Origins of Syphilis [It was waiting for Columbus and his crew~~~NEW WORLD]
Archaeology.org ^ | January/February 1997 | Mark Rose

snip...

Syphilis, it seems, developed in the New World from yaws, perhaps 1,600 years ago, and was waiting for Columbus and his crew. The Rothschilds are now examining skeletal collections from the Bahamas to look for evidence of syphilis nearer to Columbus' landfall.

This is extremely upsetting to the looney libs. They want to blame the evil white man or western civilization.

Liberals have desperately searched in vain for evidence of syphilis in Europe before Columbus so as to disprove its American Indian origin.

Conclusive research shows however that syphilis is a New World mutation of yaws, existing among American aboriginals for many centuries before Columbus. An American Indian disease wiped out a third of Europe, to the great embarrassment of liberals.

Does any one know what Dennis Miller means when he says “touch Indians “?

I’ve read other articles over the years on this question. The description of Syphillis in the 1500-1600’s were particularly gruesome, the explanation was that the strains that killed their hosts too quickly died out after a few centuries tearing through the Old World.

I’ve also read that Malaria is an Old World import and did not exist in the Americas prior to the Age of Discovery.

The first cases of syphilis in Europe were in th port of Genoa, IIRC, but not until AFTER the discovery of the New World.

I never understood how the lefties got it so backwards. But the fact that they did speaks volumes as to their intellectual dishonesty.

Yes, but the libs would like to blame US...the whites for all the evils that’s taken place throughout the world. Especially diseases we gave to the natives, killing many.

Yes, it does. Proving once again how much they HATE their own race of people who've help to create a better world.

“Does any one know what Dennis Miller means when he says “touch Indians “?”

______________________________________________________________

Could Dennis have been referring to the Plains Indian practice of “counting coup” (touching a foe without killing him) in combat? Ken Russell’s “The War” documentary brought this up where a returning Lakota WWII vet, after giving an account of his exploits to his tribal elders was informed that he had accomplished the four feats necessary to qualify as a War Chief (among other things, he punched a German soldier who got away and he sneaked across enemy lines to steal some of their draft horses).

Sixty-odd years later, he still chuckles over that.

Umm...Syphilis never remotely "wiped out a third of Europe."

I think you're confusing the Plague and Syphilis.

You'll drive yourself insane if you view everything through politics. The debate over the origin of Syphilis was simply a scientific debate; there are a lot of them, and people thought they had legitimate evidence it may have been in Europe prior to Columbus. It wasn't some vast left-wing conspiracy.

Not true...Europe had finally begun to recover from the Black Death of the bubonic plague in the middle 1300’s, which had killed fully half of all Europeans. Once again, Europe was ravaged by a plague now known as morbus gallicus, the French Disease. It would kill one third of the entire population of Europe.

Why do you want us to believe that Liberals are human beings rather than space aliens sent by a malevolent entity to inflict harm on us.

You are right...since the loons believe we went into Iraq for the Stargates...it does make one realize...that kind of thinking isn’t of this world...it’s just way too nutty. Only aliens could believe such a stupid thing.

William McNeil (or MacNeil) made the yaws/syphillis connection and an argument for a New World origin 30 odd years ago in “Plagues and Peoples, the Influence of Disease on History”.

Thanks for the article... I have perhaps heard the last of Europeans genocide on Indians for a while without a backup disclaimer.

A third of Europe had to be more than all of the New World population total.

It was also funny that the Indian man had no idea he was actually doing all those feats at the time he was doing them. It was like circumstances just fell into place. His grandfather was one of the greatest war chiefs of all time; don’t remember his name but they showed a photograph of him.
