Tongues are wagging over a discreet visit paid to Geneva by Cécilia Sarkozy, wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
France’s first lady checked into the luxury Réserve Hotel, located in a 10-acre park on Lake Geneva, off the route de Lausanne, for a weekend. The Tribune de Genève reports today on her solo visit three weeks ago to the hotel on the Right Bank that advertises two-day spa specials ranging from SFr1,695 for a basic room (single occupancy) to SFr4,870 for a suite.
The Tribune says the French media are ready to report the official separation of the Sarkozys, and reporters are sniffing around Geneva to see what brought Cécilia here. She came alone, although accompanied by bodyguards. Her absences from official functions have raised comment, leading to rumors that she has a boyfriend – perhaps in Geneva. The Tribune cites an unidentified French journalist from a magazine who said pages have already been prepared for publication about an official separation.
Cécilia last visited Geneva in 2005 when there were reports about a dalliance with Richard Attias, director of the Publicis communications agency. A photo of the pair in New York later appeared in Paris Match. The editor of the magazine was subsequently fired by the publication’s owner Arnaud Lagardère, who happens to be a good friend of Sarkozy’s. Historically, the mainstream French media – “people” magazines excepted – have tended to shun the private lives of the country's politicians. But the prospect of a high-profile separation of the wife of the country’s president may be too much to ignore. On the other hand, other owners of France’s media are known to be friends with Sarkozy, so he may get an easy ride. And, of course, there may yet be a reconciliation between the couple.
Very sad indeed.
I guess the fact that there is a little eight year old boy at home doesn’t matter to this woman.
This is certainly not the first time Cecilia has run off. About two years ago, she left her husband, two teenage daughters and their then 6 year old son, to run off to NY with her American boyfriend.
Such a brilliant politician, perhaps the most brilliant in the last 50 years, but such a messy personal life.
There are a lot of images on Google search including one with her alledged paramour. Not much to look at in my opinion. Why does the press always try to chase down these types of moral issues on conservatives? Wait, I already know the answer.

It sounds like Madame Sarkozy is the consummate selfish “it’s all about me” woman. If she leaves him again, I hope he gets custody of their son.
