Bin Laden calls for jihad against Darfur force

Osama bin Laden has issued a fresh call for a "holy war" against a new 26,000-strong peacekeeping force for Darfur, which will include British support staff.
The tape was aired on Monday
In a new audiotape, the al-Qa'eda leader also said Muslims in Sudan and its neighbours must target the Khartoum government for agreeing to the deployment.
"This is a brazen occupation, and only an infidel apostate seeks it or agrees to it," bin Laden said, according to a new translation of comments made on Monday.
"It is the duty of the people of Islam in the Sudan and its environs, especially the Arabian Peninsula, to perform jihad against the Crusader invaders and wage armed rebellion to remove those who let them in."
Sudan hosted bin Laden between 1991 and 1996 but he has since distanced himself from the regime he accuses of failing to adhere strictly to Islam.
Bin Laden's deputy, Ayman al-Zawhiri, made a similar call for jihad in Darfur in a video message broadcast on Sept 20.
Diplomatic sources in Khartoum said there was unlikely to be a home-grown attack by Sudanese fundamentalists against the joint United Nations and African Union (AU) mission, due to be operational by Jan 1.
"It makes little sense. Don't forget lots of the soldiers are going to be Muslims too," said one European diplomat.
Egypt, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso and Egypt, with large Islamic populations, have all signed up to send troops or staff to the new mission.
Britain is sending roughly 100 support staff. A British General will also be seconded to the operation.
But there have been some reports that foreign terror cells were looking to establish terror training camps amid the chaos of Darfur, which has a majority Muslim population.
More than 200,000 people have died since the government moved to crush a rebellion in its western province, which started in February 2003.

Osama is in a rut. He wants to conquer a hell-hole. Have at it, Osama.
Bin Ladin is feigning interest in Darfur in my opinion.
He’s hoping to tempt the United States into committing military resources there that are now busy in the central front of the war in Iraq. The ploy could work, the temptation of trying to get liberals on board in the WOT by fighting in Darfur might be too much for some.
I’m not a military expert, but where we fight has to be determined by sound strategy, not in response to the enemy’s rhetoric and propaganda.

Eat another grub, you powerless cave-dwelling sixteenth century loser.
We won't be sending any troops to Darfur, period.
Still more evidence that the man is a homicidal lunatic.
Every American needs to read that terrible book. Then you will understand what we are up against.
Try to find a copy over 15 years old for a proper translation that hasn't been changed to pull the wool over our eyes.
He’s calling for a Jihad where US forces ain’t around.
Yes, it certainly sounds like it. Can't tackle our US Military so he acts like the chicken$hit he and the rest are...wonder if Bush will take measures to help out? Kinda like what happened with Ethiopian forces...they went in and we gave them what was needed to get the job done...LOL...with our help they kicked the crap out of those muslims...
