Anti-Jewish Attacks in US, Columnist Suggests Jews be Christians by Hana Levi Julian
(IsraelNN.com) Anti-Semitic activity in the U.S. is on the rise, with two incidents reported this week on the eastern seaboard as top political columnist declares on national television that “it would be better if we were all Christian.”
A rabbi suffered critical wounds after being severely beaten in the latest of several anti-Semitic attacks that have hit the community of Lakewood, New Jersey, home of the world-famous Lakewood Yeshiva.
Rabbi Mordechai Moskowitz, age 53, was beaten earlier this week as he was walking to a synagogue. The attacker wielded an aluminum baseball bat and inflicted critical wounds on his head and other parts of the body, but Lakewood officials have not concluded the incidentwas anti-Semitic.
Several weeks ago, attackers pelted a group of orthodox Jewish youth with eggs in a nearby community. Tension in the city has increased fears among the Jewish community. One teenage boy reported that a woman asked him to accompany her from a store to her car 100 feet away because she was afraid she would be attacked.
Anti-Semites scrawled a Nazi swastika in a Columbia University bathroom, two days after a noose was found on a black professor's door. University president Lee Bollinger said the swastika has been removed.
The Nazi symbol was accompanied by a drawing on a bathroom door of a man wearing a skullcap (kippa). Bollinger said police are investigating.
The incident occurred two weeks after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the university.
Commentator Says Perfected Jews Would be Christians
Controversial right-wing political commentator, columnist and best-selling author Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show host by saying during an appearance Monday that Jews need to be “perfected” by becoming Christians.
Coulter continued her anti-Semitic conversation with an invitation to Donny Deutsch, the host of the CNBC show, “The Big Idea,” to “come to church with me.”
Arutz-7's Yishai and Malka Fleisher discussed Coulter's anti-Semitic evangelical views this week on their Israel National Radio tallk show.
Deutsch, who is Jewish, clearly could not believe what he was hearing, and reworded his question to the outspoken columnist: We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?”
Coulter’s response: “Yeah.”
Deutsch attempted during the interview to pin down what appeared to be Coulter’s clearly anti-Semitic stance. She didn’t budge. “We just want Jews to be perfected, as they say….
His response: “Wow, you didn’t really say that, did you?”
Coulter’s answer: “Yes. That is what Christianity is. We believe in the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. [While] You [Jews] have to obey laws... “
Deutsch told the audience leading up to the commercial break, “If Ann Coulter had any brains she would not say Jews need to be perfected. I’m offended by that personally.”
Following the commercial break, Deutsch gave Coulter a opportunity to explain why she thinks the entire country – and by extension, the entire world – should abandon any faith other than Christianity.
“Don’t you see how hateful, how anti-Semitic…….. How do you not see? You’re an educated woman. How do you not see that?” he pursued.
“That isn’t hateful at all,” she responded. “For me to say that for you to become … a perfected Christian is not offensive at all.”

Why is the entire Jewish world up in arms?
Help me out here, I'm a little confused. The entire Jewish world is up in arms about what Ann Coulter said during an interview with CNBC host Donny Deutsch. But why? Ann was caught saying out loud what every Evangelical Christian has been saying behind our back (and not behind our back) for two thousand years.
What gets me isn't that Ms. Coulter thinks that all Jews need to be Christians - I could have told you that. What gets me is that the Jewish world has convinced itself that the Evangelical Christian Right doesn't really want us all to convert to Christianity. Hello? Is anyone home out there?
"Evangelical" means "missionary." That's what it means. And the Jewish world, Israel in particular, so much wants the friendship and financial support of the Christian world that they've convinced themselves that Evangelicals are not missionaries, that they don't want to convert us.
Let me give you a little Bible lesson here. Evangelical Christians who are calling themselves Zionists and who give moral and financial support to Israel do so because they believe with every fiber of their beings that the Christian Bible - what they call the Old and New Testaments - are the word of God. They believe every word of it, literally. That's why they are generally very good, moral people and that is also why they believe, in no uncertain terms, that anyone who does not believe in Jesus will go to Hell. That includes the Jews.
I have had people argue this point with me up down and sideways, but you can't get away from the fact that if a Christian believes his or her own scriptures, then they must also believe that those who don't believe in Jesus are going to Hell, because it's in there. Don't believe me? How about these verses, for a start:
John 3:17-18 - "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
John 3:36 - "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
John 5:24 - "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life."
John 6:40 - "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."
John 6:54-56 - "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him."
John 17:3 - "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
Acts 13:46 - "Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, 'It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.'"
Acts 4:12 - "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."
Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
2 Thessalonians 1:8-10 - "...dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, for our testimony to you was believed."
1 John 5:11-12 - "And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life."
And regarding the Christian understanding that they are considered "Jews" by God, we have the following verses:
Romans 2:29 - "But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God."
So I would like to say one thing to Ann Coulter: Thank you! Thank you for saying out loud what some of us have known all along, but many of us were afraid to accept. Thank you for getting the Jewish community upset about something that it should be upset about and for speaking the truth, even if it came out by accident.
Because then Ann is suggesting that you change yourself, not just your faith.
I find it offensive that a perfect America would be defined by my not living in it. Unless I were to convert, of course. I'm also offended by Ann connecting it to the Repubican Party. Ann's vision of a perfect America might be one without Jews, I presueme all non Christians, but that's not in the Republican platform. She should look elsewhere for political identification.
Ann politely invites a Jew to church on a scantily viewed cable program, even after the Jew presses her with his rude questioning, and it's given equal weight with both a physical assualt against a rabbi and swastikas found at Columbia weeks after Ahmadinejad's visit, all in the same article.

