Ron Paul supporters are raising a ruckus because WorldNetDaily columnist Melanie Morgan wrote not-nice words about Paul's presidential campaign.
Here's the Digg thread where the Ron Paul supporters are flipping out: HERE'S THE DIGG PAGE WITH THE COMMENTS FROM THE RON PAUL CROWD
And here's the excerpt from Melanie's column at WorldNetDaily. You can read her full column - HERE.
________________________________________

RON PAUL: Poor Ron Paul it's tough to be the candidate of the conspiracy crowd and maintain any shred of credibility. This week, Paul had to denounce his own supporters who mobbed Rudy Giuliani on a Michigan ferry and threatened to throw the former mayor overboard. Paul's grass-roots activists claim that Giuliani stole $200 million worth of gold from the World Trade Center as part of the supposed 9/11 conspiracy that Paul's supporters have cooked up like Jiffy Pop, in their tin-foil covered heads.
Paul was also forced to distance himself from the 9/11 "truthers" here in California we know them as "nut jobs" when confronted by the press about the 9/11 conspiracies floated by his supporters.
To date, Ron Paul has danced a fine line by allowing the 9/11 nut jobs to think he was one of them, without committing himself to their lunacy in public appearances and interviews. Now he's come out against their unsubstantiated allegations, and abandoned some of his base to the political wilderness where the mentally unbalanced trade in rumors and unsubstantiated fantasies.
Besides having to put the best face on his stalled presidential campaign (his supporters are reduced to bragging that he's moved from 1 percent to 2 percent in some new polls), Paul now also risks losing his congressional seat. He's picked up a congressional challenge from Eric Dondero, a former top-level staffer and confidante, who is incensed by Paul's irresponsible rhetoric and actions regarding the missions of our troops.
This could be a fun race to watch.

Some of the "best of" comments from the Ron Paul crowd about Melanie:
"Screw you Melanie - I guess you would support maybe Rudy - which is a known cross dresser! I am tired of people calling supporters of Ron Paul bid for President nut jobs or conspiracy theorists"
Actually, Melanie supports Fred Thompson so far, but is also fond of Duncan Hunter.
"Regarding Ms. Morgan, a pretty face is no replacement for the truth, do your own research and make informed decisions. Time is running out!"
"Who in the hell is this idiot? At this point, the terrorists have more money than the USA, we are negative 9 TRILLION in debt.
Hey, Melanie - you think taking care of your kids and grandkids is having them in perpetual war AND owned by the Chinese? What a complete lunatic idiot. The time has come to fix the USA and forget about spreading democracy at the other end of gun barrel."

Something that really hurt him here,...Something, or almost everything that hurt him everywhere were the things that came from his own mouth during public appearances. I've heard some of his supporters deny that he said the crazy things he did say in public. No one can defend his comments so they have to deny he said them.

A correction to this article, Paul’s challenger in TX17 is Chris Peden, not Dondero. Eric Dondero and several other of Paul’s staffers have gone to work for Chris.

There is a YouTube of the event which contracts her version. Second, the Paul campaign is not stalled at 2 percent but is up to 4 percent in the latest Gallup Poll (the highest ever). If the Paul haters now have to lie, it is a good sign for his prospects.

I like Melanie, but when she accuses Ron Paul of being part of “the conspiracy crowd” she is stooping to the level of Hillary Clinton. Even though I’ve been a Libertarian since 1980 and opposed the original Iraq War, I disagree with Ron Paul’s opposition to the current mission in Iraq (which I view as a necessary clean up operation) and think his rhetoric is poorly chosen. Nevertheless, Congressman Paul is taking an honest, principled stand and deserves much more respect than Melanie is giving him.

I'm getting spammed by 'leadpenny' via Freepmail. He claims he asked Jim Rob to delete his account. Instead of having the courage to 'pleasure' us with his views, he instead hides under the skirt of freemail.
This is a new tactic by those courageous anti-war types, but since he is having a bad day on my account, I can't say that it isn't an honor for me. After all, I wish to run them all off.
Come on leadpenny, spew us the same spew you have been barfing up on freemail today.
It's no difference than the most nutball moveon.org rant.

Ron Paul will have to create one new, unconstitutional department in government if elected.
The Ministry of Silly Explanations.
The sole purpose is to discuss what Ron Paul really meant by words he said or votes he made. It will be the largest government bureaucracy since the Department of Homeland Security.

When Reagan ran for governor of California, a lot of John Birchers supported him. Liberals said that made him a Bircher. Liberals always use guilt by association. Reagan answered: I know what I believe, I can't stop anyone from supporting me - but that doesn't make me support their beliefs or change my own.
Now, the neocons - "neo" meaning "new" "conservatives" - are using the old liberal tactic of guilt by association against Ron Paul. I'm not surprised, because the neocons used to be Democrats, so they're still playing by Democrat playbook. And they're still big-government liberals, which is why Ron Paul - a small government constitutionalist - scares them.

There are three Paulites who have two of my personal e-mails (and one group e-mail w/ about 100 members)that I own and they see it fit to spam on a daily basis, usually with vulgarities. At least one was easy to identify as a recently zotted Freeper because he actually posted a copy of the thread (and responding comments) where he was zotted.

I listened to him being praised and interviewed on Air America
I find out that he has support on DU
One night I see that FR is being hit by his Nazis supporters, I go to StormFront and find out that he is their candidate.
I find out that he is the chosen one of something called the truthers.
It is one thing to join a tiny number of people supporting an unusual candidate, with a past of belonging to a fringe group and being eccentric.
But when you look around and realize that kooks from all over the spectrum are supporting the same “free spirit” then you need to take a second look at things, and wonder if that eclectic 1% really represents any coherent, effective, political movement, at least one that you should be a member of.
