DEFINITION: Swiftboating; Speaking TRUTH in the face of Democrat Propoganda
The Idiots at Kos have a huge thread running on the exposure of the "SCHIP" family by Free Republic members, that Rush mentioned today, and it's utterly HILARIOUS!
They are freaking out that we would DARE to question thier "Facts"... "UPDATE #2 Whiskeyfire has a very informative blog on this too (hat tip nyseer courtesy of Atrios)
As the day goes on, bigger and bigger smear merchants are picking this up (including The Weekly Standard).
All are (of course) listing Free Republic as the mother source. This limits any culpability and fact checking of their own.
UPDATE #3 Michelle Malkin has this story up on her site, but she's done the extra step of going to Halsey Frost's business and quizzing his tenant on his political ideology. She also drove by the Frost home... ostensibly to see how much it was worth.
There are many points being brought up, amongst them whether it's right to bring children and anecdotes to a political debate.
I don't think that this is the issue. The issue is that the right wing, led by The Free Republic and picked up by Mark Steyn and Michelle Malkin are attacking the people that come out against their propaganda.
The Frosts aren't running for office; they are trying to live their lives after a horrible accident left their children with permanent disabilities.
Knowing the types of people that are involved in this Swift Boating, it's even more terrifying to know that this families personal records and address are going the rounds courtesy of Free Republic. If anything else happens to this family, I hope God will have mercy on their souls.
And then, we have the "lousy Freeper Troll"...
"the family likely did not purchase much auto insurance if they didn't purchase health insurance. They may have had minimum liability coverage which won't cover a week of ICU and a handful of surgeries. PIP insurance is usually a small amount - is 'no-fault' an unlimited coverage?"
How dare he insert things like FACTS into the discussion???
Just some insanity for you to peruse...
"These redstaters are advocating killing in order to save money. It is a conscious choice.
This illustrates why national health insurance with single payer is the only way possible to have fairness to reasonable access. Let the rich have their cadilac care but the rest of us need basic sustainable and preventative care.
We also need people in the health profession that think healing is their primary purpose."
"Conservatism is all about control. That's the only pin that holds this otherwise incomprehensible worldview together. Anyone not already firmly entrenched into the American aristocracy is a serf, and as such, we are subject to the random and whimsical proclamations of our superiors at any time and for any reason."
Wanna bet this person is a Moveon.Cult/S.A. member???
"wingnut code for psychopath on the loose. Violent murderous fantasies are mother's milk to the freeps who inhabit the wingnutosphere."
Obee Kaybee....
"These guys have no scruples or compassion whatsoever!!! Let's use this as ammo to OVERRIDE!!!"
"I've never once heard of any liberal group, no matter how far flung to the fringe they are, actively pursue an opponent the way some of these right-wingers do."
Ever heard of Carl Rove?
Link?
This is the “watching them, watching us, watching them”, thread!
Phony Poor Kid!
We have to shove off and tend to a brain-damaged kitty, but if you really want links, with quips and quotes, detailing how this is “a shill ( the kid ) within a scam, within a scandal” feel free to ping me a little later after dinner. I have them handy, just need to consolidate them.
This is gonna be good! LOL!!

Huh?
Exhibit A in how Liberals are about getting things bass-ackwards.
Just go to Zillow.com. Save the gas. Geez!
I didn't realize he had that much free time. I was guessing Clinton's fault....
The left wants to hold me at the point of a gun to shake me down for even more SCHIP money and then complain that I'm the one that wants to control them? They're more cuckoo than the Bavarian clock industry.
And as for who is the serf, please read the new, revised edition of Hayek's classic book "The Superhighway to Serfdom".
So does this mean John Denver is alive, and sporting trendy facial hair?
You dare call all liberal poor kids “phony poor kids” just because they don’t support your fiscal policies?!?! Senate resolutions will follow.
Hmmm...not the first time I've seen that today. ;-)
Since in my mind Swiftboating means exposing a phony, we are.
Once again the libtards hoist up what they would assume to be an unimpeachable source for rebuttle - A 12 year old.
Yeah,, those evil mean nasty pubbies can’t talk back to an innocent 12 year old!
Right. /s
Where’s the pic of the terrorist hiding behind a baby carriage?
Every single idiot on KOS misses the point that they can find $40,000 to send kids to private school, but can’t find any money for Catastrophic Care insurance???
