Thank you! (Ron Paul Collects More Then $1,000,000 in 7 Days of Fund Raising)
Ron Paul 2008.com ^ | September 30, 2007 | Kent Snyder Chairman

Posted on 10/01/2007 5:34:02 AM PDT by Hydroshock

September 30, 2007

Dr. Paul was campaigning in New Hampshire with his wife Carol and their family when our $1,000,000 goal was reached last night. As the time drew near, they watched on a laptop as the counter reached the $1 million mark. They, along with staff, supporters and volunteers throughout the country then celebrated this extraordinary accomplishment.

Over $1,000,000 raised in seven days for the Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign. Remarkable!

On behalf of Dr. Paul and every member of the campaign staff: Thank you!!

Kent Snyder Chairman Ron Paul 2008

Looks like the million all came from individual, small donations, too. The campaign is reporting that it came from a little over 14,000 individual donations which breaks down to less than $100.00 per donation on average. No special interest or PAC there, just folks who support their particular candidate. I’ll be interested to see how the other candidate’s donations break down once the FEC’s 3rd quarter reports come out.

Yep, a million bucks. And if he'd give it all to me I might think about voting for him.

That’s a good amount, but it’s only 4 million a month, if they could sustain it, which it doesn’t sound like they can if it was an all-out blitz.

Still, Thompson’s 8 mil sounds big until you realise that’s just over $600,000 a week over the 3-month period (13 weeks).

So congratulations to Ron Paul. If we are lucky, he’s getting money from the left-wing anti-war crowd trying to mess with our race, so it’s a million not availalbe to the democrats.

Now if he’d use the money to actually ATTACK the democrats on the many things he disagrees with them about, instead of attacking republicans on the one or two things he disagrees with US about, we might get something good out of having so many candidates.

Say what you will about 2004, the democrats were smart, they had 9 people and every one drew money from a different group, almost all took matching primary funds, and they used the money to attack Bush.

I see “no war,” “bush lied” and “troops home now” signs, bumper stickes and grafitti all over the place around here too. I’m sure a few of those folks will masquerade as Republicans long enough to put up a Paul sign, too. A few will even believe in small government and the right to bear arms, but most would gag on the idea and vote for Hillary in the general anyway. But they are certain to hold their noses on those issues and put up Paul signs in the meantime.

I saw a Ron Paul sign in PW County, Virginia, at the corner of Rixlew and 234 business.

It’s the first presidential sign I’ve seen.

Someone stuck something to the back of it, it might have been these stickers people are putting on signs in our area when the signs are put in public right-of-way which violates the law.

Too many in this collection of folks are blinded over the “military” because Ron Paul wants to declare a war legally and respects our military enough to want to make sure these brave men and women are not just used as setting ducks to be killed, then to pull out like Viet Nam.

If you all could see past the spin of the day, you would see that we should go by the constitution. We are about out of freedom in this country.

BTW, all that million came from 14000 individuals at a little less than 100 per donation. Make fun if you like, but the little people are speaking, against the big media, etc. They drown us out and puts in the big government types that take our freedoms and monies.

And for those that live in the Texas 114th Congressional District, there is a sane alternative to being represented by Ron Paul. Chris Peden is mounting a primary challenge to Paul. Check it out at: http://www.chrispeden.org/

Peden is a true conservative that led the charge to roll back Friendswood property taxes as Mayor Pro Tem.

He voted to limit eminent domain in Friendswood.

He supports the Global War on Terror

Chris Peden on the WOT:

The courageous and patriotic men and women of the United States Military are leading the Global War on Terrorism, reducing the threat of terrorism and making the world more secure.

The men and women of the United States military honor us each day with their service and sacrifice. They deserve our respect, our prayers and deepest gratitude. If I am elected as your member of Congress, I pledge my commitment to secure the resources that our service men and women need to fulfill their mission as they safeguard our liberties.

I will stand with the right of the state of Israel to defend itself against terrorist aggression by Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations. Despite repeated calls for the destruction of Israel by terrorist factions, I believe Israel, as a nation, has the right to exist.

Though we can be thankful that an attack on America’s soil hasn’t happened since 9/11, we cannot consider it merely good fortune. Our valiant men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan are on the frontlines in the war on terror, but the horrific attack on 9/11 demonstrated that terrorists can bring the battlefield to our shores. For this reason, we must remain continually vigilant and ready with a broad based strategy that includes military action when necessary but also enhanced overseas intelligence capabilities, strengthened coalitions with willing partners and more effective and efficient homeland security.

We must continue to support our brave troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and everywhere duty calls. We must fight Islamo-fascists abroad rather than fight them at home. As your congressman, I will be dedicated to giving our military the resources they need to fight - and win - the battle against the enemies who wish to destroy America and our way of life.

This great nation faced and met global threats to our peace and security in the past and we will do so again by remaining strong and dedicated to the preservation of liberty.

Why can’t you respect other points of view? I read the comments that some of the people make against Ron Paul supporters. It sounds like Democrat tactics. Attack the person and not the ideas. I realize that we have a war of words, and some of us are not as sharp-tongued as others, but we should try to see the truth and be honest with issures.

Explain to me why Congress does not declare war? As far as I know WWII was the last declared war. We have to go to the UN and tiptoe around all the political correct positions. Meanwhile, we have lots of good people killed and wounded. I want us to WIN and so does Ron Paul, but there was a right way to do it, and we have not done it.

“Explain to me why Congress does not declare war?”

Because the situation in the GWOT is more similar to that during the Quasi-War with France and Caribbean activities against piracy in the 1820s than it is to the conflicts with Britain (War of 1812), Mexico (Mexican-American War), and either World War.

Going to the precident of the Quasi-War, Congress authorized American armed forces to seize French ships in the West Indies and Caribbean in retaliation for French siezures of American merchant shipping. It was not a declaration of war against France, merely the authorization of the use of force against limited French interests.

The anti-piracy campaing of the 1820s is most similar to the situation faced in the GWOT — extranational armed bands, some with the tacit support of national governments, others intimidating governments into accepting the use of their territory as bases attacking American interests both overseas and in American waters. Rather than declare war on all and sundry Congress authorized the use of force against pirates and their enablers.

The major difference between that and the GWOT is that the US Navy didn’t just lock up captured pirates at Gitmo. They found useful employment for those they caught — stretching rope.
