The Group Behind Smear Campaigns Against Limbaugh and O’Reilly
News Busters ^ | September 30, 2007 | Noel Sheppard

Posted on 10/01/2007 6:20:20 AM PDT by libstripper

Last week, two of the leading conservatives in the media, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly, were dishonestly and unprofessionally attacked by press outlets that cherry-picked out of context remarks from lengthy radio broadcasts in order to vilify outspoken personalities whose opinions they don’t agree with.

Unfortunately, as folks around the country saw this play out on their television sets and newspapers, few were at all familiar with the organization behind the smear campaigns, or that this same group started the firestorm which ended with radio host Don Imus being terminated by NBC and CBS in April.

Maybe more importantly, even fewer citizens are aware that this organization is linked directly to Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as billionaire leftist George Soros.

For some background, John Perazzo wrote a column for FrontPage Magazine in July entitled “Media Matters: Hillary’s Lap Dogs,” that should be must-reading for all citizens interested in who's targeting America’s leading conservative personalities (emphasis added throughout):

Brock, an admitted homo, finds life freer and easier down in Hot Bottom’s old cellar digs.

Yes, good to report on these. But what group is behind O’Reilly’s smear of Free Republic?

You are far too sensitive. I watched O'Reilly's discussion on Free Republic, and his criticism on FR was a drop in the bucket compared to his criticism of the far left websites.

Considering the following that they both have, the liberals just had to do something even if it was wrong. Didn’t we all expect it?

I’m glad Media Matters way overstepped its bounds, and the MSM followed it right off the cliff called ‘credibility heights’....(chuckle)

He was a closet homosexual, actually, and got outed.

He’s been trying to get back at the Right ever since.

Funny thing about the YouTube version of that ABC special report about phonies....

The viewers' comments keep disappearing....like someone doesn't want a comparison to be made between the uses of the word "phony" by Rush and ABC.

I had read one comment which pointed out that the anti-Rush folks haven't made vitriolic comments on the page with the ABC video, whereas the rabid anti-Rushites have made hundreds of comments on the other YouTube pages which mention Rush's use of the word "phony."

The comments about the ABC video keep disappearing. I wonder when the video itself will disappear.

I’m surprised that video is still up. I think I can get a buddy download it from work for safekeeping.

Here is the FR thread for the other FReepers. ABC Reported on ‘Phony Heroes' Three Days Before Rush Limbaugh Did (This is really hysterical)

That thread was posted on 09/30/2007 8:56:28 PM EDT by SandRat

SandRat is a REAL hero, who does a wonderful job of finding, and informing us of, some of the most eyeopening news.

Since Media Matters is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization that's blatantly involved in the Clinton campaign, we should all be writing our Representatives and Senators, urging them to have the IRS investigate MM.

Like these idiots would do something about it.

I don’t know how to post pictures here but doesn’t Soros look like he’s separated at birth from Simon Barsinister of Underdog fame?

It’s not how “hard” he was on FR, it’s that he flat out lied about what he found here. He did the same to the Swift Boaters. So now he knows how it feels.

I think you are overreacting a bit to the comment you responded to.

It had nothing to do with "sensitivity."

The next night on O'Reilly's show he had a chance to realize his mistake and recant his lies and he chose to reinforce them instead during the email spot at the end of the program.

His apology to FR will clear it all up.

Read This is you wish.

But yes, I do agree the vicious smear tactics of Soros, Media Matters and the Media in general get a lot more play.

But for a "conservative watchdog" such as O'Reilly to attack FR...an ally in the fight against the left...has been quite damaging to the cause.

But for a "conservative watchdog" such as O'Reilly

O'Reilly is not a conservative watchdog and has never claimed to be one. He is independent and states his position often. He leans more right, but that does not make him conservative. He will call people on the carpet as he sees it, regardless of ideology. I don't always agree with him, but more often than not, he speaks for my way of thinking.

He moved “left” because the right wouldn’t buy his unsubstantiated smears of people, even if it fit our agenda.

He found that the left is willing to believe anything that advances their cause, so his lies are welcomed there.