When did p*ss poor financial planning on thier part, become a crisis on my part???
FReepers need to tread carefully, here. Don't want this to be construed as an attack on some kid (which it's not) rather than on the Dem power structure and the parents who were stupid enough to let the kid shill for the Dems and open their family up to public scrutiny (which it is).
Here’s one that pretty interesting too.
Hillarys poisoned
poster child
http://www.jewishworldreview.com; FLORIDA IS HOME to an ill-fated child whose life was ruined upon becoming a political pawn. No, this is not another lamentation about Elian Gonzalez.
This is the tragic tale of Jennifer Bush.
Do you remember Jennifer? Probably not. First Lady Hillary Clinton, who helped turn Jennifer into a national political prop for health care reform in 1994, must be very grateful that weve all forgotten the poor little girl from Coral Springs . Jennifers story, which took a shocking but largely unnoticed twist last week, is not merely a case of legislation-by-anecdote run amok.
Its poster child abuse.
Six years ago, Jennifers mother wrote a widely-publicized letter to the White House. Do you know what it is like to choose between purchasing groceries for the week to feed your family or buying needed medications for your chronically ill child? Kathleen Bush asked.
Pale and wan, young Jennifer suffered from unidentified chronic digestive problems and myriad ailments from birth. She had her gall bladder, appendix, and fragments of her intestines removed. Those organs were replaced with a tangled cable of feeding tubes that constricted Jennifers 43-pound frame. Surgeons threaded a catheter into the girls heart. After 200 hospital visits and 40 operations, the Bush family had racked up medical bills worth more than $2 million.
Puzzled doctors and nurses scratched their heads over Jennifers 33,000-page medical file. The media ran maudlin profiles of the family. With TV crews in tow, saintly mother and sickly child headed up to Capitol Hill to campaign for Clinton-sponsored health insurance mandates.
Politicians unquestioningly embraced the Bushes and their tale of need. Hillary cuddled with seven-year-old Jennifer for the cameras; their mugs were splashed on the pages of USA Today and newspapers across the country. Shamelessly coached, Jennifer gave the Clintons a lucky silver dollar to bring you good luck so everyone can have good insurance. In another pre-programmed, kiddie-sized soundbite, Jennifer dutifully told the press: I pray every night that I can get better - and that everyone can have insurance.
Jennifers mother reveled in the relentless media attention and generous outpourings of public sympathy. Dropped by the familys health insurer, out of a job, and in allegedly dire financial straits, Mrs. Bush poignantly appealed for government relief from the burden of Jennifers mysterious illness. Its strangling us, she told one reporter.
But who was strangling whom? Several years before Hillary deified Mrs. Bush and elevated Jennifer to poster-child stardom, suspicious medical professionals had already begun questioning the mothers role in making her beautiful little angel sick. Nurses complained that Mrs. Bush was force-feeding her child with unnecessary seizure drugs that made her vomit.
Independent specialists conducted extensive tests on Jennifer and found no evidence of digestive disorders. When Jennifer was separated from her mother for treatment at a Cincinnati hospital, the starved child feasted mightily on pizza, hot dogs, and chocolate bars. Meanwhile, authorities discovered that while the Bush family claimed poverty because of Jennifers health problems, they had splurged on trips to the Bahamas and Disney World, house remodeling, and a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Dr. Eli Newberger, a professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School , concluded that nothing in Jennifers extensive records indicated that the child has any underlying illness except the suffering she has had to endure as a result of efforts to portray her as needing urgent care. Jennifer was removed from her family in 1996 and has been healthy ever since.
And now the final piece of the story that didnt make it onto the front page of USA Today or into the First Ladys talking points: Last week, Kathleen Bush Hillary Clintons once-proud and loud sister in armswas sentenced to five years in prison on two counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of fraud. She also pled guilty to a separate count of welfare fraud for misrepresenting $60,000 in assets on Medicaid forms. There was probably more abuse in this single case, lead prosecutor Bob Nichols noted, than in all of the child-abuse cases Ive prosecuted in my life combined.
Mrs. Bushs behavior is an extreme example of the Nanny State opportunism to which Hillary Clinton has dedicated her life. Its enough to make you sick.
God forbid reasonable people question and find their “poster child” not as they wish us to believe.
They better get used to the scrutiny of their propaganda.
“Swiftboat” def: “To expose the lies of the Left”.

