Colmes: Right Shouldn't Complain About 'Conservative' Ahmadinejad's Speech
NewsBusters.org ^

Posted on 09/25/2007 12:05:25 PM PDT by RatherBiased.com

According to Alan Colmes, since evil dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not a liberal, but instead a "conservative," then conservatives in America should not be offended because the Iranian leader received better treatment on a college campus than some of America's conservative political figures, some of whom have been met with attacks with pies or other violence.

Such was the absurd argument suggested by the liberal FNC host during a discussion on Monday's "Hannity and Colmes." Colmes commented to conservative guest/author David Horowitz: "Ahmadinejad's not a liberal. He's a conservative. He's very right wing. He was welcome at Columbia University. You shouldn't be complaining. Phil Donohue, Hillary Clinton, they've been all booed off stages. You don't talk about that." (Transcript follows)

That's a howler. Comparing conservatives to Islamofascists. Alan Colmes is usually one of the more decent liberals but now he's really gone over into moonbat territory.

Lefties use this absurd argument a lot -

the ayatollahs and islamists are conservatives...

Idiots - conservative AMERICANS are Americans.
liberal residents of America are overwhelmingly ANTI-American, and DO side with those with similar viewpoints.

I hope Hannity gets a VERY large salary for putting up with the stupidity of Colmes.
He is more than “just the other view”. He is beyond stupid.

“Colmes is brain dead. replace him with a real lib , like Bob Bechel”

Alan Colmes may be a commie retard who looks like Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars, but he’s never been caught paying a hooker with a check.

Ala-ding-dong is no conservative. His desire for control is only matched by Hillary Clinton’ desire for control. Didn’t Allen recognize himself in M.A.’s speech? Isn’t disposing of practicing Christians and Jews the Liberal way?

If we want to really command respect in this world , we will direct a flight of F-18’s to intercept and shoot down Ahmadinejad’s plane in mid Atlantic , claiming full responsibility and announcing that THIS will be the fate of ALL those that sponsor and support terrorism in the world.”

Damn!

Can I write your name in in my state’s GOP primary?

I’ve also noticed that lately Alan has become much more strident in his rantings, but even more in his questions to guests. He’s usually much more polite. I wonder what’s up at H&C?

They were talking about this on CNN (Anderson Gloria Vanderbelt Cooper and Christina Ammanpour Arafat). They claimed that Ahmadimejad’s putting down gays was done to satisfy the hardliners.

Yet,Ahmadimejad is not Head-of-State, only Head-of-Government and that the Supreme Leader in HoS. Ahmadimejad would not have been allowed to run unless he was approved by the Supreme leader.

He is not a conservative in the American sense of the word. If he were a conservative, American conservatives would like him and his policies. They don’t and for good reason. He is not a conservative as we use the word. Combs is using silly vague word definition games that don’t apply.

Islamic socialist.

From Wikipedia,

Ahmadinejad submitted his first annual budget, covering April 2006–March 2007, to Iran’s parliament on January 15, 2006. The draft budget called for 1,956 trillion Rials (US$217.4 billion) in total spending, 27% more than in the fiscal 2005–06 budget.

The plan called on state-owned banks to allocate a larger portion of their resources to consumer loans for low-income families and small enterprises in underdeveloped regions. It also called for a visible increase in housing subsidies for low-income families, accounting for roughly US$1 billion in construction costs for those who are worse off.

In June 2006, 50 Iranian economists wrote a letter to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, criticizing price interventions to stabilize prices of goods, cement, and government services, as well as a decree issued by the High Labor Council and the Ministry of Labor proposing an increase of workers' salaries by 40%. Ahmadinejad publicly responded harshly to the letter and denounced the accusations.

On January 25, 2007, The president called high petrol consumption as the main problem facing national economy.

“So far, this year (started March 21, 2006) the Oil Ministry has spent billions of dollars for importing petrol”, he noted. The government is trying to control the high petrol consumption, but it has no plan to sell the petrol at the market price, he stated. He also refused a gradual increase of petrol prices, saying after making necessary preparations such as a development of public transportation system the government will free up petrol prices after five years.

Ahmadinejad established a new budget planning body directly under his control, a move that gave him a freer hand to implement populist policies blamed for driving up prices.

Iwannajihad doesn't support gay marriage, so he must be a "conservative". Liberal logic hard at work.

Colmse’s hyperventilated fanatical outbursts take the cake in his presentations.
His habit of eating up his alloted time with lengthy dialogs where he forwards questions and answers but leaves little for the guest are unique, insulting, and only made possible due to the tolerance this spouter is afforded by Fox.

Colmes would like the Burkeian sense of preservation of inherited worth by careful reform done away with and to substitute the definition of reactionary for conservative. Then he can say any reactionary dictator, person or historical movement, including National Socialism in Germany is "conservative" and smile to himself how cleaverly he abuses the language.