The first six paragraphs of the article describe the anti-Semitism practiced by some people. I still do not know who these perpetrators are - are they black, brown or chartruse and what was their religious affiliation? The report requires more detail or would that be considered too provocative?
She got what she wanted. The woman is an attention hog. If she hasn’t been paid attention to in a while she’ll start some silly “controversy.” I have no idea if she’s a real conservative or just someone out after the almighty dollar. Regardless she does do as much damage as help to conservatism.

I think most non-Christians are confusing this Christian belief and interpreting it to mean non Christians are not good people both within themselves and in their community. I always interpreted it to mean a Christian want their brothers and sisters to attain the highest spiritual level they can. This is why they want others to convert. True Christians believe their religion is the best for the individual. I see no reason wht a jew or a muslim could not say the same thing. If they did, I would respect their views, disagree but not be quite so paranoid!

If you are offended by Ann Coulter’s dream that everyone in America be Christian...look back in history to the Christian missionaries who brought Christianity to the American Indians, the Hawaiians, and innumerable others. Do those missionaries offend you because they wanted to convert people who already had another religion? Would you say they were as bad as slave traders, except their trade was ideas and their captures were the hearts of their converts?
If you give them a pass, what makes you different from those Indians and Polynesians? Why is it offensive to wish to share the Good News with you, but not with them? Is it because they were regarded as “little brown brothers” in their day? Or because their faith was not as good as yours?

