Riyadh (dpa) - Two Saudi men were to receive 7,000 lashes each for committing ``homosexual acts,'' Saudi Okaz newspaper reported Thursday.
Saudi authorities started executing the court order Tuesday, which had been divided into separate phases, the report added.
Another Saudi man, meanwhile, was to receive 470 lashes separately for doing drugs and resisting the security forces.
The Saudi judiciary system is based on the strict principles of Islamic sharia law.
Well, it looks like they DO have gays in Saudi Arabia.

Actually, these days the Saudis usually divide the beatings into enough ‘phases’ that the victims survive. Sometimes the miscalculate and manage to turn a flogging into capital punishment, but usually not.
I think I’d prefer the traditional punishment for adultery. Being buried up to my chest and having passers by throw rocks at me would probably finish me off quicker than getting whipped 3,500 times.
And here we are, debating whether or not strapping a homicidal animal to a gurney, inflicting the agony of an IV needle and then putting the convicted murderer peacefully to sleep is “cruel and unusual”.

It seems that treatment of homosexuals is the only possible criterion for leftist angst re: the Moslems and their Jihad. Perhaps the Administration should turn this war (in the publicity) into a war against mistreatment of queer people and do lots of publicity and probaganda to that effect. Maybe that would mute the opposition from the left a tad.

If these guys were permitted a lawyer, and they probably weren’t, he should have advised them to offer to the court a list of “individuals” who are also sodomites.
Now typically, you would think that they should name leaders in the country. But this is not the case. They should name the opponents of the leaders. Don’t pick on the powerful, give the powerful ammunition to pick on those who want to wrest power away from the powerful.
In this case, the homosexuals should have named a group of Wahabbi clerics who have threatened to overthrow the Saud family in the past.
This would give the court long pause, hoping to pick up some brownie points with the Sauds, but apprehensive about making enemies of the Wahabbis.
In either case, it turns the attention of the court away from the defendants.

As it pertains to homosexuality, just WHY? a woman and man are like to perfect jigsaw pieces. Now of course, bad/corrupt genetics can lead you the other way. Sorta like my friend who has 6 toes on one foot, not 5.
Debating this since high school i have a few points here (none can be scientifically proven so be careful with the flames) but, take this for example:
EVERY GAY COUPLE, TRULY IN LOVE: WOMAN AND WOMAN, MAN AND MAN. Are given their own island, an utopia. Food, water, whatever they want. Everything imaginable to sustain life.
So let them live happily, their soulmates by their side.
Will it not take one generation for them to die? They can not reproduce, it’s that simple. Put all science aside, artifical insemination and cloning goats don’t count with this basic fact. They cannot produce offspring.
I am not homophobic, i really don’t care what other ppl do in their bedrooms cuz its probably a lot more kinkier than mine, but why make it my business? IE A gay parade, .. i don’t really like having blocks of downtown cordoned off for men in leather and women with haircuts that would make the military blush.
All i’m saying here, (if i can put it in a few words) :) is that they are born with something WRONG. One of the main purposes of life is to replicate, enjoy the beauty of your children.

when some gay couples legitimate kid has an argument then i’ll listen otherwise, it’s in the wind. it’s pretty damn obvious that homosexuality is a defect, but if yer gonna do it do it, just don’t get caught is the only thing i have ot say for these homoburgers.
