He might be a middle-aged white guy from the West, but Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) suddenly understands the travails of people stopped for "DWB": driving while black. In the course of his interview with Matt Lauer, aired last night and excerpted on this morning's "Today," Craig tried to play the profiling card.
MATT LAUER: The fact that these motions seemed to replicate a well-established sequence of signals for soliciting anonymous sex, it's a coincidence?View video here.
LARRY CRAIG: I now know that this cop, this officer [shades of "that woman, Ms. Lewinsky"?] is a profiler. He said looking into a stall was one of it. And then a hand gesture or a foot tap is another one. Now I know all about profiling. I know what people feel like when they're profiled. When innocent people get caught up in what I was caught in as an innocent person, it's very angering at times.Should we expect Al Sharpton to turn up at Craig's next press conference, expressing solidarity with this latest victim of The Man?
Larry Craig profiling ping to Today show list.
I’ve little doubt, that Matt is well experienced in this field of questioning.
He’s still got Bill Clinton residue on one of his blue suits.
Oh well. What’s he got to lose?
Craig: "I always pick up those little pieces of discolored toilet-paper
stuck to the floor of public toilets."
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech. What a sicko, and pox on the GOP.
“Senator Craig, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”
GO AWAY, LARRY.
Craig has got to be being blackmailed by the Dems for something big
Nobody can be that stupid ... can they?
Nothing much at all. On the other hand, he sure isn't following the tradition of GOP politicians who just "run away" (e.g, Newt, Trent, Foley, etc.). Meanwhile Dollar-Bill Jefferson still has his job.
Except there are no "real killers" he can search for.
And his lawyers won't be able to snooker a court of appeals the same way O.J.'s lawyers snookered the jury.
Republicans demand more from their leaders then do Democrats, who only expect them to deliver the 'goods'.
So much so that with regularity we have circular firing squads and elect Democrats. Then after having a Democrat in office for a few years we re-learn prioritization and come together again.
Were any of those guys you listed innocent?
Getting rid of bad/corrupt leaders is a good thing and there is no reason they can't be replaced with honorable leaders.
"Keep hope alive"