On Donny Deutch’s television talk show earlier this week, Ann Coulter honestly answered “yes” when asked by Deutch if she believes that this country “would be better if we were all Christian.” She further stated that Christians “just want Jews to be perfected,” i.e., to accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. Deutch, a liberal Jew, accused Coulter of making “hateful” and “anti-Semitic” remarks.
Michael Savage, host of one of the most popular conservative talk radio shows, and also a Jew, likewise accused Coulter of anti-Semitism, and called her a “deranged hag” for good measure.
I must say that Savage’s comments surprised me, because he has been one of the strongest voices in recent years against the cult of “political correctness.” And what is Coulter’s crime in this case? Not that she is an anti-Semite. This is absurd. I seriously doubt that either Savage or Deutch truly believes that Coulter “hates” Jews. Rather, Coulter’s crime is that she violated one of PC’s most sacred taboos: Expressing belief in the correctness of one’s religion. The only thing worse than this in PC land is asserting the superiority of one’s race.
Well, at least when it comes to white Christians. For the rules of PC do not apply equally to all. They do not apply to Jews or blacks or women (except to the extent these groups express “conservative” points of view). The strictures and penalties of PC only apply to the majority of the American people, as well as to the Founding Fathers who established this great country, and to the many generations of overwhelmingly white Christian Americans who built this nation into the freest, richest, and most powerful country on earth, and defended our country through several bloody wars against its enemies, foreign and domestic.
The ideology of PC is anti-American to its core. Its fundamental purpose is not to ensure that “minority” Americans share more fully in the American Dream. Its goal is to tear apart this nation — its people, its culture, its history — root and branch, and replace it with a miasma of atheism, socialism, and multiculturalism. To see Michael Savage acting the part of PC police is stunning.
Moreover, for Jews of any political persuasion to take offense at Coulter’s comments strikes me as deeply ignorant and immature. Do Jews truly expect Christians to pretend that they do not believe in the teachings of their religion? Why? Because so many Jews have discarded the teachings of their own religion? (I myself am a secular Jew.) The “logic” at work here seems to be that, because so many Jews can imagine, along with John Lennon, a world in which “there’s no heaven” and “no religion too,” it is offensive and outrageous for other folks to disagree with this sanitized vision of the future. Many Christians, however, still believe in their religion, still believe it is the path to eternal salvation, and fail to appreciate what is so wonderful about the fairy tale world invoked in Lennon’s song. From a PC perspective, this makes them “insensitive” and “bigoted” and “hateful.”
I say, thank god that so many Christians in this country still believe in their religion! That is the only thing that will prevent the violent and tyrannical expansion of the Muslim world. And that is the only thing that will preserve the existence of the Jewish people.
As a Jew, I recognize, with painful humility, that the existence of my person, my people, lies at the mercy of the larger, stronger peoples in whose midst we live. To deny this fact is to deny reality. Not too long ago, the people of Nazi Germany, along with their allies and collaborators, attempted to eradicate the Jewish people once and for all. The Final Solution they called it. They nearly succeeded. But while the Germans and Poles and Dutch and French and the many others who participated in this obscene massacre were Christians, it was not their Christianity that impelled them to these acts. It was the vicious political ideology of the Nazis. This is what triggered the Holocaust.
The truth is that the Jews of Europe could not have saved themselves from Hitler’s rampage. Practically every Jew alive today owes his or her existence to the fact that Hitler was defeated by the brave and virtuous troops of the Anglo-American alliance, practically all of whom were Christians too. Could FDR and Churchill and the rest of the western leaders have done more to help the Jews, both before and during the war? Perhaps. (Forget what the Soviets could have done; their moral corruption ran almost as deep as the Nazis’.) But I refuse to play that despicable blame game. I simply am grateful for the good people of this country, who made for my grandparents and parents, and now for me, the best home on earth that Jews have ever enjoyed.
Today, the leaders of Iran — the most powerful Islamic nation, with aspirations of regional, indeed world, domination — speak openly of eliminating the state of Israel, i.e., the largest concentration of Jews outside of the United States. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has vowed repeatedly to “wipe Israel off the map.” Just this week, the former president of Iran, Hashemi Rafsanjani (often referred to as a “moderate”), commented during a sermon (yes, during a religious service) that the Nazis “saved” Europe from the evils of Zionism. In other words, the Nazis did Europe a favor by murdering six million Jews. Where was the outrage from western leftists? Where were the screams of protest from liberal Jews? What will these idiots say when the nuclear bombs start falling on Israel? Probably that Israel caused it, or could have prevented it, or even deserved it. The mere existence of the Jewish state will be deemed sufficient justification for its total destruction. My stomach is sick with the thought of how easily Muslim genocide of Jews will be excused, even by Jews themselves.
Make no mistake, New York City — i.e., “Jew York City” — will be next. Destroy Israel and New York City, and most of the world’s remaining Jews will be dead. When this day comes, a substantial part of the Muslim world will be cheering, just as they cheered the destruction of the World Trade Towers on 9/11.
But measured by the amount of heat and vitriol her comments generated, the real enemy apparently is Ann Coulter. How dare she assert the truth of her religion? True or not, I know that Christianity is far preferable to Islam. Would Donny Deutch and Michael Savage and all of the other critics who are blasting Coulter rather live in a Muslim country? One does not have to be a scholar of the world’s religions (and I am not) to know the answer to that question.
This is the real choice facing Jews in this country, and even in Israel. John Lennon’s fantasy of universal peace and love and brotherhood does not exist, and never will exist. The fate of the world’s Jews, and Christians for that matter, ultimately depends on the ability and willingness of the Christian West, especially the United States, to prevail in the steadily intensifying struggle we are witnessing across the globe between Islam and Christianity.
What Deutch and Savage and the other critics fail to understand is that only a Christian people who truly believes in the correctness, indeed superiority, of their religion will be able to win this fight. A secularized people who believes in nothing but watery principles of tolerance and democracy inevitably will succumb to the combination of violent Islamic intimidation and the “nondiscriminatory” imperatives of their own multicultural worldview. If sharia ever does come to the United States, I am quite certain that its handmaidens will be atheists and liberals, not believing Christians.
As a Jew living in this great country, I have no doubt who my enemies are, and who are my allies. And I know to which group Ann Coulter belongs.

