On its 12th day of deliberations, the jury considering a murder charge against producer Phil Spector announced for a second time that it was unable to reach a verdict in the case. The judge declared a mistrial in the case. Update soon.

A jury full of celebrity-stupified idiots no doubt.
Bump
I don’t watch tv. Who is this guy, and what did he do? Can someone lead me to some info about him?
Time for a Phil Spector Greatest Hits album.
In the early 60's he was one of the best record producers around and was connected to some of the greatest rock/pop music of the pre-British Invasion era.
He's been on trial for murder.
Wrote and produced several songs back in the 60s, including You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling, Be My Baby, Soul and Inspiration, etc.
Prediction: They’ll drop the case.
The problem is the prosecution didn’t include manslaughter in the charge.
They were both, more likely than not, drunk and high and really weird playing sex games with a weapon.
Stupid, reckless, etc., but not “intentional.”

When you’re filthy rich like he is, you can look any way you want!!

You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’ - The Righteous Brothers
A good example of Phil Spector’s ‘Wall of Sound’ recording technique. He would pack the studio with players...2 drummers - 2 bass players - multiple sound stacking.
Just goes to show, again, that if you’re going to murder somebody, do it in California.
I am a major fan of Lou Reed. Still, while I wouldn’t call Mistrial the worst album ever, I gotta admit it is really bad.
As for Spector. I predict the case will be dropped.
He’s a rebel, and he’ll never be any good!
Actually it did not have to be intentional to be second degree murder. A definition of second degree murder is depraved indifference to human life. There is no doubt in my mind that Spector placed that gun in Clarkson’s mouth. I would imagine that the hammer was back, as he’d pulled similar stunts with at least five other women, all of whom testified to that fact in the trial. He had to know that his actions could very well have resulted in her death and he did it nonetheless. Did he intend to pull the trigger? Only two people know, one is dead by his hand and the other is not talking. Regardless, his reckless, depraved actions resulted in the violent death of another person, which meets the criteria for second degree murder. I guess they could have included the lesser charge of manslaughter, and in retrospect, probably should have, but his actions met the criteria for the charge that was brought against him. It’s just a shame that five members of the jury were to stupid or uneducated to see past the celebrity and look at the facts of the case.
His own son actually commented on the stand that he was surprised this did not happen earlier, given his pre-disposition to this kind of behavior. The defense objected, but you cannot un-ring the bell. It was already out there.
Regardless, LA is not capable of empaneling an intelligent jury. They have shown that time and time again with OJ, Robert Blake and Michael Jackson. Celebrities in that f’d uo town can pretty much do any damn thing they want without fear of facing the consequences. It is beyond a disgrace. Had Alan Jackson put on that trial in my hometown, I have no doubt whatsoever that the jury would have been back in an hour with a guilty plea. Spector would have been toast. I am sure that would have been the case in most towns across the country.
this guy is a celebrity? I’ve seen photos of this dude and if that’s celebrity...it disgusts me even more than the people on the mag covers, TV and movies. Yuk!
...another rich, powerful, white elitist lib is getting away with it.
Don’t worry, Hillary will fix this when she takes office....
BINGO! We have a winner.
Realizing it had overreached far too late, they tried to do an end-run and get the judge to allow them to tack on the lesser charge after the jury already thought it was deadlocked.
He oughta get 5 years for that bad hairdo alone....geez!
He looks like the Evil Emperor in Star Wars---having a bad hair day.
The prosecution did not want the judge to include manslaughter as a pssible verdict. The prosecutor had a good case. I think the defense must have gotten to a juror.
