RJ's NFL Picks - Week Four
BlogCritics.org ^ | September 26th, 2007 | RJ Elliott

Chicago (1-2) at Detroit (2-1) *Ford Field* - 1:00 PM (Sheridan's line: Chicago by 3)

The Bears were spanked at home by Dallas on SNF last week. Their offense was anemic, but that's expected with Rex Grossman at QB. What was surprising, however, was that their defense couldn't stop either the run or the pass. Detroit was utterly destroyed by Philadelphia last week, 56-21. The Lions defense was embarrassing to watch, as Eagles receivers were left wide open and RB Brian Westbrook seemed to break at least five tackles every time he had the ball. QB Jon Kitna put up great numbers in a losing cause. I believe the Lions can score on anybody this season with their high-powered passing attack, so they should be able to put some points on the board in this one (even if rookie WR Calvin Johnson cannot play due to a bruised lower back). Grossman has been benched in favor of Brian Griese, which should give the Bears offense a boost. This one could go either way.

RJ's Pick: Lions by 2

Baltimore (2-1) at Cleveland (1-2) *Cleveland Browns Stadium* - 1:00 PM (Sheridan's line: Baltimore by 4½)

Baltimore is has been very mediocre so far this season. They've lost to the 1-2 Bengals, and they've barely beaten the 1-2 Jets and the 1-2 Cardinals. Meanwhile, since a pathetic performance in Week One, the Browns have put 51 points up in a win against the Bengals and nearly beat the Raiders on the road. I'm thinking upset in this one.

RJ's Pick: Browns by 1

I can’t believe the line on that game is Pats by 7.

Cincy will be facing a real Defense this week and the Tom Bradymoss is facing a defense that arguably is worse than Buffalo.

That line should move to -21 by game time. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Packers over Vikings-Should be close because of the defenses, but the Pack has the offensive edge.

Raiders over the Dolphins-Miami is absolutely horrid, Saban knew when to bail and Cameron hasn't a clue.

Jets over Bills-Jets are decent, Bills are too beat up.

Texans over Falcons-too much turmoil in Falconland and not enough talent.

Lions over Bears-Bears don't have enough on O even with the QB switch and their defense is beat up also.

Ravens over Browns-defense rules the day for Baltimore.

Cowboys over Rams-Rams have a beat up QB and their primary weapon Jackson is out this week. Could be one of the uglier games this week.

Bucs over my Panthers-Delhomme is out more than likely and the defense isn't living up to their press clippings. Williams should have a good day carrying the rock for the Bucs.

Seahawks over 49ers-9ers are improving, but not yet ready to challenge.

Chargers over Chiefs-the Chiefs offense could use a few iron pills if you catch my meaning. Their defense isn't much to write home about either. LT should bust out this week.

Steelers over Cards-old home week for Whisenhunt and Grimm makes them wish they hadn't left the Steel City.

Colts over Broncos-Shanny's boys are lucky they aren't starring at an 0-4 start.

Eagles over Giants-Eli has picked up his game this year, too bad the rest of the team has lost their's since last year.

Pats over Bengals-this one could be a track meet, Pats have too much firepower and Cincy has no defense to stop them.

Maybe the Lions will draft some defense next year....or stage a coup and get rid of the Ford family.

Well, this week the Deadskins get a break... The won’t lose. And they won’t win either, they have their season open date.

The Iggles, I hate to say, will finally stop that really, really ugly party... and get back to their normal ugly green togs in order to lay a whipping on Manning-Lite and the Giants.

The new, but not improved Cleveland Brownies... will stay down to earth losing again to the old Brownies in their Baltimore Raven guise.

Now, Allegra did not get to crow about her Texican... being unbeaten last week, but she will get to brag they will be 3-1 after they defeat the featherless, Vickless Falcons.

Now... How 'bout them Cowboys!

My ‘Boy are on a roll... but they will find a surprisingly strong 0-3 Rams team even minus Steven Jackson. It will be back and forth but the Pokes will come out 4-0 with a 24-19 victory.

Now, if any you have any problems with my picks... the line to bite my shiny metal ass begins right here!

Issac Bruce has guaranteed a victory this Sunday vs the Cowboys.

I'm guaranteeing he's been smoking crack.

Atlanta would have a decent backup quarterback filling in for Mike Vick...

...but Shaub is playing for someone else now. :-D

Breaking News... Kent Brockman reporting!

That loud, cackling sound... reported all across the globe has been finally identified. It is Allegra being snarky about last year's backup quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons.

We now return you... to your regular programming

How did I get back here... to 1955 again?

Simple, Marty. Doc Brown was incapacitated... so he asked me to take you back in the Wayback machine.

But Doc Brown... was supposed to take me to 2055!

Opps! Sorry... Mr. Peabody, I must have written down the date wrong.

Well, Sherman... I guess I'll have to roll up a newspaper and start swatting you on the nose again!

I do agree that the Rams will give the Cowboys a tough game, Bulger is the best QB the Boys have gone up against so far this year (not that it is saying much).

I am a long term die hard Patsie fan.

I am a former Patriots season ticket holder. I simply could not afford the prices to maintain my seats, and so I gave them up the year before Parcells and Bledsoe came along.

It seems to me that there is some common ground between the few of us who are normal, rational, and civil, as oppossed to those others among us here in Massachusetts who also love our Team.

I am confounded by the logic of my neighbors.

That is about the best that my neighbors who regularly vote for Kennedy, Kerry, Frank, and the other douche bags Congressional representatives can ever expect from the likes of me.

Meanwhile, my team Rules the NFL!

He’s got Seattle pulling it out at SF....good thing because the following week is our scheduled drubbing at the hands of the Steelers.
