Reid Continues To Press For Limbaugh Apology

WASHINGTON -- October 8, 2007: Clear Channel CEO Mark Mays last week declined to apologize for a September 26 on-air remark by Rush Limbaugh -- syndicated by CC-owned Premiere Radio networks -- so now the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has sent an e-mail, signed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, to supporters asking them to contact Mays and demand that he make Limbaugh apologize.

"It's one thing to call me 'Dingy Harry,' Reid wrote, "it's another to insult our men and women in uniform, calling those who oppose the war 'phony soldiers' as Rush did during his Sept. 26 broadcast."

The e-mail, which includes a direct link to send an e-mail to Mays, ends with, "Rush certainly has the right to say whatever he wants -- but we have an obligation to speak out when he goes too far."

On September 26, a caller to Limbaugh's show complained about the press's coverage of the Iraq war, "They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media." Limbaugh responded, "The phony soldiers," to which the caller said, "The phony soldiers. If you talk to a real soldier, they are proud to serve."

Reid complained on the Senate floor that Limbaugh had called all soldiers who oppose the war "phony soldiers" and sent a letter to Mays -- signed by 41 Democratic senators -- demanding that he condemn Limbaugh's words. Mays declined to do so, saying, "I will not condemn talent" for expressing their views.

Limbaugh has steadily maintained that he was referring only to Jesse MacBeth, who gave media interviews reporting atrocities by American troops before admitting in court that he had been discharged from the Army after six weeks and never went overseas. Limbaugh referred to MacBeth by name later in the call in which the "phony soldiers" exchange took place.

Do you suppose he's asked his Assistant Majority Leader for an apology for this comment:?

On a couple of occasions, I entered interview rooms to find a detainee chained hand and foot in a fetal position to the floor, with no chair, food or water. Most times they urinated or defecated on themselves, and had been left there for 18–24 hours or more. On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold....On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees. The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room, and had been since the day before, with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor.

If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others — that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners."

Limbaugh should be requesting an apology from Reid for deliberately misinterpreting him, and trying to score political points over it. Rush should start his show with a demand for such an apology each day, until either a) Reid shuts his trap and apologizes, or b) Rush retires.

Harry won’t spit the hook out. While facts are irrelevant to a democrat by large, (just consider Dan Rather) Harry is going to get too much of what he asked for.

Reid is stuck with this lie. He told it, it was proved untrue and now he desperately wants to make it true by using all his Senatorial power to command that it be true.. Shows you a lot about how he really thinks doesn’t it?

"It's one thing to call me 'Dingy Harry,' Reid wrote . . .

Actually, Harry, being dingy is one of your more redeeming qualities. You came into the majority leadership position as a relative moderate and could have moved your party to the center and civil discourse. Instead, you've moved it even further to the left, made the discouse less civil and the country more polarized. Your own congress has a lower approval rating than the president.

I called Senator Ken Salazar, D-CO last week after hearing Rush say that Salazar wanted to censure him. He wasn’t the author but supports the idea, as does Sen. Harkin. Funny how no one knows who the author is. Nor were they ready to censure Harkin when he padded his military resume.

How big a moron is Dingy Harry? Can he read? Does he have a two digit IQ? Why would anyone with a brain ask someone to apologize for something they clearly did not do? Is this just getting someone to cry "Uncle?" Or is it just intimidation and extortion?

I continue to be amazed at the consistency of the disordered minds. It reminds me of the character at the end of the Saddam regime who kept coming on tv and saying that Saddam was winning the war? Amazing.