I thought he was Mr. Driessen from "Beavis and Butthead"
Again, I ask the question: what about the driver
of the car in the accident .. and if they did/did not
have auto insurance ?
Picture shows an interesting family dynamic. It's pretty easy to tell who wears the pants in the family...husband looks like one of the kids.
There was a picture online with the family meeting Pelosi, et al. Mom was wearing a shirt that showed off a tattoo on her boob. Says a lot about a person, when they go to a public function (with press coverage no less), to meet a high ranking dignitary, and decide to flash a little skin.
Any “attack” on the parents is simply pointing out that Private schools, and home remodelings, were more important than HEALTH CARE INSURANCE, to these parents...
At what point does failure of the parents to parent become a financial burden on MY part??
For anyone to suggest that private enterprise, personal responsibility and individual choice equates to “control” is simply disconnected from reality.
I thought that only came out when Dem governors were looking to raise taxes. Along with the "Republican Body Bags For Seniors" program.
I have. MSNBC, CBS News, NBC News, ABC News, CNN, AP, Reuters, New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle,...(partial listing)
They won't ask the tough questions of people on their side. So people like Michelle Malkin do.
LOL! I thought the same thing...
The FACTS always kill liberal arguements, which is why they hate hearing them...dismiss them as propaganda and attack the messenger...honestly...who cares what the felons at KOS think.
The real issue is that the Democrats are pulling out the stops to consciously lie to the American people and the MSM is pandering to them.
It’s getting to the point of societal war...they have no desire to listen to the facts, it doesnt play to the dem agenda of social control, and we’re tired of showing them (democrats/liberals) empirical evidence of their ignorance... Sooner or later we’re all going to come to the realization that words alone are not going to solve this problem.

top right of pic: "These people live in a $400k home and choose NOT to insure their kids..Who is the idiot that gave them a microphone?"

Last time Hillary care saw the light of day...she trotted out a victim.....Kid was a victim of Munchhausen...Mom was doing it to her.
I’d be interested too. This is the first I’m reading anything about this and now what to research it!
One small correction: the Democrats weren't "stupid enough to let the kid shill for the Dems," the Democrats used the kid as a human shield for just this purpose. They knew that President Bush was going to veto the bill, and they purposefully hid behind the boy's "doctrine of infallibility" to attack anyone who dares attack the boy's message.
-PJ
b) this case illustrates beautifully the left-wing attitude: make choices to please yourself that produce bad outcomes (like having 4 kids without adequate insurance) and then demand someone else pick up the tab.
Magnificent.
Glad to see I’m not the only to think that. I spontaneously started singing “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” in my head.
You always know what a lib is going to do....It’s called projection.
They accuse their opponents of wanting to do what they are already doing.
I was only saying that it would be an easy spin for an unscrupulous Dem to turn this into a FReeper attack on the kid.
Never mind that it's the truth. We're picking on this "poor child" who's only crime is that "his parents can't afford insurance".
It just needs to be stated that we're interested in the facts of the story.....not the kid.
I'd imagine that the IRS is *very* interested in the facts of the story. I suspect that pretty soon, John Denver and company will be fairly unhappy that the Dems decided to use them as shills.
The control that conservatives espouse is self-control ... something the average lib doesn’t understand let alone practice.
Btw, your link is not good.
Thanks again for the story.
It could be much less if they are on a scholarship or grant. Say merely $20,000, or even $15,000, or even “free” if they are truly poor and can write a mean grant proposal.
As for poor planning, if they managed to get scholarships, that’s planning. Driving around on ice in an SUV with no seatbelts or catastrophic medical, is indeed poor planning.
There are other financial details, though, like who owns the business in the building he’s renting out, how much money he really makes, and so forth. One of the grandparents is apparently quite well-to-do.
They can afford an SUV, and drive with no seatbelts, and apparently had little or no medical insurance with whatever policy they had (or, just wondering, did the insurance company limit coverage because of the lack of seatbelts for the kids?)
No mater who paid, it cost a bundle to save those kids lives and get them rehabilitation, as well as access to good doctors and nurses and equipment, and I’m glad they were in the USA where that sort of thing is possible. Someone told me that there are more CAT scanners in Southern California than in all of Canada (I can’t vouch for the accuracy).
I feel sorry for the kids, especially now that the parents and the DNC put them up as unassailable spokesmen for government health care.
what’s the deal with these new people??? can anyone fill me in or send me a link??? TIA....
