationalities then in liberal world the default assumption was that race was the trigger and not some other cause. If you are black and commit crimes against someone who is white then there is a real tendency to look at the situation as something involving factors other than race.

Most of the posts here tend to drip with sarcasm because the accepted norm is that whites are the racists. They are the ones who commit “hate crimes” and other groups simply are not viewed in the same manner. Far too often the liberal media jump the shark when it comes to looking at situations and injecting race into their slants and inflaming tensions beyond belief. However, the black community is filled with hypocrites who will cry racism for crimes (proven, alleged or perceived), protest, organize boycotts and whatever else they can come up with but are no where to be found when the roles are reversed.

Crime is crime and each should be treated equally in my book. If you beat up without some provication (self defense) then the reasons don’t matter do they?

“The attack on the boy—based only on the video—is no more, and no less, racist than the Rodney King beating by police. You aren’t going to consider that beating racist, are you?”

From wikipedia: “The incident raised a public outcry among those who believed it was a racially motivated and gratuitous attack.” “...in the black community of South Central Los Angeles) the acquittal in a state court of the four defendants, charged with using excessive force, provided the spark that led to the 1992 Los Angeles riots.”

Clearly many blacks considered it to be a racist beating.

I had doubts about this whole incident especially when the mother of the kid getting mugged did not want the attackers charged ... plus the fact that there just happened to be a video camera running.

I posted this on another thread about the Jena6 because I did not know this thread existed yet.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1901341/posts?page=25#25

The kid who took the video was interviewed by Hannity last night. Turns out the whole thing was a planned fight between the white kid and one of the black kids and was done to be posted on UTube and MySpace ... the black kid called in his buddies and the whole thing turned out like an unprovoked attack ...

No wonder the mother did not want to press charges and seemed uncaring about what had happened to her kid. The kid set it up ... but got a surprise!
