Who took the poll?
Who was polled?
What is the standard deviation?
Was this a random sampling?
Why do you waste our time with kind of one-sided garbage?

NJ likes Paul? LOL. Not an endorsement
I'd want....
And I'm not singling out NJ. I won't vote for anyone with the letters NY after his/her name, either, and I live in it :)

73% is a little low for L.Ron, isn’t it? I would have expected him to get about 241%, easy.

See post #13, it seems this was a ‘straw poll’ conducted by some group named ‘Conservatives with Attitude’ at a Hampton Inn.

I’m on the OFFICIAL NJ State Republican Site and I don’t see a straw poll. Nor was there any talk of one at the last meeting I attended.

No matter what the data shows....New Joisey always ends up a Blue State in presidential election or has since Clinton was elected.
We keep the Red States, then we’ll be fine in November 2008. As for Ron Paul, sure sure.

If anything, NJ will give you Rudy, not Ron Paul.
And NJ is so over the top angry about the Toll Road Monetization, they may not even give you Rudy when they find out Bracewell & Giuliani’s client is Cintra, the toll road purchaser.

The Garden State Straw Poll
Posted by Max Raskin at September 27, 2007 05:07 PM
From Ron Paul New Jersey
What: NJ STRAW POLL
When: Saturday, September 29, 10:30 AM
Event fee: USD18.00 per person
Where:
Hampton Inn
370 Route 9 North
Woodbridge, New Jersey
07095
There will be a New Jersey Ron Paul Rally This Saturday, Ron Paul supporter contingents are converging from all over the state. We will be having a RALLY outside in the Parking lot of the straw poll.
Anyone ever see that movie Braveheart? We need the Highlanders to come down to this event in the Hundreds and Thousands. Make sure you dont miss this, its a one time chance!
WE NEED EVERYBODY TO COME TO THIS ONE TO MAKE NEW JERSEYS VOICE HEARD. PLEASE RSVP. There is a possibility the Media will be there and we need every single Ron Paul supporter in the state for this one.
Although this is not an official GOP straw poll lets take this opportunity to Turn Lemons into Lemonade by having all Ron Paul New Jersey supporters in one place this weekend giving us a chance to network. Our goal should be to make the Rally in the parking lot wayyyy bigger than the event inside. Apply whatever techniques play to your strengths, lets blanket the area and do what we do best.
Saturday, September 29th @ 10:30am at the Hampton Inn on Rt. 9 in
Woodbridge.
Be sure to bring your Families, Cameras, Signs, Banners, Bullhorns and anything to make this a unique Jersey event. If anyone has official campaign signs, bring them!
If you are interested in putting up signs check this event (night before the Straw Poll):
http://ronpaul.meetup.com/492/calendar/6237848/
Check with your local meetup for details, currently these groups are participating, any group not on this list make sure to schedule the event on your meetup page. Organizers lets network offline to work out event details:
Middlesex
Cherry Hill
Somerset
Ocean
Warren
Time to start a Ron Paul Revolution, New Jersey Style!

So much for straw polls.
Huh? They're just party fundraisers, generally for county or state parties. For fun, they take a straw poll and fax it everywhere.
Straw polls tell you who the most motivated activists are supporting but not a whole lot more. The average voter won't spend money on a local fundraiser for the party just to eat rubber chicken, listen to the same old speeches and vote in a straw poll.
There was an interesting report I read from the event itself:
"On a side note, Rudy's speaker (Bill Spadea, who is a great speaker, by the way), in an attempt to sell his candidate, brought up the fact that Rudy had people in NYC arrested for jaywalking.... and then defended the policy! Interestingly enough, Mr. Spadea admitted that he admires Ron Paul and that his own father will probably be voting for the Dr. Paul."
But still, Spadea's dad voting for Ron Paul is just interesting and fun at this point. But I have read repeatedly that there are some very very aggressive RP supporters in NJ & NY. In NY, their Meetup has opened its own office. I think they want to try to beat Rudy in NY state, relying on upstate NY where he isn't popular and where most of the Republican voters in the state are. And I think that's pretty interesting too.

FWIW, looks like FDT seems to be pretty popular in this Upstate neck of the woods.
For being unrepresented, at least from what we can tell, Fred did well. After all, they turned the parking lot into a statewide RP rally so of course he was going to do well.
Yet, Fred managed to get 12% and Giuliani seems to be in negative numbers despite having a good spokesman on the spot which almost always helps.
One of the best ways to stop Rudi is to show he's weak in NY or NJ.

Possible, but Rush has a much broader base of support than Paul, and I doubt contributions were limited to $2300. How much did Rush kick in, for example? I’d be curious to see how other candidates have done in the past; excluding corporate contributions. Paul’s money is ALL coming from individuals. Maybe this is no big deal...I don’t have anything to compare it to...
