House Republican leaders have publicly called on Rep. Pete Stark (D-Calif.) to apologize for his comments today regarding American troops in Iraq or resign from his position.
Stark said the following today on the floor of the House (which can be viewed on video here):
I yield myself two minutes. Madam speaker, I, first of all, Im just amazed that they can't figure out -- the Republicans are worried that they can't pay for insuring an additional 10 million children. They sure don't care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq. Where are you going to get that money? Are you going to tell us lies like you're telling us today? Is that how you're going to fund the war? You don't have money to fund the war on children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if he can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President's amusement.

He should have resigned years ago. I’m not holding my breath that he’ll do the right thing now.
My email to this dip $hit:
Dear Sir: ( Notice I do Not use Mr. Congressman for you do not deserve the title)
RE: Your comments on the House floor during the debate on the State Childrens Health Insurance Program .
Sir;You are either incredibly stupid, or completely insane, either way you do not deserve to stand the hallowed halls of the Nations Capital.
Do this country a favor and resign
Democrats never do.
What an old turd. You know, I would demand his resignation, but I’ll just get another weird fruit out of that district of his, so what’s the difference? The new guy will disparage the troops privately instead of publicly? Not a big improvement to me.
“I yield myself two minutes. Madam speaker, I, first of all, Im just amazed that they can’t figure out — the Republicans are worried that they can’t pay for insuring an additional 10 million children.”
Once again, 25 year olds are not children.
Your email is a lot nicer than mine! :-)
Someone needs to deck him, hard.
Please post his email address.
Thanks
He’ll be more valuable to conservatives and the GOP if he refuses to apologize, and is used as campaign fodder next year prior to the election cycle.
The republicans are wasting their breath, although, I guess that have to make some public comment to counter Stark’s words.
I’ll be honest with you. I don’t want reconciliation with such despicable people as Stark. I don’t consider them American. I don’t consider their viewpoint American.
I want to roll over them, disgrace them, and have the American people totally reject them.
It isn’t really a matter of revenge or censure or anything like that.
It is a war with the haters of America, and I want to win it.
The enemy, in that it controls the media, has a great weapon. The real question is how to counter that weapon or to take it away from them.
We need a media ABM, Star-Wars System.
Stark laid a big COW PLOP!!
We don’t need IDIOTS like this in our government — now just where did we put the tar and feathers...

The Democrat party is so disturbing I can barely even come up with words to describe it nowadays. I have also decided, I am no longer going to call the standing President by their last name only. It is President Bush or President Clinton or President Thompson, whatever. I don’t care if I hate the political agenda or moral values. The President is the President. The Repiblican party need to start setting standards of being Americans again. That should mean all of us.
We don’t need a majority of one’s constituency consent for a member to be removed, thank you.
“”But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people if he can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President’s amusement.””
Does this idiot really believe that GWB will still be in office when “those kids” grow up?
Did they ever get around to voting on this yesterday?
Make an ad of his comments and run in in GOP leaning areas to raise funds and rile up the conservative base.
First off, “Pete” Fortnoy Stark has been one of the most stalwart supporters of the drive to disarm American citizens. He’s been either the author, or early supporter of every gun control bill to go through the house.
Secondly, he’s a thug and a bully. He has a long history of shouting down political opponents, and he threatened physical violence on the floor of the house more than once. He may be best known for his “fruit” comment...
Finally, and this is the one which is most aggregious... A year or two ago, one of his constituents, I believe a National Guard sergeant, left a message for Stark, and his anti-war statements... Well, Stark called the sergeant back and left a nasty message on his answering machine, cursing him out, and calling him far worse than a “phony soldier.” I remember that there was at least one thread on FR, though I don’t think that the media thought that a house member cursing out a retuning vet was worth reporting.
Mark
True enough...but please tell me how many votes a resolution in the House would get to remove him from office? 175? Fewer? And does it require a simple majority or an absolute majority for such a resolution to pass?
Exactly. And not just in Republican areas but in tossup areas/districts/states.
Doesn’t work that way. Republicans can’t demand that dems resign. The media will not back them. Dems will ignore them.
But just let any damndem say anything against a Republican, and the fuss and fury is all over the media and you never hear the end of it!
I still prefer Hensarling’s comments. The only one calling for Stark’s resignation, I believe. No, I don’t believe Stark would resign but Libs do this all the time to Republicans. They lose nothing by calling for his resignation. He should resign over this. So call him out, demand he resign, and by doing so make this very clear to the public these sentiments are not acceptable for mainstream thought.
I know Boehner and Blunt are trying, but Hensarling knocked thi one out of the park. Follow his lead on this one.
I don’t have the energy or the know how, but someday maybe someone will develop a list of everything the dems have said and done to undermine the war effort. Whatever happened to puting traitors away?
Stark is an old left-wing jerk. Of course, Congress is filled with old left-wing jerks.
Should?
That would require a sense of shame.
Term limits.
I'm sure he wouldn't say this to ANY soldiers face. He'd have his block knocked off.
Thanks, I know his website, what I am looking for is an email address. You cannot email him from his website unless you are a constituent which luckily for him & thankfully for me, I am not.
So should Pelosi. After he spoke she slobbered all over him, thanking him for his contributions to the override effort.
He was simply a left wing jerk when he first ran for Congress in 1972. In my first, and last, recorded vote in California, I had the pleasure to vote against him.
He's always been rude and condescending.
Let's face it, Congress is filled with jerks on both sides of the aisle, but the vast majority are on the left.
“Doesnt work that way. Republicans cant demand that dems resign?”
No shiite!
Post #32 is for you...I get tired of repeating myself. LOL
I understand and share your disgust with Starke but the best we can do with his comments, which was suggested earlier in this thread,is to use quotes from him in ads that are run in various "battleground" areas/districts/states starting in about a month.
He sounded drunker than a Kennedy during that slurred speech he was giving.
What has the Democrat and Republican parties done for me today to make my life better - the answer, “nothing”.
Congress is such a load that no waste treatment plant in existence could handle them or their crap!
This is good for email addresses for all these traitors:

If anything, it will be VERY instructive to see just now his own constituents respond to all of this. It will say more about THEM than about HIM, for sure.
“...or President Thompson...”
I like how that sounds!
I was wondering what district he represents? And sure enough it’s in California. Should have known.
His Fremont office has the voice mail turned on and one gets this message - - “This mailbox is currently full.”
His staff must be having a wonderful day.
Democrats are lower than snakeshit.
Agree. Stark needs to be taken out back of the Capitol building by a battle-hardened Jarhead lifer gunny and given some religion. The USA is in sorry, sorry shape with these types in the Congress.
