Brokeback thinks he is presidential timber; why, I’m not sure.

Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) is considering endorsing Rudy Giuliani for the GOP presidential nomination and will meet with him Thursday in Washington to hear his views on abortion. Another Republican sells his soul for a chance at political power.

The only Republican candidate who has stated flat out that he would not support the winner of the nomination is Ron Paul, that great American who has already run third party for POTUS.

Got news for you, that is not going to happen anytime soon.
If he gets run over by a bus, I’d probably support Tanc/Fred.

I think Hunter will know when to bow out gracefully as opposed to running it through to the bitter end ....

Thompson is good with a script, or an earphone, but without them he is an empty suit. Sorry.

The only Republican candidate who has stated flat out that he would not support the winner of the nomination is Ron Paul, that great American who has already run third party for POTUS.
That is simply untrue.
After the last debate, he said he wouldn't endorse anyone who violated the political principles he's stood for for the last thirty years. He mentioned that three other candidates had softened their tone on war issues and that he would have to consider endorsing them if they were nominated.
I got the general impression that he wouldn't endorse any nominee who was advocating bombing and invading Iran. I deleted my recording but I did have the impression that it was Fred he was thinking about primarily. And Fred is less hawkish than the others. So is Mitt despite that talk about doubling Guantanamo. I think McCain and Giuliani would be unendorsable by Ron Paul. And Ron Paul's endorsement of candidates that hawkish would probably do nothing to help those two as nominee anyway.

The only Republican candidate who has stated flat out that he would not support the winner of the nomination is Ron Paul You do realize that then-Governor Bush, his father, and the RNC supported Democrat-turned-Republican Laughlin in the '96 Congressional primaries against Paul, don't you? Why should Paul do the GOP any favors? He already told Hannity that endorsing one of Republicans is like throwing away 30 years of his work to the Constitution.
that great American who has already run third party for POTUS.
ROFL. That 3rd party dog ain't hunting. Paul has stated a million times that he's not running as a 3rd party candidate, so spare me the hand-wringing.

Tancredo also said he wouldn’t support the GOP nominee. But I don’t see the GOP groupies going after him.

Hmmm...I hadn't heard him say exactly that. Did he say not at all or just that it wasn't automatic like RP did?
Anyway, we've had the secret ballot throughout the country for 130 years or so now. So let their ballots be secret. I could care less how other people vote. These endorsements don't really do that much to swing anyone to vote for someone else. Their value is vastly overestimated.

Why do you call Brownback “venal?” Do you have specific knowledge of specific venality on his part?

If I were a GOP candidate for POTUS, I wouldn’t be losing any sleep over wondering whether I could count on the support of Ron Paul.

... and who will you support when Hunter drops out ?Hey NP....ever heard of primaries? You know, where party members vote for their choice for nominee? Those are called primaries. Whoever wins the primary becomes the nominee, ya know? Then you vote for president in the general election, ya know?
Sheesh. Does anyone remember "primaries"?
