thanks, bfl
Perhaps you mean Alexander Cockburn, the author of the article, and not Christoper Hitchens.
You are right, I saw Cockburn and read Hitchen and they have similar styles. Thanks for pointing that out to me.
LOL, you would think he was one of us. Nah.....
So how much greenhouse gas does Algore emit?

Ping me if you find one I've missed.
It is fun watching them eat each other.
...When lefties attack...
Good grief, Cockburn gets it! There’s hope for everyone.
I’d enjoy this criticism of Gore much more if the author wasn’t such a kook.
I’m kind of surprised people don’t know Cockburn’s credentials. He started (or helped to) the lunatic leftist site, counterpunch. The guy is further to the left AND he’s a conspiratorial nutbag.
That doesn’t invalidate his arguments totally but even though I can’t stand Gore, I can’t help but take anything by Cockburn with a grain of salt.
Already happening. Prices of corn and grain have hit multi year highs on increased ethanol consumption. Why sell the extra production to the poor, hungry countries in Africa when (due to govm’t intervention) you can make far more money selling it to ethanol plants that service US and EU ?
Thanks for the post.
I also don’t “get” why leftyweenies are consistently overlooking this point AND the fact that biofuels generally are MORE polluting than regular gas. Nuclear is cheap, safe, and used elsewhere in the world with great efficiency; if the envirowackos really want cleaner fuel, why not go nuclear? (To answer my own question, because it’s not really about cleaner fuel, it’s about wrecking the economy and taking power away from capitalists.)
Well, Cockburn is printed regularly in our newspaper, so maybe this “heresy” will get read by the loony left. It seems that envirowackos don’t listen to the message when it is communicated by anyone right of Cockburn, and no one can accuse him of being an oil company shill, LOLOL!
Thanks for the pings.
Remember the Ludites of the left are generally against us living better lives. In that respect algore is in a long leftist tradition and Hitchens is out of step.

They are only against us living better lives. They themselves live in the lap of luxury.
However, they are for being our masters i.e. owners. Unfortunately, they are huge numbers in the US of A that also feel they should be our masters. So long as they give us free health care and American Idol.
Born to a very prominent Communist family.
Cockburn, say what you will, is funny when he wants to be. As far as I can tell he invented the word “factoid” [A fact-like object] to describe New York papers reporting on the murder of a fashion model by her gangster boyfriend in the late 1970’s. It was one of those “too good to fact check” stories that oozed sensationalism. Even the (then) normally staid New York Times got in on it.
Cockburn’s leftism is of the dyspeptic and misanthropic sort. In my experience misanthropes have done the World far more good than humanitarians, far, far less harm. Why not a Nobel Prize for Misanthropy?
I have to wonder what is going on at Nation, myself.
