Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) on Thursday demanded an apology from conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, who called soldiers who oppose the Iraq war “phony.”
“This disgusting attack from Rush Limbaugh, cheerleader for the chicken-hawk wing of the far right, is an insult to American troops,” Kerry said. “Mr. Limbaugh owes an apology to everyone who has ever worn the uniform of our country, and an apology to the families of every soldier buried in Arlington National Cemetery.”
Speaking on Wednesday with a listener who said he used to be in the Army, Limbaugh described veterans who call for withdrawal of troops from Iraq as “phony soldiers.”
Limbaugh’s remark prompted criticism from anti-war groups and liberals. Media Matters, a liberal media watchdog, and Americans Against Escalation In Iraq (AAEI), a pressure group of Iraq veterans who oppose the war, lashed out at Limbaugh.
It is the latest in the rhetorical battle between supporters and opponents of the war. Conservatives harshly criticized Democrats who refused to condemn the “General Betray Us” advertisement, paid for by MoveOn.Org, which ran earlier this month in The New York Times.

Maybe Congressman Udall should check the FACTS before he starts doing the bidding of Media Matters.

I didn’t know about the “phoney soldier” until I heard about it from this smear and nonsense. From what I read about the “Cpl”, and his atrocities he “saw”, and then to find out he was in the army for 44 days and never saw combat, it just made me steamed. So what was supposed to be a smear tactic to take out Rush, just makes me hate these losers more, so great job, whackjobs.

The moonbat left Congress Critters got their marching orders from Media Matters, as did everyone on CNN, MSNBC, etc. Rush has the entire transcript and audio up on his website, where you can read and hear that he was talking about Jesse MacBeth as an example of the “PHONEY” (in the strictest sense of the word) soldiers the anti-war movement fronts. Jesse MacBeth was a LIAR. He washed out in basic but was paraded around for months by the left as a disheartened Iraq War veteran.
Since George Soros owns/runs Media Matters, if I were Rush’s lawyer, I’d get CNN, and the rest of the Drive-by media on the phone and tell them if they persist in running the Media Matters version of the story, without checking their facts, that there’s a lovely slander suit in the offing for them, and I can certainly prove malice under the Sullivan v. NY Times standard.

The funniest part is that Rush was talking about a “phoney soldier” who was washed out of boot camp, claimed to be an ex-Ranger, was adopted by the far-left as a poster boy, was exposed as a liar, and got sent to prison. Media Matters should be sued, and sued and sued some more, until Soros is finally broke. I’m thinking if Rather’s good for $70 million for damage to his reputation, Rush should be good for twice that at the very least.
