such a sad time in American History this is. It’s open season on common sense and moral values. How do politicians sleep at night?

Okay, so let the Boy Scouts save the city the expense of demolishing the building and then the city could sell the land for its market value.

Should make for an interesting “free expression of religion” case.

Cities are not permitted to charge different rent prices to groups or individuals based on their religious convictions.

Yeah I see what you are saying.

But we should go out and find out what LEFTist organizations are getting similar deals from the city, find some way they are discriminating, and get them shut out too.

But I guess this will never happen, because while evil delights in picking on good causes, honorable people don’t have the time or stomach to pick back at them.

"What other groups receive free rent from the city? If there are any other such groups, I am opposed to such Welfare arrangements."

For starters, How abut the NFL team? Hell the city even built a stadium for them. How about the Hockey teams? There's about a BILLION in taxpayer "welfare" right there.

I' sur if you put your mind to it, you can think of many, many more groups, clubs, associations, help centres, etc that get 'free' rent or subsidies, grants (the ballet club, orchestra, theatre club, fine arts, etc. are all 'welfare' recipients)

Kick them all out! make em pay their own way! make 'em pay rent!

What was the point of your post? Was that an insinuation of some kind, or is an apology due from me?

Did you think “the Catholic Church would LOVE to help” because of their centuries of charitable work in the service of Christ? Or were you offering a more prurient contribution to this discussion?

Do tell.

If any organization can prove as valuable to the community as the BSA, and there are a few (very few as good or better), then any city or community should consider such minor inducements and supports as well worth it.

It’s a non sequitor that it has to be ‘every organization’. No it doesn’t. City Government makes a decision. Their decision here is showing that Gay Agenda political correctness trumps support for one of the best volunteer organizations for boys in the country.

Did the article state that the $1.00 a year rent was in perpetuity?

The original article was misleading.

But the link to the other article in my post #119 says the lease was "in perpetuity".

I do not have a legal degree. However my slip and fall lawyer wife does!

I have only read the article that has been posted.

BTW-Have you read the actual agreement between the city and boy scouts?

$199,999? The building is probably worth millions...and the Scouts own it!

Love the ad hominems

I challange you to find even one ad hominem attack by me in the nine years I have been posting here, let alone this thread.

I didn't even call you a bigot. I merely pointed out that the post attacked all Catholics and not merely the priests involved.

Perhaps you meant something more benign by your statement:

I bet the Catholics would LOVE to help.

I would be willing to accept any reasonable explanation.
