PHONY BIDDERS!
Did I write that?
Take a look at the bid history. I think a fink has infiltrated the ranks of serious bidders. I’m sure E-bay and/or Rush will fix it in the morning.

I believe eBay handles charitable auctions like this for free or a very nominal and fixed fee.

Did you check out the bidding on ebay? Current winner is Y***t and it was heated between him and d***r.......
Obviously these are high rollers and I'm curious as to why these atypical bidding names........
We need to start a thread here to try to identify who these bidders are.........
I'll start it, I'm thinking D***R is Donald Rumsfeld and Y***T is Rush himself (YT = yours truly)

Ebay policy:
Bids over $15,000
To place a bid of $15,000 or more, you must provide a valid credit card (your card won't be charged) or go through our ID verify process (no credit card required). This helps ensure that eBay members involved in large sales are of legal age and serious about completing the transaction.
You only need to provide this information once. To find out if you already have a credit card on file, please check your Account Status. eBay encourages you to file your credit card or get verified in advance.
Pre-approved bidders
Occasionally, for certain high-profile listings, eBay will allow a seller to create a pre-approved bidders list to restrict their listings to a specified group of buyers.
Heres what you can expect if you bid on a listing that has a pre-approved bidders list:
If you are a pre-approved bidder: The bidding process will proceed as usual.
If you are not one of the pre-approved bidders: Youll get a notice that the item is restricted, and you will not be allowed to bid on the item. If you are interested in the item, contact the seller to request being added to the pre-approved bidders list.

Just wondering if the high bid belongs to RedRover, with his business ventures he can afford it.

All of the bidders in the history have all but the first and last letters replaced with asterisks; apparently to protect their privacy. I’m not sure what the story is with that.

Me neither. I've been an Ebay participant for a bunch of years and my user name has always been a list of characters that I chose.
This is a very unusual occurance......

I might be wrong here (just too lazy to look is more like it) but doesn’t this mean the letter has outsold Barry Bonds’ home run ball?

eBay has changed how bid history information is displayed for higher-priced items. To help keep the eBay community safe, enhance bidder privacy, and protect our members from fraudulent emails, only you and the seller of the item can view your User ID in bid history. Other members will see anonymous names.

They don’t have “atypical bidding names,” EBay just hides the names in high priced auctions.

It's possible.I've read in the past that courts have upheld bids on e-bay as being the equivalent of a legal contract so if there are phony bidders things could get interesting.

It is a serious bid, I know, because I bid my max limit of $850,900.00 and that bid just beat me. I will still give the $ 850,900.00 if all 41 demonRAT senators match the final amount.

I was leary when I saw it, but apparently Rush verifies all the bidders...this bidder has been after the document since the beginning. Something tells me all of this was preplanned. It’s going to go for a million bucks...which the media CANNOT ignore. Rush will meet the million dollar donation and just wait to see how the Press will spin this!