IF you know anything about the HOLY BOOK, starting in Genesis allllllll people are 'perfected' after repentance even for a moment. NONE of us are perfect that was the purpose before Christ became that sacrificial LAMB for one and alllll time, the most prized lamb was taken to the priest for a blood sacrifice to have those sins forgiven....perfection for a moment.... at least for the majority of we in these flesh bodies.
So...as a Jew...do you believe that everyone who is not Jewish should just ignore the wisdom within your beliefs, as useless to them?
Judaism is two things: hereditary legacy, and belief system. Christianity is a belief system. For Jews to be upset about this, they are either horribly illogical...or relying on the heredity/racial portion of their legacy. If those who are upset at the idea that Christians would like them to be Christian were relying upon their belief system they would simply realize that people who truly believe something tend to believe that their beliefs are right - else they wouldn’t believe them. Are you *intending* to argue that those Jewish by religion don’t believe Judaism is the right path and right way to live ones life?

I think someone of Jewish stock could be extremely uncomfortable by Ann's comments if he were Jew In Name Only (JINO?).
Ann has always struck me as a lass with missionary zeal in her politics and her faith. I'm curious if there are Jews out and about that wouldn't encourage Christians with the urge to convert to Judaism to, well, convert. This encouraging Jew might even take the step to tell said Christian where and how to get started. Oh, well, I suppose Jews can be bigots too.

I'm Jewish, she's right there are a lot of laws, more that our faith requires for non-Jews. Is Ann correct that the basic advantage of my "perfection" would be the ability to toss those laws out the window and be given a fast track, FedEx ticket to heaven? She says later I might get there anyway, by following laws I presume, but "perfection" gets me out of those obligations and straight in. Not a First Class airline ticked, but FedEx to heaven isn't bad.

As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to, you know, live up to all the laws. What Christians believe — this is just a statement of what the New Testament is — is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament.

So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean (Jerry) Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all.

Ann Coulter is no more an anti-Semite than the current Pope. She’s not talking against Jews, of which I am one, but against Judaism. So what? If Christians didn’t believe their Christianity, they would convert to something else. Jews unlike other ethnic groups are easy targets for their haters, who remain legion, because it is a religion, a race, a political movement (Zionism), rich people, communist founders. Choose your handle. Just go to Reddit or even Digg sometimes and see the raw anti-Jew sentiments heaving up including calls for a new Holocaust. They haven’t had such a respectable public platform in 60 years. And Reddit is owned by a Jewish family, the Newhouses. Are the Newhouses anti-Semitic for providing all the wannabee concentration guards out there this platform? No more than Coulter but causing more damage.
In a political context, she's a political commentator, if you agree that the Republican party should be characterized as Republican, Christian, tolerant; and that America would be a better nation with all Christians, then there's nothing to criticize in her statements. But these are not Republican positions. She should change her affiliation to the Constitution Party if she really believes this. Which she doesn't.
As I noted on another thread, give her the opportunity in the right venue, it will be Republican, white tolerant, or Republican, anglo tolerant. It's about controversy, which sells books.
I take issue with Ann's clear statement that this would be a better country if I wasn't in it. To my knowledge that's not a tenet of most Christian denominations. Also that the charicterization Republican, Christian, tolerant. It's not the Republican Party position that they're Christian but tolerate other religions.
I do not understand why any Jew or other non-Christian should be upset with a Christian stating his/her beliefs. Jews, for example, deny the Messiahship of Christ. That is there belief, that Christ was not divine. Christians aren’t offended by that belief, they (I mean we) just disagree because our faith is different.
I am not offended by those who believe in reincarnation. I believe otherwise. Why is that so difficult for others to understand? Fact is, they DO understand, but prefer to be offended.

The OUTRAGE is about Ann's usage supposedly of a word "perfected". Now even under the LAW before Christ became that for one and alllll time sacrificial lamb, there was required a blood sacrifice for any of the whole of Jacob/Israel to bring to a priest their prized lamb for a blood sacrifice to gain forgiveness of a sin. Now in that one moment until the individual sinned again, they were PERFECTED.
Now apparently you and I know that that LAW is still in effect, and somebody down through the years has made claim to Christians, that Christ did away with the LAW, but Christ Himself NEVER made such a claim. The LAW except for the 'blood sacrifice' also called ordinance and that Christ became the Sabbath wherein Christians are to rest in Him everyday the LAW still holds.
Now you want to set Ann straight on where the majority of Christians have been mislead, then fine well and good. But THAT is NOT what is being done here. Wonder who did the translating for the Christians?????
Set up, in a sense but that goes both ways. Deutsch is a leftist. Ann has been on his show before, she knows who he is. She's an experienced interviewee who knows precisely what she's doing. Reading the transcript, sure, he was baiting her, and she was more than happy to respond. I don't think he expected this response, probably something related to immigration or gays, but he's pleased. So is Ann. They both got what they wanted.
