Ultimately, of course, some Republicans would have to face the question of whether to vote for Giuliani or help elect a Democrat.

What a biased comment!

Why not say, "Ultimately, of course, some Republicans would have to face the question of whether to vote NOMINATE for Giuliani or AND help elect a Democrat."

The main question for the 2008 elections is whether or not the American people want to elect a socialist who will install a socialist government and implement socialist policies.

Proof there won’t be any third party candidate — Perot was a fluke and Bloomberg found no support. Bloomberg was Hillary Matters “Perot”, got to get the winning vote under 50% so a Democrat could win.

A survey conducted earlier this month found that 72% of Republicans think Giuliani is at least Somewhat Likely to win the White House if nominated. However, the current survey finds that number falling to 58% if Christian conservatives back a third-party option.

I will not vote for Rudy whether there's a third party or not.

It's so close that he doesn't need to lose 14% of the vote to lose to Hillary. He needs to lose only about 2-3%. And he will lose that.

While I have respect for the statistical aspect of Rasmussen I have to keep a clear eye to the marketing aspect of Rasmussen in designing a poll for an instance the isn't yet upon us because the media wants to buy the future envisioned.

In order to get the socialist elected, the media will plumb the possibilities of fear and conflict to bring about whatever scenario damages the opposition the most. This means damage to any opposition. They want Fred declared dead, with characterization of asleep and detanched. They want Mitt shown as a waffling poligamist, they want Rudy in drag to scare Pubbie base outside New York, they want the McCain to channel Nixon and the others to be invisible.

Rasmussen is trying to sell product and so he devises a one time poll and if the media buys it and re-commissions it for payment and tweaking they will run it until it is one of the many stumbling blocks being thrown in the path of all who oppose Chairman Hillary.

On this site of long standing where debate should be reasoned and spirited together, we can watch the media's manipulation play out as we fight with each other in accordance with their plan.

Rudy supporters are idiots. Instead of facing the reality that Rudy can’t win, that people with principles will NOT vote for him, they continue to insist we all vote for the Rino SOB. The Rudy supporters are the ones splitting the party. We need Thompson as our nominee, NOT RUDY. Thompson has everything Rudy doesn’t, including honesty. Anyone who can still support Rudy after his silence on the Rush smear is just blind to the facts. Rudy is NOT a conservative, he is anti-conservative and not a viable candidate for President. Dump him and support a candidate that can win.

1. Hillary does not need Pro-life forces so they are expendible to her.

2. Guiliani Can’t win without pro-life voters UNLESS he replaces them with pro-abortion voters which is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

3. A pro-life based candidate pushed by religious conservatives simply can not win. They do not have the numbers. They MIGHT be able to raise the money but that money will eventually end up in the coffers of the respective charitable groups after the election.

the political reality is we have four top tier viable candidates. Guiliani, Romney, Thompson and bringing up the tail McCain.

McCain is just about done and will be out.

Guiliani is not going to be electable period on any number of formulas.

That leaves us with Romney and Thompson.

With months to the first primary.

This is ridiculous. Giuliani could promise to appoint J. Michael Luttig to the Supreme Court and it STILL wouldn’t be enough. Prepare yourself for President Hillary.

IF Rudy wins the primary and the social conservatives bolt, they'll be forever independent of the GOP and their influence will be limited to the 12% of the electorate they can muster on their own. Nobody will ever take them in again.

Will it defeat Rudy in the general? Probably. It would probably ENSURE Hillary is the next president.

It will also ensure that the other 70+% of the party never forgets, and will start them down the path of forming a new majority...more easily done without social conservatives than with them.

A thought for all you Rudy-phobes on this thread: the 'Rat party has been taken over by Stalinists. This means that if you sit this election out or vote 3rd party, she will win.

And don't fool yourselves about 'winning back Congress in 2010' or 'winning back the White House in 2012'. It ain't gonna happen: Stalin-in-a-pants-suit will rig the system to prevent it. Here's how:

1. Impose the Fairness Doctrine by executive order to shut down talk radio (silence the opposition)
2. Expand entitlements to create a majority dependent on government services (guaranteed 'Rat voting bloc)
3. Ram through an illegal alien amnesty that will make GWB's failed 'comprehensive' bill seem conservative (another guaranteed 'Rat voting bloc)

That's just for starters. And God forbid we'd get hit with a terrorist attack on her watch: the first thing she'll do is take away guns from law-abiding citizens. Then she'll make Muslims a protected class and prosecute anyone who says anything negative about them under hate-crimes laws.

After 8 years of her reign, we will no longer recognize the United States of America.

Think Rudy will be bad? Consider the alternative. I rest my case.

So it says. I will tell you something, take that poll again with Hillary staring you in the face. Do you really want to cut your nose off to spite your face, just to "give them a lesson", and have Hillary as President, and just maybe, filabuster proof majorities in both houses of congress?

Personally, I am backing the candidate who has the best chance to beat the democrats. Right now that is Fred Thompson. However, whoever gets the GOP nomination will get my vote, because the alternative is irrevelentcy. Your views won't matter! The democrats will simply steamroll over what we believe and when they are done, we will live in socialist europe.

So all you ideologues out there better be sure; the world with Giuliani as President would be a conservative utopia compared to the alternative...

Mike

I seriously doubt christian right to lifers can get a 4th party candidate por-life single issue candidate on the ballot in 50 states.

I say 4th party because its far more likely you see someone like Bloomberg buy their way in to 3rd party ticket as an independent sucking up the oxygen.

It's not just the Christian vote. Some of these are also the gun folk.

Enough said. Rudith is a sure loser.

A vote for Rudith is a vote for Hitlery. It's that simple.

Pollsters trying to stir up and create news so they can get their name in the papers, on the media. The MSM does not really like Rasmussen. How else can he make news?

Sorry if this has been asked, but who might this third-party candidate be? Any ideas. Otherwise, it’s kind of silly to speculate on all this. It’s unlikely a conservative Republican is going to leave the party just to make a point in the election, assuring a Hillary victory. Of course, Rudy will probably choose a pro-life running mate.
