...Well, now, it turns out, the College Republicans have invited Coulter to speak on campus at USC. She’ll be speaking on October 24th as part of the so-called, "National Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week."

Already there are calls for her to be uninvited from campus–and there will surely be protests of the event...

We are not yet certain of the logistics for this event...
...but MARK YOUR CALENDARS...
...for Wednesday, October 24!

And from www.dailytrojan.com:
...Predictably, there are those who are already planning to protest her words.

"I would definitely support [a protest against Coulter]," said Gary Yeritsian, a senior majoring in history. Yeritsian is also co-director of USC Students for Justice in Palestine, but declined to comment on behalf of the organization.

"For all of the problems of his right-wing politics … Ahmadinejad has not been responsible for anything like the scale of injustice and bloodshed carried out by the United States and enthusiastically supported by such ideologues as Coulter," he added.

Planning for the protests has begun through group-wide e-mails circulated to members of SJP through its Yahoo! Groups message board. Yeritsian confirmed the messages' authenticity but said none of the authors held leadership positions in the organization.

"Can we all meet and make plans to [protest Coulter's appearance]?" writes one member, attaching a link to the USA Revolutionary Communist Party's website.

"Contact the ACLU," another writes.

Another internal group e-mail is signed by an unlikely source - Teresa Cheng, a junior majoring in political science who also serves president of the purportedly non-partisan Political Student Assembly.
"I know a lot of professors are mobilizing around this," she wrote to other group members, naming an English professor to contact.
It is "pretty crazy" that the College Republicans are sponsoring the event, she writes.
Asked to explain the disparity between her views in that group message and the non-partisan stance she took two days earlier in a Daily Trojan e-mail interview, Cheng said she has "many different capabilities" as a student at this university.

It would seem obvious that few capabilities conflict with each other so sharply. Exhibition of a personal bias against an event sponsored by organizations that Cheng's group funds calls into question the integrity of the process.

For his part, the brain behind National Islamo-Fascism Week said he welcomes opposing points of view.

"This is about making people aware of the issues, not ramming down their throats politically correct conclusions … Let's have a discussion," Horowitz said.

Still, Vincent Vigil, director of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center, predicts that many gay students would unite in rallying against Coulter...

Oh boy, I’m fairly certain I am there all day that day anyway in offices at USC helping a Professor friend out.

I sure hope it works out that I can break away to see, hear and support her.
She is a great lady.

I think USC will treat her well, especially if she can play center position in football. :-)

Bad luck, two disabled Centers (which almost never happens) and a broken finger tip I hear.

Coach made a mistake of asking a competitive athlete if they felt they could still do it with a broken bone.
Some have a fighting spirit and broken bones won’t stop them from trying to succeed, but it does cause interceptions IMO.

Coach should have made different choices IMO, but what do I know?

...Well, now, it turns out, the College Republicans have invited Coulter to speak on campus at USC. She’ll be speaking on October 24th as part of the so-called, "National Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week."
From www.terrorismawareness.org:
During the week of October 22-26, 2007, the nation will be rocked by the biggest conservative campus protest ever – Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, a wake-up call for Americans on 200 university and college campuses.

The purpose of this protest is as simple as it is crucial: to confront the two Big Lies of the political left: that George Bush created the war on terror and that Global Warming is a greater danger to Americans than the terrorist threat.

Nothing could be more politically incorrect than to point this out. But nothing could be more important for American students to hear. In the face of the greatest danger Americans have ever confronted, the academic left has mobilized to create sympathy for the enemy and to fight anyone who rallies Americans to defend themselves. According to the academic left, anyone who links Islamic radicalism to the war on terror is an "Islamophobe." According to the academic left, the Islamo-fascists hate us not because we are tolerant and free, but because we are "oppressors."

Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week is a national effort to oppose these lies and to rally American students to defend their country.

When I was at SC it was a very strange mix. The college Republicans were there in force, but the school has a radical element as well. MechA had it's own bulding and the school had a very large contingent of students from the middle east. Combined with huge numbers from the Campus Crusade for Christ, the Morman's, and Catholics it made for some interesting moments on Campus.

Gerald Ford and Edmund Muskie came to speak (at different times) when I was there. Ford was impossible to get to see and Muskie only had half the room filled when he spoke. Josh McDowell the Campus Crusade for Christ spokesman came to speak as well.

Truth was, that the student body's most well attended event was the impromptu patio concert of The Knack who sang "My Sharona". :)

That’s because she’s a big DUNCAN HUNTER fan!

Here’s the scenario, my friend. We go into the convention deadlocked between Giuliani, Romney, and Thompson. Finally on the 58th ballot, Duncan Hunter (the best candidate) gets the nomination. Amen!

I saw Gerald Ford and Josh McDowell speak when I was a student at Ohio State. I remember Gerald Ford saying that he thought the 1984 presidential election would be “very close”.

She lost a great deal of respect from me with her comments about the next President of the United States, Fred Dalton Thompson. Her rise to fame was during the Clinton impeachment hearings. I completely agreed with her and felt Clinton should have been removed from office. Thompson was not the only one who voted to keep him in office. Her comments place her in the same category as Dobson…his time has passed and so has hers. She is over the top with some of her comments and her idea of humor is to tear someone else down. I just don’t like it in anyone, especially in a woman that claims to be such a Christian. Throw her jabs at the democrats...not at fellow Republicans. It just gives ammunition to our real enemies.

Hey Ann, watch out. I was at the last USC graduation (my brother graduated from Endodontist School)and those guys are predictably anti-American. Ted Koppel was the speaker and wouldn’t you know it, Bush came up. And yes they applauded Ted’s anti-war vomit.

So, hanging homosexuals and controlling and repressing his countrymen still makes Ahma-etc. a nice guy, huh?

Gawd, there really are 2 Americas. I support the America that supports those who fight for our freedoms, such as giving this loon the right to say idiotic things like this.
