LOWELL Democrat Niki Tsongas held off an aggressive challenge from Republican Jim Ogonowski yesterday to win a special election for the US House, becoming the states first woman in Congress in 25 years and claiming the same seat once held by her late husband, Paul Tsongas.....

What appropriate use of a picture and placement! ROFL
Except that nothing in MA politics is the least bit funny.
Funny title, and it’s true too since Rats always win in Mass. But it’ll be changed.
BUT on the bright side (in Democrats' pea brains ONLY) smoking is banned almost everyplace; elementary school teachers are teaching K-2 all about putting condoms on cucumbers and that so and so has two mommies or daddies; and now the crisis about where to put casinos (in which the governor wants smoking banned)... could go on and on with this crap... oh and did you know that 50% of our middle and high school students flunked the national science test????
And the Sox are losing...boo freaking who!!!
Maybe we should let the four legged kind eat the two legged kind?
I agree with cp124, there is nothing funny about it (living up here) and I also agree it will someday change. Nothing lasts forever.
People around the country don't realize that being a Republican in Massachusetts is like being a brown sock and the whole world is a tuxedo. We have had Weld, Cellucci, Swift and Romney as governors, but they were nothing but figureheads, working with a state legislature that is 89% Democrat.
I don't know if the RNC assisted Jim Ogonowski in his bid to defeat Mrs. Tsongas, but I have my doubts. They send NOTHING to GOP candidates in this state....and hence I will no longer contribute to them. When they start to pay attention in Massachusetts, I will pay attention to them.
The juxtaposition of the rats photo with the announcement of Democrat victory is most appropriate.
“Og” did very well,
considering what he was up against.
How many busloads of illegals were shipped in from Lawrence to get the Democrat elected?
Ironically, Mrs. Tsongas had Bill Clinton make an appearance for her. (Bill played dirty tricks on her husband when Mr. Tsongas ran for President.)
What is most ironic, is that MR. Tsongas was beginning to do an about face and come around to a more fiscally conservative approach before the bottom fell out of his presidential campaign. (His campaign manager took off with campaign funds.)
MRS. Tsongas would bring honor to her husband’s memory to head away and shun anything and everything Clinton, and to take heed of all that Mr. Tsongas was finding wrong within his own party.
I believe the Republican Nat’l Congressional Cmte PAC sent him $5,000. He also received several contributions from different GOP congressional warchests.
However, if you would have pointed out to a nearby Massachusetts Revenue agent that the State was losing out on a taxable sale, you might have been able to scare up a State SWAT team or three...
;-)
Maybe if they had sent him 50,000 it would have made a difference.
“I witnessed a shoplift in a MA TJ Maxx today, (the second shoplift in 2 days, the other in a Stop and Shop) and when I went to report it, they couldnt have cared less, saying it happens a lot lately. They didnt even ask me to point the person out! I just watched the thief as he left the store. No one gives a d- here anymore.”
Good for you to point it out!
I’ve been told (by employees) that shoplifting by store employees dwarfs that which is done by shoppers.
