Nobel Prize ignores inconvenient untruths to reward Gore
scotland on sunday ^ | 14 Oct 2007 | GERALD WARNER

Posted on 10/14/2007 11:10:36 PM PDT by george76

THERE is a beautiful congruency about Al Gore receiving the Nobel Peace Prize 24 hours after a High Court judge had declared it illegal to screen his 'man-made' climate change propaganda film An Inconvenient Truth in schools, unless accompanied by contradictory information to correct its scientific falsehoods. The judge identified nine scientific errors that would mislead pupils.

It takes more than nine inconvenient untruths, however, to deflect the Nobel Peace Prize committee from its political purpose. For aficionados of irony, last week was a deeply satisfying experience. To see the humbugs of the Nobel committee embracing the charlatan Gore to endorse his falsification of reality in what has become, globally, the flagship politically correct cause was as morally illuminating as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

So-called anthropogenic climate change has nothing to do with science and everything to do with political control of mass populations. In this edifying work, the primary instrument is the lie. That is why, in deference to the Orwellian principle, the word "truth" has been conscripted to propagate one of the great untruths of our time. If you doubt for one moment that global warming is a political, rather than a scientific, phenomenon, ask yourself why a failed American presidential candidate is leading the charge...

The Nobel charade has long been one of the best comic turns on the planet. Hypocrisy was built into its origins. Albert Nobel spent the last decade of his life developing weapons technology: cannon, progressive powder and rockets. If not actually the father, he was at least the grandfather of the V1 and the great-grandfather of the ICBM.

The ethos is the same... Yet even by the standards of Nobel, this buffoon represents an imposture too far. Gore was discredited even before the diploma was awarded.

Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.”

OK. We need to do carbon footprints of lots of people—but how do you measure it? House/houses size, cars, private jets—what else should we include. And how do you offset these with hybrid cars, solar heating, wind turbines, etc.?

We need an algorithm folks. Got one out there?

"They actually gave this idiot a Nobel?!?"

They gave one to Yasser Arafat too as well as the Portuguese doctor who invented the crochet hook lobotomy.

It makes sense in a weird way I guess.

The Nobel Peace Prize has become a laughingstock, and although the snobs who award the thing still take it seriously the rest of the world simply looks away in embarrassment.

Most people today realize that the silly, vain little people who award the prize are only using the once-reputable award as a way to make their own selfish politicial statements.

My addition to the source UK blog that began this story:

Global warming is real. It also is ONLY 1/2 of ONE degree in 35 years.

And, for the last nine years of that 35 years, global warming has stopped: There has been no increase since the El Nino year of 1998. Which wasn’t even the warmest year of the century (the mid-thirties were hotter than the late 1990’s), nor the warmest year since 1000 AD, nor the warmest years since the last 100,000 year cycle.

1/2 of ONE degree is ALL global warming can show. Nor are “scientists” uniformly supporting the AGW propaganda: even before the latest hype began (to fund Enron-sourced carbon caps and carbon trading by Gore and his Washington/European politicians) more than 20,000 scientists and engineers signed a letter urging that Kyoto be rejected.

Fortunately, the Senate voted 95-0 to reject it. Perhaps one of the last rational things that body did.

Ice melting? No: Both Greenland and Antarctica are gaining ice mass and seeing a net rise in ice levels in the interior. But that doesn’t make nice “hate Bush” TV propaganda.

Coral bleaching and getting harmed by CO2 acidifying the ocean? Nope. Corals grow just in a wide range of pH, they change the local reef pH by over 1 point from noon to midnight in shallow water by photosynthesis, are NOT harmed by extreme Ph, and grow BETTER (like all plants actually) in times of higher CO2.

Ocean levels rising? By (perhaps) 1-1/2 inch (30 mm) in 100 years. Anything more than that is hype and fear-mongering. Actually, ocean levels have fallen very slightly the last few years as more ice and snow have fallen in the interior of Antarctica - DESPITE what the AGW extremists are “predicting”...

But, then again, NO prediction by ANY AGW extremist or scientist/propagandist has come true. Not ONE of their computer simulations has matched real world data. Now, in the near past, nor in far past. But cloud cover-magnet fields - cosmic radiation models (that IGNORE CO2 levels) do track the temperatures.

Plants extend their growing season in warmer times, have more and better leaves in higher CO2 levels, and resist drought better with higher CO2.

Three times more people die from the cold every winter than from isolated heat stress cases in mid-summer in inner cities. Hotter weather? Fewer deaths. More food. More feed for animals. Better living conditions.

There is no reason to fear “global warming” - there is even less reason to destroy the American economy in fear of global warming.

Which is 1/2 of one degree. And NOT increasing.

(What DOES link global temperatures is the 12% lowering of the earth’s magnetic shielding, and the resulting increase in cosmic radiation though every solar cycle. But CO2 levels? They conspicuously FAIL to match any temperature changes.

What I NEVER see in all these articles about temperature is the uncertainty factor in their calculations. When they are measuring the global temperature, are they using very precise thermometers everywhere? Any real scientist would have to have some type of “error analysis” along with his calculations, but we never see any. This is especially true of the temperature speculations they make from ice cores and ocean floor core samples etc.

The weather equipment in my neck of the woods is mounted atop a six story building at the university, which sports a flat, black-top roof where university botanists have set an enclosed tropical plant arboretum.

It grows some of the nicest tropical ferns and bryophytes you ever did see - in the middle of January.

How utterly to eviscerate a bunch of complete, posturing nitwits without ever using profanity, and why I support FR's ban on profanity. From the article:

Nobody but an educated Brit could come up with such wonderful language.

When they are measuring the global temperature, are they using very precise thermometers everywhere?

As I understand it, the majority of NWS temperature measurement stations are non-compliant. Here's an example from the Happy Camp Ranger Station in the Siskiyou Mountians of California:

Happy Camp Ranger Station, looking NE, Stevenson Screen visible

The numbered objects are air conditioners. The prevailing breezes leading to the measurement station (labeled "Stevenson Screen") come off the parking lot.

WRT error analyses, the IPCC report has one. The magnitude of "glow-bill warming" expected in the next century is dwarfed by the estimated error by a factor of five.

Take a few minutes to go this site for a pictorial summary of the weather station on the roof of the Santa Rosa Democrat, Santa Rosa , Ca. (a NY Slimes owned and controlled fishwrap).

The Santa Rosa Democrat is one of the most rabid enviral whacko/Gorebull Warming pushing fishwraps in America.

Of course only a bitter non beliver in Gorebull Warming B$ would dare suggest that this temp gathering station was put on the roof in the midst of air conditioners to raise the temps to support Gorebull Warming B$.

You can decide for yourself if the placement of the temp monitoring devices was intention, accidental or just a liberal screwup.

Just think, Al Gore may end up quoting Jim Carey, “It wasn’t me, it was the one-armed man.” And yes, I do know that came from not only the movie “The Fugitive,” but also the syndicated TV program of the same title with David Jansen.

Carey’s is more humorous, and fits Gore’s idiotic style.

Somehow, Algore ignores the sun.

This was interesting too.....a lagging indicator of the prior event.

Well......Hell's Bells, Algore just couldn't take the time to research anything thoroughly given the deadlines from his publisher and movie producers. Couldn't let the profit motive pass by, hindered by scientific research of a naturally occurring process.

We'll explore changes in the ocean's salinity and how it affects changes in the climate at another time.
