Little Emily was home with a strep throat, and robbers came in, thinking nobody was home, and were surprised by the little girl. She was shot several times, and her grandfather found her body when he came to check on her at l:30 pm. The family is devastated, she was their baby and a really sweet child.
Wow, this happened in the Raleigh/Durham area, where the white people are abusing blacks left and right. Oh, the Duke case didn’t turn out like the told us it would, did it?
What at terrible story. A twelve year-old alone murdered by three thugs. No punishment too severe for them.
And of course nothing will come of this. They will plea for a life in jail sentence. Three meals a day, health care, and a rump buddy for life.

Never leave a child home alone, never did when I had children that age. The pain the parent(s) feel must be immeasurable.
I emailed the article and her picture to both of them asking for Justice for Emily, and I also asked when they would be marching in Vass, NC.

Each of these punks deserve the death penalty!
Times are different, with 2 working parents, it depends on how ill the child is. A responsible 12 year old with medicine for a strep throat could be left at home with the knowledge that a grandparent will be checking in on her. We don't know why she couldn't be left at the grandparent's home that day, but there's quite possibly a reason.
But this was a nightmare from hell, the terrified child facing robbers and being shot repeatedly. Her family is agonized, and who would want to be the grandfather that walked in and found her body? The ones to blame are the ones that broke in the house and killed her. She'd be doing well right now if it weren't for those murderous thugs.
I am just so glad it wasn't a "hate" crime....

If she’d been trained in the use of a firearm and provided with one, she would probably be alive right now.

I see them doing some serious hard time at a Juvenile facility until they’re 21...unless they can run a sub-4.5 second 40. Then, they’ll just be “young children who made a mistake” and sign with Miami or Florida State.
Times may be different and all that, but I say screw that, the child should come first and not be left alone. I’m not blaming the parents instead of the teenage thugs, I just would never leave a 12 year old home alone, not old enough in my book. No matter her age the same thing would have happened of course, but a parent/grandparent there may have made all the difference.

I stayed home all summer long with just my 14-year-old sister when I was 12. There’s not much of an option when both your parents have to work and your nearest relative is a state away. Back then, home invasions were unheard of. But, I’m not sure anything could be different if I was 12 in 2007 instead of 1985.
My daughter moved to the woods in PA as she calls it. We insisted they get a home alarm system. In this day and age no where is safe any more, pitiful and scarey moreso, but true.
I’m also anti-working mothers I guess having not been one myself, part of the decay of society I think, that and when they dropped the dress codes in school. My mother was home when I came home from school, before the surge of working mothers started.
Yes, I’ve noticed in the police blotter in my paper, they seem to pick and choose when to title a criminal act done by a teenager or an adult when they are always of age.

They didn't just enter that home to rob it. They entered that home to do anything they pleased. They voluntarily went far beyond robbing here friend. Intentionally or not, these guys made the front page. They should be offered to briefly say a prayer before being executed.

Well admittedly I was and still am a Nervous Nelly of a mom, and I don’t want to blame the poor parents, but I wouldn’t have left my child alone at home in a secluded area. However, if both parents worked and there was no one(friend, relative etc.) to stay with her, maybe it seemed to them that there was no choice. Poor family.
My heart goes out to her parents. There is no way society can repay this no matter what happens to the “perps”.
I suppose the “reverend” jackson (and his usual adoring chorus of simpletons) will be leading a mass march in her hometown demanding “justice” in this race bias case. I also suppose CNN will headline the next seven days with news about the racial (black thugs on a white child violence) aspects of this case — don’t bet five cents on either.
Buy guns, buy ammo, but be sure that you know all about safe handling of the weapons.

My house is a little secluded, but there is a deer target with thousands of arrow holes in it. It is not foolproof, but it may be the reason my house has not been hit for 23 years.
I was very proactive against the criminal who did break into my house. My information put him behind bars. He turned into a tattler and got off on reduced charges. He had about 30 burglaries and got off on reduced charges.
If you want justice, do not look to the legal system.

I was babysitting at 12. I think it depends on the child. Besides, grandpa was obviously close enough to check on her. This is horrific. I would be shocked to find out that these thugs did not have many run-in with the law in the past. I am sure there are many people who ran interference for them and their families throughout the years, they are to blame, not the family.
Not one of us here know that Mom was not a “Nervous Nelly”. If we want to speculate about the poor decision her parents made, maybe just maybe, the little girl was very mature and pleaded with her mother that she would be fine, and since Grandpa was close it would be no big deal.
The thugs killed her for no other reason than being sociopathic criminals. Three thugs whose mama’s and grandma’s are going to be saying what wonderful boys they were except for the fact they came from poverty.

I saw an update on THAT beating , on the local news (I live in Norfolk). It seems that the fight was supposed to be between the white boy and ONE black boy, and another boy was taping it for YouTube. If course, you don’t fight ONE of them, you fight them all (even back in the 60’s and 70’s when I grew up).
As a society, we reap what we sow.
