Home-grown Web site funnels Islam's extremist views to world

When Osama bin Laden issued his videotaped message to the American people last month, a young jihad enthusiast went online to help spread the word.

"America needs to listen to Shaykh Usaamah very carefully and take his message with great seriousness," he wrote on his blog, referring to bin Laden by an alternative spelling. "America is known to be a people of arrogance."

Unlike bin Laden, the blogger was not operating from a remote location. It turns out he is a 21-year-old American named Samir Khan who produces his blog from his parents' home in North Carolina, where he serves as a kind of Western relay station for the multimedia productions of violent Islamic groups.

In recent days, he has featured "glad tidings" from a North African militant leader whose group slaughtered 31 Algerian troops. He posted a scholarly treatise arguing for violent jihad, translated into English. He listed hundreds of links to secret sites from which his readers could obtain the latest blood-drenched insurgent videos from Iraq.

His neatly organized site also includes a file called "United States of Losers," which showcased a recent news broadcast about a firefight in Afghanistan with this added commentary from Khan: "You can even see an American soldier hiding during the ambush like a baby!! AllahuAkbar! AllahuAkbar!"

Khan, who was born in Saudi Arabia and grew up in Queens, N.Y., is an unlikely foot soldier in what al Qaeda calls the "Islamic jihadi media." He has grown up in middle-class America and wrestles with his worried parents about his religious fervor. Yet he is stubborn.

"I will do my best to speak the truth, and even if it annoys the disbelievers, the truth must be preached," Khan said in an interview.

Can someone deport this idiot? Something along the lines of aiding and abetting the enemy?

...added commentary from Khan: "You can even see an American soldier hiding during the ambush like a baby!! AllahuAkbar! AllahuAkbar!"

Where is Khan hiding?

Or his great leader Osama?

Perhaps he can gather the courage to strap a bomb to a child to blow up a restaurant someday.

There is nothing more cowardly or scared than a scared terrorist.

Just another moonbat of the Islamofascist persuasion.

Exactly... they must have had this guy penetrated (with a bug up his ass as well as on all his stuff) as one of the main sources on where to find all this other stuff on the web.

We could give the site back its credibility by publicly executing this unregistered enemy agent in an unfortunate accident type event.

Then all that needs to be done is to let it “go into hiding” as a site resource and have it play bouncing server hosts with a new guy as the useful idiot.

The article goes on to say:

there is nothing to suggest that Khan is operating in concert with militant leaders, or breaking any laws

What he's doing is an extreme form of cultural and social rebellion seen in normal young men, taken to an extreme. He should be monitored to ensure there's no actual connection between himself and terrorist operatives but his 1st amendment rights MUST be upheld. An unfortunate beneficiary of American rights.

He’s not breaking any laws? Typical NYT crap piece.

He is committing treason and should be treated as so.

Yes I saw this earlier today as an article by Michael Moss from the New York Times. I am very angry that we have an internet terrorist in the US who is still free. Spreading terrorist propaganda and or terrorist material on the internet does not fall under freedom of speech, it is an act of TERRORISM.

This kid is one of many. The Islamic Thinkers Society has a web sight as odious and foul as anything imaginable. Yet the rhetoric there is not all that different from Marxist spew by American academics. This is a growing American fringe.

It is not the fault of the New York Times in this case that this terrorist is still free. The stupid laws regarding terrorism prevent his arrest!

This scumbag should be thrown out of America for stinking up the fresh air in North Carolina. If we do deport him I’m sure that some suck ass liberal will make a documentary about the evil Americans. I can’t believe that this is happening at a time when we’re suppose to be fighting a war. President Bush, please start punishing people for the crimes of treason and illegal border crossing. If you do this it will go a long way toward winning back the trust of conservatives.
