Chafee Hints at Obama Endorsement
Real clear poltics ^ | October 15, 2007 | TOM BEVAN

Lincoln Chafee may be out of politics, but he's still making political news. Last month it was reported that Chafee had bolted the Republican party. This weekend on a local talk show in Rhode Island, Chafee ruled out endorsing any likely Republican nominee.

When asked about supporting a Democrat, Chafee hedged, but then added that if he did endorse a Democrat it would not be Hillary Clinton. Chafee said Clinton, and others who voted in favor of the Iraq war were "disqualified" to lead the country. The whole exchange looked like it could very well be a preview of an Obama for President campaign commercial.

Watch the entire exchange below, including Chafee's comment about the flap surrounding Obama not wearing the American flag on his lapel (Note: the clip runs about three minutes and thirteen seconds. Ignore the status bar at the bottom of the video, technical difficulties prevented it from matching the exact length of the clip):

I’ve never had any doubt at all about Chafee’s true political leanings, though I’d have just as soon have seen him reelected anyways as that would’ve given us the senate. But I do find it astounding that Chafee isn’t just liberal, but even Hillary freakin’ Clinton is too conservative for him. What a prick.

Hillary actually DOES have a lockbox. There are no Social Security funds in there, but lots of testicles.

Here’s one case where an Uber RINO losing to a Marxist is good.

Nothing Chaffee has ever done suprizes me.

I think Chaffee must be going through menopause. He/she/it makes no sense whatsoever.

This has all the impact of an extra quart of water going over Niagara Falls.

No doubt, but it does illustrate the issue of what exactly is going on in the deranged brain of the ultraliberal. I suspect an identity crisis. This clown may come out soon as a cross dresser, or maybe something even more exotic.

Endorsing a Liberal Democrat?

Look like future Presidential material for the Grand New Party - Maybe he’ll run next election with the help of the folks supporting Rudy911 this year.

He could so completely follow in Rudy911’s footsteps.

>> Proving himself the little $hitstain that he is. He demonstrates why we need to stop giving money to the RNC and to the individual candidates. They spent vital $$ to try to reelect this garbage over $$ that should’ve been spent on Burns, Talent & Allen <<

You do realize that your hero, the "true conservative" Fred Thompson openly ENDORSED and CAMPAIGNED for Chafee -- not only in the general election (as if that wasn't bad enough), but in the PRIMARY as well, right?

Fred claimed he agreed with Chafee on "most" issues. (I beg to disagree, if Fred was with Chafee on most issues he'd be a Democrat). And yet you strenuously objected when I referred to Fred Thompson as one of the good ol' boys of inside the beltway politics. Why else would Fred campaign for a Senator to the LEFT of Russ Feingold? The members of the world's most exclusive club take care of their own, and the party insiders would endorsed Joesph Stalin if he had an "R" next to his name.

Of course, if Mike Huckabee (or anyone else on your non-purist hit list) had traveled to Rhode Island to tout Chafee's virtues to Republican primary voters, you'd be blasting it on every thread of how it's proof that they're an evil RINO traitor who must be purged in the primary.

But how dare we call Fred -- who was best buddies with McCain and pimped for Linc Chafee -- a good ol' boy, right?

Now before you people go bashing Chafee, note that he has a lifetime ACU rating of almost 35%, which in the minds of the McCainiacs around here would more than qualify him to be the GOP nominee (since it’s still higher than Obama’s).

He was endorsing him as a Republican incumbent whom had previously won statewide. It was very ill-advised.

"Fred claimed he agreed with Chafee on "most" issues. (I beg to disagree, if Fred was with Chafee on most issues he'd be a Democrat). If Stalin had been a Republican incumbent and the difference between majority and minority status, quite possibly so. But I'm being sarcastic. Chafee was just an inconsequential pissant who wouldn't have been in the Senate were it not for his father's name, and were it not for the RINO Governor to have appointed him. I'd have voted for pro-lifer Democrat Bob Weygand in 2000 to have gotten him out of office. Fred is a loyal Republican and wanted a GOP majority. He was already out of office and had no particular reason to help the party in retirement, but he did so. I don't support the candidate he assisted here, but you and I both know why he did it.

"Of course, if Mike Huckabee (or anyone else on your non-purist hit list) had traveled to Rhode Island to tout Chafee's virtues to Republican primary voters, you'd be blasting it on every thread of how it's proof that they're an evil RINO traitor who must be purged in the primary."

Huckster wouldn't have gone to RI. We couldn't even get him to campaign for Republican candidates in Arkansas. That's the difference between him and Fred. Huckster was the same as Romney, who also couldn't be bothered to help Republican candidates in MA. Fred went out of his way to help, the other two wouldn't have bothered.
