Dear (xxxx),

I normally ignore Rush Limbaugh, but his comments last Wednesday went too far for me to remain silent. It's one thing to call me "Dingy Harry" - it's another to insult our men and women in uniform, calling those who oppose the war "phony soldiers" as Rush did during his Sept. 26 broadcast.

Of course, Rush continued his tirade Monday by denying he had said anything wrong and attacking John Murtha, who served 37 years in the Marines.

This week, 41 Democrats signed a letter to Clear Channel CEO Mark Mays, demanding that Rush apologize.

You can send your own letter to Mays by clicking here.

In December 2006, a poll run by the Military Times found that only 35 percent of service members approved of President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq. Would Rush consider every other Soldier, Sailor, Airman and Marine to be phony? What about General John Batiste who retired from active duty in order to speak out against this war?

Rush has the courage to sit behind a microphone and lash out at those who oppose George Bush's misadventure in Iraq - yet when it was his time to serve, he received a deferment and has never worn a uniform.

Limbaugh's show is broadcast on Armed Forces Radio, and therefore service members around the world heard his insults. It's time for Clear Channel to make Rush apologize.

Demand that Clear Channel CEO Mark Mays take action by clicking here.

Rush certainly has the right to say whatever he wants - but we have an obligation to speak out when he goes too far.

Thank you,

Harry Reid

I used their form and commented how the libs hate the truth and Rush speaks the truth. Said Rush has my support 100% and to keep up the pressure on the libs and ended it with NO APOLOGY because he has nothing to apologize for.

I caught that too. He was howling.

And then he immediately refuted Harry’s claim about Rush slandering the men and women who DID serve in uniform.

Yep. It's heard in Iraq. So far, I have yet to run into any member of our Armed Forces who is insulted by Rush's characterization.

Looks like you're just whining at the wind again, Harry.

While widely reported, the Military Times poll has a number of caveats along with partial disclosure of how the poll was taken; it is worth a read.

The average joe is hardly ever questioned on matters like these and we should remember that our troops can’t take heart from constant carping.

Most soldiers want the most help they can get and likely hate entertaining the thought they may be abandoned in the heat of politics and luke warm public support.

Hey reid....you don’t NORMALLY avoid Rush Limbaugh. Who in theee hell do you think your kidding? You probably listen to him every single day or you have your staff listen to him. Rush knows where its at, knows who all of you “phonies” are and knows the truth and more importantly tells the truth which is less than we can say for you. So, don’t say yhou dont’ normally avoid Rush...you listen to him so YOU can find out how lousey you are. You will leave your office and be remembered as the wimp while Rush will always and forever be remembered as a man of honor.

The difference between McCarthy and Reid is that McCarthy was right.

It’s one thing to call me “Dingy Harry” -

Does “Phoney Senator” come to anyone else’s mind? There are several names that could follow that title.

Is it possible to ratings to go negative?

What a jerk you are, Harry.

Soldiers oppose the politically correct crap imposed upon them in fighting this war, which is instigated by you and your kind, not President Bush. (Although, I wish Bush had to cojones to just tell you guys to get bent.)

So, don't give us that 35% crap and try to make it look like our soldiers are against this war itself, because they most emphatically ARE NOT.

YOU insulted the troops when you said that the war was lost. Have you apologized, Harry?

You suck, Harry.

Do you remember when Dan Quayle gave a speech criticizing “Murphy Brown” and the all the libs complained about government “intimidation?”

If that was intimidation, what do they call this????

Dear Harry,

I was listening to Rush to hear his side of the story. I listened in shock as he actually invited you to come on his show and say this to his face. And he has done this for last several days!

I was sure you would settle this once and for all and I have been waiting for your appearance on his show.

Please make us all proud and stand up to Rush in person. He has called you out, rise to the challenge.

Surely you were listening to Rush when he used the term "phony soldier" and you are not just relying on others like the New York Times (think Jason Blair), The Washington Post (think Janet Cooke) or CBS (think Dan Rather) to tell you what they think he said and what you should do about it.

You surely can't be that irresposible.

Can you?

Or in the battle of wits are you just another "phony soldier?"

Interesting that he put it in writing outside the confines of his Congressional protection. Does this not open him to lawsuit?

I believe that this latest antic of the left wingers will get even more of a backlash for the Republicans than the moveon.org ad calling our general a betrayer.

Besides, since when is the United States Senate in the business of chastising talk radio hosts?

Oh, wait. I think I just answered my own question. The answer rests with Hillary starting up the likes of organizations like Media Matters.

They’re never going to get any work done if all they want to do is bicker like a bunch of three year olds.
