"The family of a fallen Marine is dealing with another shock -- their son's new grave was vandalized.
Lance Cpl. Jeremy Burris, 22, of Liberty, died in Iraq and was buried at Cook Memorial Cemetery earlier this week.
The cemetery has a locked gate at the front and a fence around the perimeter, but vandals managed to get in sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, less than two days after the Liberty marine was buried, officials said. "
"Tom Smathers, a Liberty resident said, "It's terrible. You can't believe someone would do something like that.""

Our fifth column is alive and well and nurtured by the Left.
Start with the local Code Pink, Indymedia, type left wing radical blogs. I’m sure someone is taking credit for it there.
He stressed that vandalizing a grave is a crime, and asked for the public's help in figuring out the culprits.
Anyone with information is asked to call Liberty Police at 936-366-5666.
Should be considered a hate crime!
Even during the worst days of the Vietnam era, no one would have considered an act like this.
i strongly believe what goes around comes around. i wouldn’t want to be the vandals.
Bush Derangement Syndrome knows no bounds.
Hunt them down for as long as it takes and send a message. Not to anyone else but just to the scumbags that did this.
I sadly disagree with you. They were just too high to think of it.
This country is full of brainwashed media-dupes who believe that anarchist blackshirts somehow have First Amendment protection when they swarm down public streets assaulting passers-by, defecating on the pavement, destroying property, and threatening all who disagree with their totalitarian message. It isn’t much of a step from that to this, especially with the media culture covering for the blackshirts and giving them the stamp of approval as righteous rebels.
These wusses attack a Marine’s grave because they would never have the guts to confront a living Marine.
I think it is one of two types. 1). Local troublemaking teens (who can be non ideological). 2). Hard core leftists (who may be teens)
With no draft, the sense today on the Left is that our people in Iraq are the Enemy.
The meanness of this act makes me want to cry. How craven and cruel.
Knowing the area somewhat, I’m guessing this horrible act had more to do with whitetrash kids being bored and looking for something to break than any kind of political statement.
The Lord loves a hangin’ - and it sounds like somebody needs one...

True, except I think it has gone even further than that. As I recall the late Sixties and early Seventies- shame, itself, had not yet faded away, and the fear still existed of being exposed for doing such a hideous thing.
Today, however, it would simply bring paid invitations to speak on certain campuses.
If you recall when US Army Ranger Pat Tillman was killed. We had people insulting him. And saying he deserved to be killed. Ted Rall called him an idiot as did others. Though the issue with Tillman needs to be sorted out. We have had our Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Marines abused by the Anti War crowd. We have had Phony Soldiers like Jesse McBeth the Woman Beater and Credit Card Fraud criminal lie about “His Service in Iraq” murdering Woman and children.
The war on our Military personnel has not let up. It is time we stop caving into these Assholes. And fight fire with fire. I am happy to see Code Pink out numbered in Berkeley. Communists and Friends of Al-Queda need to be opposed.
Let’s all be perfectly honest with ourselves.
Not a single thing will be done about this.
Thiss America in the 21st Century.

Texas Police Arrest Man After Marine Grave Desecration ...
Investigators said Thursday that Wallace Ray DeBlanc, 41, ripped the 25 floral arrangements apart for the wire stands (worth about $1.50 each), a pewter cross and other decorations that could be resold to floral shops.
Liberty Police Chief Mike Cummings estimates DeBlanc, who has given police a statement, got $30 to $50 for the items. He has been charged with two felonies: theft of property from a grave and criminal mischief to a human burial site.
