(CBS) It's hard to picture, but Bruce Springsteen turned 58 last month. His breakout hit, "Born to Run," is 32 years old. While rock stars his age are content to tour with their greatest hits, Springsteen launched, last week, what may become his most controversial work as a songwriter.
Even now, Springsteen is an artist in progress, having moved from stories about girls and cars to populist ballads that echo the dust bowl days of Woody Guthrie. Springsteen has put all that together now in his first tour with the E Street Band in four years. As correspondent Scott Pelley reports, he has returned to full-throated rock and roll, and a message that's sharper than ever, damning the war in Iraq, and questioning whether America has lost its way at home.

Barf!
Shaking my head. Bruce can kiss my NJ arse. If he wanted to write inspiring songs that will make a difference then why are so many of his songs so d@mn depressing?
Rumor has it that he's been screwing around behind the new wife's back too.
A very very rich 911 widow who lives in Rumson, is the specifics of the rumor. His tamborine wife will take home the motherload of divorce settlements, but Bruce will just print more, in that regular old working guy way.
And he bought his daughter a $800,000 horse (she just took up riding) to smooth things over with her. You know, like the guy who works down at the mill.
There is no greater barrier to “revolution” than a strong middle class.
All leftist agendas are focused on removing that barrier — morally, culturally, and especially economically.

dustbowl?
i bet if u looked between brucie’s ears you’d see a dustbowl....bwhahahaah i’ve only seen the boy sing once or twice but when i did i noticed he exhibited weird facial contortions.....leading me to think he had some proctological malfunction...he didn’t seem serene back/down there...the lad appeared ....... well... UNCOMFY..i think this condition might now have spread to his cranium and is somehow presently preventing him from backing his country in a struggle for it’s very survival. But, i could be wrong about this this is just an opinion you understand, since because i aint no proctologist r nuthin’.
Never could stand him either. But, I told this one girl in high school (who loved him) he was great. Ya know... gotta give a little to get a little. Oh, the shame. ;-)
Why did he change his name to appear less Jewish? Has anyone asked him that?
He sounds like he's on the toilet pounding out something else when he "sings".
Born to run.....off his mouth like a barking moonbat. Whoah oh oh Ohhhhhhh.
I don’t know how anybody else protests these idiots. In my case, I refuse to listen to their music; I always mute or change the station.
I have taken all my CDs of these cretins and either given them away or destroyed them. I gave 5 CDs of Sheryl Crowe to my girlfriend in Saigon, Vietnam.
Just look at how Sinead O’Connor is doing without attention. I know...who??
The thing all these a’holes need and crave can be removed by a small adjustment on the part of all of us - stop paying attention and stop buying.
One girl I knew flat-out announced "I don't like introverts!" (Ie. people who think before they speak.)
I stared back and said nothing to her.
Hope that answers your questions. ~Pandora~
Springsteen turned radical lefty when he started hanging out with Sting in the early 80’s, doing publicity tours with Rolling Stone.
Ditto.
People who don’t say anything have no right to complain about what happens because they didn’t say anything, even if what they says is so stupid that you would thing they had a Phd from an ivy league university.
Perhaps I was ill-informed. Someone convincingly told me it was: “Springstein -> Springsteen”.
Let’s just wait for Wikipedia to establish the facts....
Springsteen is unpatriotic.
Just stating the obvious. On the other hand, silence (from him) would be a lovely thing.
Springsteen is an artist in regress. My memory is not what it used to be, but as best as I can remember, it has been at least 20 years since he released any good music.
